I work with a Know-it-All Nancy who butts into every conversation no matter what, knows everything about everything and is basically a steamroller of a gal who needs a lesson in life rules. I went to use the bathroom (there was a meeting) so I locked the door (one person bathroom) KNOWING she would try to break in--- she did. She kept knocking and even though I was saying, "Just a second.." (She has NO listening ears), she went into panic mode and was saying over and over to the boss, "The bathroom door is LOCKED!!!???"
Now, any normal person would have surmised that someone was perhaps using the bathroom but it never occurred to her. She was freaking out. I came out in the middle of her freak and she never noticed except that suddenly-- the door was open!! How did that happen???!! Still didn't occur that someone had been using the bathroom!! Sometimes, I just have to...laugh?? Sometimes I find it hard. Let me mention she is always late coming to work, always taking the odd hour off early, always taking the two hour lunch instead of the requisite hour so she sets my nerves raw anyway. I found this breach of intelligence kinda funny though. Thanks for letting me share/vent?

OMG...I would lose my mind if someone repeatedly did that to me.

Hang in there! ;)

Sounds like she has issues. Maybe she is challenged in some way? I find it strange that a person could not comprehend someone entering a bathroom, locking it, doing their business, then coming out, then you have your turn. Seems like a simple concept she is unable to grasp.

Someone freaking out and getting hysterical over that scenario is just not normal.

Does she have what dh and I call "relativeability"; meaning she does not follow the place of employment rules yet there are no consequences. These people we find strutt around like they own the place! b/c they are related to someone in someway. . .

Maybe she's a control freak. I work with a Nancy Know-it-all Buttinski who does all the same things your co-worker does (and gets away with it! :sad2:). But I don't think she would freak out over a locked bathroom door, due to the sequence of what usually would happen with one bathroom.

Put a bucket outside the bathroom with the following sign on it.

"In case of emergency, use bucket".

I can only imagine what would have happened if you had left the door unlocked :scared1:

Sounds like "relativeability" to me too - like that, I'll be sure to use it :thumbsup2

Sorry, this would have made me stay in the bathroom long after my need to use the facilities had been met. ::yes::

Nancy Know it All Buttinski ahahahaha :rotfl2: Love it.

I actually work with a girl like that too. She knows EVERYTHING there is to know about everything! She's very passive aggressive too. OMG i cant stand ppl like that! OP, in your situation i would have asked her: "did it not occur to you that someone might be in here???" :furious: so that she gets the hint next time she decides to break the door down!

I actually knew-- I KNEW-- it would be funnier to come out and have her wonder how the door was suddenly open!! Is it scarier that I know the outcome of such things or what??
She gets away with so much and never gets called on it and she is not related to the management. It really brings morale down some days. Yesterday, she was trying to sneak out an hour and a half early, realized the boss was out and about and could catch her so she literally backed up (looked like Katie in "Horton Hears a Who") stealthily to her cubicle until she knew the boss was gone and then ran for the door! Ran!!
It's a joke anymore. If I did that kind of thing, I'd be looking for my next job to be sure. Some people are just lucky like that -- how? It's one of the questions I plan to ask God (and I want an answer!)

Next time she does that, stand up and announce in a loud voice, THE COAST IS CLEAR. REPEAT, THE COAST IS CLEAR. NANCY HAS LEFT THE BUILDING!

Maybe she's meeting up with someone from work? ;)
