Can't wait to hear your opinion on dessert party...you will LOVE MNSSHP, we have done it twice. Then we were there in 2010 and thought we didn't need too do it again, uh, big mistako! We sat on the Poly beach where we stayed that trip wishing we were at the party every time Happy Hallowishes went off! I can't wait for you to experience it, the MK seems like a different place at special event parties to me.

Columbia Harbour House is oure must eat place in MK, but we definitely have to hit a place that has that delectably melty and wonderfully colored cheese sauce! We hit Pecos Bill this time, and I always feel bad when someone's waiting for me to pump out so many of those little containers of cheese! I dip my cheeseburger in it and then all the fries! Yum.

Ahaha, naps are awesome! I can’t say I’ve ever actually had one at Disney though. Mom napped for a bit on our two midday break days however I clearly spent the whole time on the dis/tumblr bahah. Paige an I had the intent to nap but instead spent the afternoon in the pool…lawl. We tried!

Columbia Harbor House is a staple in Johnny's family history. We eat there aaaalllll the time.

You were posting the HM pictures, and I was thinking, "ohhhh mannnnn Matt is getting his tattoo soon!!!!" and then you said something about it. haha.

Yeah, I was kind of sad we didn't get to eat there! Obviously just means we will in September, because I can't say no to the beautiful view of the Haunted Mansion!

This post made me so excited for Haunted Mansion! I feel like the last TWO times I've been to Disneyland it was being refurbed or halloweened. And also, I listened to the music from it the other day, and it's awesome.

Ohhhh my gosh, yes! We actually played the entire ride's soundtrack on Halloween outside of our house for everyone who came by! I really want to go on HM in Disneyland when it's not all Halloweenied up (even though I LOVE NBC layover!)... but it won't be next trip since we'll be there in November... but hopefully early next year!

I can't wait to see Matt's HM tattoo. I currently have a tattoo that I am hoping I can transform into something I have in mind that's definitely Disney-related, but I'm not sure it can be done. I must collaborate with an artist soon, because I'd like to have it done before our next trip.

I've never been to Via Napoli. SHAME. Obviously more Epcot time is needed.

I have never taken a nap in disney! I admit, it would be soooo nice. I would love to do that but I never have time!

I know, I can't wait to post about it!!

Oh man, I just conked out! I guess I was tired... but because we're there for 10 days at a time, I don't mind it. But Disneyland is a different story! We're usually only there for 3-4 days, so no naps for us! This next trip we are staying at the Grand Californian though, so I might not hate a nap to enjoy the room a bit more!

Oh my goodness-I thought about you and your TR twice today! Once while I was out running errands and someone (in a past life, I'd say crop dusted us, but now I'll say) pulled a toot n scoot! I did NOT find that amusing! but thinking "toot n scoot" did make me laugh.
Then I went to pick up our youngest daughter from preschool. She was still napping when I got her and between carrying her to the car and buckling her into her carseat she woke up. She is not very happy when she gets woken up and when we tried to talk to her, she made the grumpiest, poutiest face and told us "DON'T. TALK. TO. ME." Now, we don't know you, and we live halfway across the country from you, but I think it's possible she's been taking some lessons from Bruce!
Then I get online tonight and you've updated your TR....that's gotta be serendipitous, right? anyway, just had to share!

Funny story...I was on YouTube the other day looking at Disney World videos and just briefly glanced at the ones on the side of the one I was watching and did a double take cause the still pic of it was you! I LOVE Via Napoli! That pizza you guys got looks insane, I didn't even know that existed, usually I'm boring and get pepperoni pizza! And the desserts! They are all so good! Brandon wants to eat there in December and so far, I don't have an ADR, but I should really try to squeeze one in...so what if all we do in Disney is eat?

Aww, poor Rafiki, all alone, it's so sad seeing characters all alone! It's such a great time to meet them! I would love to meet Rafiki, I think I was going to try during MNSSHP, but the line was too long!

Napping in Disney is fantastic! I don't care what people say about not sleeping in Disney, I love to stay out late and get up early in Disney, but to do that, napping is essential!

(Although I have to admit, I'd REALLY love to stay at a park ALL DAY...I just know Brandon would never go for it! )

The Haunted Mansion is so beautiful, especially at night, you are going to DIE when you see it during MNSSHP!! It's all lit up and smoky, and they have that creepy woman talking to you...OMG it's so amazing, I want to go back for Halloween SOOO bad!!!!

He likes the colors of the DL one better, but likes WDW's actual mansion better. I think it's going to end up looking amazing!

Aww, your comment made me so happy when I read it! I'm glad my trip is helping with the Disney blues! I always end up going MIA from the DIS after trips, but not this time! I had too much to report on and plan for our next trip! Though after this next trip/our Disneyland trip, I am going to be SAD. I know we'll be back next year but it's hard not to have the next one planned right away!

Chapter Forty-Two: Wishes, Celebrate the Magic, and endless desserts... What more could I ask for?
Day 7: January 23rd, 2013

After we finished up on the Haunted Mansion, Bruce and Amy told us they'd arrived at Magic Kingdom, so we decided to go meet them at the Hub.

They told us all about how much they loved the Indiana Jones Stunt Show... and... THAT AMY WAS IN IT! SO COOL. Obviously I don't have photos of this, but she said it was awesome! It was actually really fun to see them both so excited about it, so I was glad they were able to go over to HS to see it! And, if you didn't notice, they actually ended up going to 4 parks in one day! We only did 3 since we skipped on HS, but I thought that was pretty awesome on their part!

By the time that they arrived, it was time for us to go get in line for the Wishes Dessert Party!!

I'd read all about this a while ago and we all decided it'd be really fun to go to. NONE OF US had ever seen Wishes in its entirety. I know, it's kind of insane, but Matt and I had never seen it. So seeing it while enjoying delicious desserts with a completely fantastic view seemed totally worth the extra money!

After waiting in line for a few, we were let into the Tomorrowland Terrace area and a young CM brought us over to our reserved table... I'd say we got an awesome view!

The key to getting a good table at the Wishes Dessert Party is to RESERVE EARLY. The earlier you make your reservation, the better your chances are of getting a good table near the front. We were not in the very front row, but I believe that was because we had 4 people in our party. But we were in the 2nd row, and I wasn't going to complain about that!

After we found our table, it was TIME FOR DESSERTS! Yum. We had about 45 minutes until Celebrate the Magic/Wishes were to start up.

I decided to go with milk for a drink, and this was my plate:

There was a chocolate-covered strawberry, mini cannoli, cheesecake in a cup, apple pie tart, and a rice krispie treat. Everything was pretty tasty, but I remember really loving the apple pie tart.

It was just perfect to be sitting there enjoying desserts, with this amazing view from right where I was sitting.

I decided to go up again for more desserts, and had a hot chocolate my second go. I think Matt went with a coffee, since he LOVES coffee.

THE BROWNIES WERE SO GOOD. They were fudgey and delicious, and I was glad I snagged one! Yum.

Soon enough, Celebrate the Magic was beginning! More and more people were getting up from their tables to watch from the railing, so we made our way up to get ourselves a great spot.

I was very excited to see this, because I'd been hearing good things about it, and THIS DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Seriously, I LOVED Celebrate the Magic. It was amazing.

My favorites were Wreck-it Ralph and Tangled... oh man, the Tangled scene just got me.

AND THEN... Wishes began. I was seriously blown away by it!

We all really loved it. I switched between taking photos and video... and I have to admit, it was pretty cool to have Tinkerbell fly RIGHT over our heads (which you saw in our video).

Overall, the Dessert Party is DEFINITELY worth it. It was fantastic to not have to sit and wait for an hour while standing up for a good view of the castle for CTB/Wishes. The desserts were plentiful, and they had a great selection of drinks, as well. We paid around $25/per person, which is the price during the slower times of year.

The only issue I think I had during the buffet was it got a bit crazy at the beginning with so many people up there, so it was hard to move around. I also didn't like that you could smell cigarette smoke over in that area of the buffet. There must have been a smoking area nearby, which was kind of gross. But we couldn't smell it near our seats, so that was good! We are planning on doing the Dessert Party again during our September trip, as well!

We left the Dessert Party and decided to head over to Tomorrowland. Everyone wanted to go on Space Mountain, and since it was a total walk-on, we went for it. They thought it would be hilarious to put me in the very front seat, with Amy and Bruce behind me, and Matt in the back. The reason they did this was because Amy wanted to hear me on Space Mountain. Like I said, I scream... a lot. And the very front seat TERRIFIES me. It's by far the worst seat to sit in.

All was well before we hit the crazy twists and turns:

Then I just screamed like a maniac. All I could hear behind me was Amy in HYSTERICS laughing at me. I think she mentioned that I even let out an "OH SWEET BABY JESUS" at one point. Yeah... Matt said he thought something awful happened to me and was actually concerned I was somehow injured?

Even better, Bruce decided to RECORD MY SCREAMS on his iPhone. We listened to it after and we were all dying. If I had the recording, I would post it here... because oh my gosh, it was both hilarious but also embarrassing that I sound like that! Hahahaha. I feel bad for anyone who gets stuck behind me on Space Mountain who is a total stranger. Seriously.

After screaming my poor face off on Space, I really wanted to go on Buzz Lightyear to make up for my near-death experience (because in my mind, every trip on Space Mountain is a near-death experience)... AND luckily, Buzz was ALSO a walk-on! We were getting in some good rides with low crowds!

Matt DESTROYED me. It wasn't even close.

And while he was destroying me... we decided to take the all-time most beautiful photo you could ever imagine while shooting our lasers.

We're a special duo, I tell you. One of a kind. This one should be framed and put on our mantle, no?

Meanwhile, Bruce was having a blast but AMY WAS SO SERIOUS ABOUT HER SHOOTING.

Hahaha, after we left Buzz Lightyear, we made our way back to the hub and the second showing of Celebrate the Magic was happening. We decided to try and get some PhotoPass photos with it in the background, but it didn't come out amazing.

Bruce and Amy's, however, was timed perfectly so they got a great photo!

We then decided to head out, because we wanted to have some time in the hot tub back at the resort.

Have I mentioned how much I love Main Street at night with all of the lights?

We got on the bus, then ended up enjoying the hot tub with Bruce and Amy when we got back to Beach Club. We had an AMAZING day and it was the perfect way to end it!

Tomorrow, we experience a breakfast I've been dying to try, and a special guest arrives to spend some time with us!

7. Finding Matt's family's stone outside of Magic Kingdom
8. Way less crowds at MK for the evening
9. Finally seeing Wishes and Celebrate the Magic, WHILE eating delicious desserts!

WOMPWOMP MOMENTS!

1. My back still bothering me
2. Our bus driver going the wrong way instead of to Beach Club
3. Being ridiculously exhausted after lunch
4. Feeling like I was going to fall to my death on Space Mountain
5. The cigarette smoke we could smell near the desserts

The dessert buffet sounds so good. I like that you get a reserved table, and $25 per person sounds very reasonable to me.

The ride photo of you and Matt on Buzz Lightyear is very, very funny. You two are just so funny and must really enjoy each other. I do have to say to Matt, WOW for his score on Buzz, very impressive. No one in our family has gotten over a score in the 300,000!

Ahh! You've inspired me, I think I will book a surprise Wishes Dessert Party for my friends!!! It'll be fantastic We wouldn't be going without them, so it will be nice to give them a little something.

I'm a space mountain screamer too, I think it's because it actually feels like you're on a rickety little track hurtling through faux-space.

Glad to hear you guys enjoyed the dessert party! But I can't believe you guys had never seen Wishes in full before! How is that even possible?

$25 per person really doesn't seem bad at all! Definitely something to keep in mind for future trips.

I LOVE Celebrate the Magic! Just reading about it and seeing your pictures of it makes me happy!

I love your ride picture on Buzz. It's too perfect. My face tends to look like Amy's on that ride lmao.

I wanted to try the Wishes dessert party when we go in January but had heard mixed reviews so I'm happy to read that you had a good experience (minus the smoke smell...EEW!). Hopefully my swiss cheese brain will remember to book it early!!

Just read your whole trip report (so far!) today {while at work--shhhhh!}. Sounds like an amazing trip and you are a great storyteller!

We will be leaving WDW in September on the day you are arriving. We've never done the dessert party before but are hoping to do it this time.

Um... WHAT!? You had never seen Wishes in its entirety!?? I'm going to steal a Friends line and buy a vowel because... "O" my God!

So glad you finally did though.

I think food tastes even better with that view, I really do.

I now have yet another new goal in life... ride behind Dani on Space Mountain. I get such a kick out of people's noises on that ride maybe more than any other.

i'm so glad you wrote about the fireworks and desserts! we were just talking about it today and decided to do it when we're there in January. your pictures of the fireworks were awesome, but I have to say that the pictures of your plates were maybe better. my husband was like "...oh yeah! wow..." he was sort of speechless--he may have drooled a little...

how the heck did matt get such a crazy high score on buzz lightyear?!? it's been awhile since I've gotten to actually try to hit something and not just aim for a kiddo, but I know I never got anywhere near that number!

I love your picture of the lights! I ADORE being in the parks at night and seeing everything all lit up. it's just that much more magical to me!

The dessert party does look like something I should try. We have never seen the Celebrate the Magic (or what ever it is called) show. Or seen All of Wishes from Main Street. I really need to put this on my Disney bucket list.

I'm gonna set a goal here: one of these days, we will be at Disney at the same time and ride Space Mountain together so I can witness this screaming for myself. Because I'm gonna be honest, when people are scared on rides, it kinda cracks me up. (I'M SORRY!!!!) But then we can go get a dole whip (swirled with vanilla) to let you recuperate after your near-death experience. Sound good?
