I'm killing off the wasp/yellow jacket nest at my house sucking them out of the sky with my vacuum!

Bee stings dont hurt that bad.

Yeah but unlike bees who sting once then die because they lose their stingers which are serrated wasp can sting continually. Their stingers have no serration but are needle like. They hurt like...... BTDT. Called a professional

I got stung for the first time about 2 weeks ago. I was mowing the lawn with a collared polo. It fell between the collar and my neck. Got me a couple times..... no big deal, had the wife pull the stinger and drank a couple beers. It was all good.

If there was a stinger, it was a honeybee. Reactions can vary wildly from one person to another, and although I've heard people (not here) say that it's just pain tolerance, I can guarantee that the swelling I'm now having well past my knee has nothing to do with my personal level.

I wish that the glass of wine I had after my wasp sting had been as effective as your beer after your bee sting, lol!

I went 32 years without getting stung (to my knowledge) and this one got me in my back. To me it was just a "oh dang, I just go stung"

Until last night we had a yellow jacket nest in the ground next to the front stairs. So, last night we poured some water in it and were hoping that would make them want to relocate. Well, apparently that alerted an animal to their presence bc this morning the whole nest was dug out and all ripped apart. I read skunks and raccoons will do that. So, thanks to some nocturnal animal, the issue is now resolved.

WASP stings hurt like the devil. Got stung this week twice. Once on my forearm and once on the knee. It feels like getting stabbed with a shard of hot glass and it lasts a long time. Then the horrible pain subsides and is replaced with swelling and a maddening itch.

The best part is that if you mess with one wasp, you apparently mess with their whole family. LOL
Like the wasp Mafia.

I noticed quite a bit of wasp activity by my front door, found they're getting behind the siding in a small hole. I bought a couple cans on that foaming bee killer, shot it up behind the siding - didn't do much. I figure I killed about 50 bees in total after using up about 4 cans of bee killer, and I had to re-fresh the foam every couple minutes as it dissipated quickly.

Instead of buying more cans of bee killer, I just setup the vacuum and let it run for a bit sucking them out of the sky as they left and returned to the nest. I had some pissed off wasps in the dust can, but they were mostly dead by the afternoon. I'd let it run for 10-15 min at a time, and then let it rest. A lot of the bees that get sucked up end up half dead by the time they get to the dust bucket. Then I finish them off by flushing the dust bucket with water and let them drown.

Here's my setup:

I've also ordered some diatomaceous earth to puff up into the hole to kill them off even while the vacuum isn't running, but at least I've depleted their numbers a little bit. I figure I've sucked up at least 500+ yellowjackets so far!

Call a local beekeeper. Declining bee populations are starting to cause higher food prices. Call a keeper and have them come out to tend to your issue.

Note: Bess and wasps are not the same thing. If you have a bee infestation/swarm, call a beekeeper to come get and relocate the swarm as they are highly beneficial and bee numbers are declining. we have had to do this twice and our beekeeper friend was THRILLED to come get the swarm of bees.

If you have wasps or hornets...you kill them...kill them with fire LOL. If you are not 1000% sure what type of buzzy you've got, call a pro to come evaluate first. My beekeeper friend has had folks call him to come get a swarm of bees only to get their and discover yellow jackets or wasps.

This is excellent advice.

We've got a hornet nest someplace - can't find it, but the hornets end up in a few rooms in the house, almost daily. I grab them with a paper towel and squish them. I want to find the nest and kill them all, as I think they must be in the walls or attic crawl space in order to have access to the inside of the house.

Paper wasps used to nest all around our deck. They'd start to make their fancy paper hives, and I'd go out there and soak them with the kill spray that shoots 8-10 feet of spray. Never got stung. Since we ripped the lattice off the inside of the deck rail, we've pretty much eliminated their favorite nesting areas. Wasp free this summer!

There's only one way to find out where they're getting in.

Pick a nice day, moderate temps, no wind and set up a lawn chair and a nice bottle of wine on the North side of your house. Sit in said lawn chair with said bottle of wine and stare at your house looking for the occasional wasp coming and going. If, after the wine is gone, you haven't seen any wasp activity, repeat this process only this time sit on the East side of your house......and again on the South side.......then the West side.

Trust me, you'll find them.
