I'm grumpy because you're dopey... A TR - Final Thoughts 10/15

When we last left off, I was almost in tears of frustration near the line for Soarin’. DH didn’t want to go on living with the land, or Nemo. I finally I just said, fine, I want to go on Capitan EO, then we can go back to the room or whatever. So we headed to Captain EO.

IMG_0247.jpg

IMG_0264.jpg

Captain EO was cute. So 80s! Not quite as awesome as I remember, but still cute.

Afterwards, DH told me he was going to buy me this shirt.

IMG_0280.jpg

I told him I needed the I’m “I’m grumpy because you’re Dopey”

We laughed and all was okay for a while.

We headed to the WS for lunch.

Boo… Canada, still holding a grudge for being closed this January…. So we just snapped this picture and hightailed it outta there!

IMG_0266.jpg

DH’s Dopeyness was starting to return, so we just headed straight to France.

IMG_0269.jpg

I got a ham and cheese croissant - DH got quiche. Why we both opted for hot food - I have no clue.

Croissant

IMG_0267.jpg

Quiche

IMG_0268.jpg

Will this yummy food wake DH up?

IMG_0271.jpg

Only time will tell…

We lucked out and found a table in the shade.

IMG_0273.jpg

Sitting there reminded us of the freezing cold morning in January we spent getting our pictures taken at o'dark thirty. Oh what I wouldn't have given for 40 degree temperatures at that moment!

We were still a little hungry and you can't very well eat in France without getting chocolate mousse - so we did.

IMG_0274.jpg

The caffeine and sugar work DH up a little bit. I asked him if he wanted to go back to the room, and he said no. We devised a plan and headed out.

As we headed back to Future World, we passed by the French Arm

IMG_0277.jpg

This is where we had our dessert part the night before the wedding. We decided to try to take a picture of us kissing in that location. I’ve got to say, for a self picture, not looking at the camera at all – I did pretty well – I got the eifel tower in there and everything!

IMG_0276.jpg

I've never seen Captain EO, so I'm hoping to be able to see it next time I make it to EPCOT. We'll see if I can convince whoever I'm with to see it too.

France has to be my favorite counter service restaurant at EPCOT. Their sandwiches, croissants and quiche are great, not to mention the desserts.

The food looks really good. I just love getting desserts in France!

I would say you did pretty good with your self-portrait. It is centered and everything :thumbsup2 DBF and I take pics like that so often, but we still don't quite have the hang of it!

Captain EO is definitely cheese-o-riffic, but I like cheese. Hope you can convince someone to go with you!

It was really the first time we've eaten at the France CS. It was yummy - Usually we hit up China or Japan - but France is now on our list too!

The sandwiches were nummy - definately worth going for more than sweets - not that those were bad either....

I was quite impressed with myself - especially since DH always says I have short little T-Rex arms

We decided to cut through Mouse Gears.

IMG_0287.jpg

IMG_0281.jpg

The Muppet Vynlmations are super cute!

IMG_0278.jpg

I was way overly amused by this R2D2 toy

102_0974.jpg

I LOVE this snow globe. If I wouldn’t need to ship it – I so would have bought it!

IMG_0283.jpg

This tea-strainer thingy is so freaking cute. I drink tea every day at work, and have a ton of loose tea. This is so mine!

IMG_0284.jpg

I wonder if this actually cooks evenly – since the area in the ears is smaller than the big area. If it does – this is way cool!

IMG_0285.jpg

I pointed this out to DH – and explained the whole Dreamfinder thing. I always feel like I have to explain why I like figment because the ride is so lame now!

IMG_0286.jpg

We planned on getting FPs for TT, but they were already for 5:30, and we wanted to head to DHS, so we went to the single rider line.

IMG_0288.jpg

With such a cool line, why is this ride so boring?

IMG_0289.jpg

Test Track is NOT boring.

IMG_0290.jpg

IMG_0291.jpg

I took this for Panic, in honor of her new home

IMG_0292.jpg

We were both placed in the same car, with a family of 4. The little boy in the family decided he wanted to ride with his sister, so we got to sit together! Bonus! What great Single Rider line luck!

After our stint as crash test dummies, DH said he understood what I was saying about dinosaur. It's a bit more jerky and rough (which I know is what some people hate about it) which (to me) makes it more exciting. Test Track is kind of a snooze fest in comparison. (Though, now he’s claiming he never said that)

After Test Track, we rode Mission Space. It was walk on. What happened that no one likes this ride anymore? It never has a wait when we're there… it used to be a minimum 60 minute wait.

IMG_0293.jpg

IMG_0294.jpg

I really have to get over it and just let people pass me in short lines so I can soak in the theming and get better pictures

IMG_0295.jpg

I wonder if “mission control” is fun? I’d like to try it sometime!

IMG_0296.jpg

We’re going into Space? Like StarTrek? Ohhhh

IMG_0297.jpg

(me) you’re such a nerd (dh) that’s why you love me

IMG_0298.jpg

Space!

IMG_0300.jpg

I think Mouse Gears is probably my favorite store. It's just so fun and everything is there in one place. love it!

I've always been afraid to try Mission Space Orange. I've done the green side, which is kind of boring I'm not going to lie, but I'm too chicken for orange. I think it would be kind of cool though to see what it's all about, but I'm always afraid of feeling sick afterwards :( Oh well, I'll live vicariously through you!

It's so strange how Mission Space went from being so popular to seemingly forgotten. I can't figure out if it's the bad press that it got, Soarin' becoming the big hit of the park or some combination of those two things. :confused3

I'm actually very excited to see Eo again. Just for nostalgia's sake.

I LOVE this snow globe. If I wouldn’t need to ship it – I so would have bought it!

IMG_0283.jpg
Snow globe sales must really be suffering, now that you can't fly with them anymore! I always find those snow globe warning signs at the airport funny. I mean, seriously, how many people were flying with them in the first place?

I don't get this, either. But I'm not complaining...it's nice to know there'll usually be a walk-on ride that I love!

I really have to get over it and just let people pass me in short lines so I can soak in the theming and get better pictures
This is one of my goals for next month. Why is it so hard to do?

I agree with you on Mouse Gears - it's my favorite too. It has everything, but it's not so big and overwhelming like WOD.

I'm very curious about the green side. But I love the orange side so much, I doubt I'll ever try it. Guess I'll just have to ride it a bunch so you can feel like you're there. Anything for my readers :rotfl:

It's sad. Test Track (a.k.a. snooze-a-rama) always has a 30 + minute wait. I just don't get it. Maybe people think 1 flight simulator is enough. :confused3 I just hope they don't tweak it or get rid of it!

I'm actually very excited to see Eo again. Just for nostalgia's sake.

This is one of my goals for next month. Why is it so hard to do?

EO was great! Definitely don't miss it - it is SO 80's!

I agree - not complaining Mission Space is walk on as I do love it so, but it is just weird.

There's some programmed park-commando deep inside, and no matter how hard I try to suppress it - it comes out. Must not let people pass me. I need to work on that! Good luck with your quest.

We still had some time to kill before our fast passes for Soarin’ were ready to go, so we headed to Innoventions. I tried to get DH to do something, but he was not feeling it. We passed the Sum of all Thrills line, and it was a 5 minute wait. I hopped in it and before DH knew what hit him, I had this in my hand.

IMG_0302.jpg

IMG_0301.jpg

DH whined and complained, but I told him that Panic and her DBF highly recommended it.

Soon we were in the creation lab and DH turned into a 6 year old. It was adorable. I just let him have at it, and create what he wanted. We got up to the platform, and had to wait for 1 person to complete their ride.

IMG_0303.jpg

The attendant took our card and said, okay, so you’re going upside down 6 times. Excuse me? We got into the apparatus, and I suddenly remembered a bunch of talk about bigger people not fitting on this ride. I sucked it in and hoped I’d be okay. It was a little tight, but closed no problem. Phew!

Did our twisting turning adventure wake DH up?

IMG_0304.jpg

That ride totally made me dizzy, but it was fun. To continue our pattern of flight simulators, we headed to Soarin!

After that, our Soarin' fast passes were finally good, so we headed to the Land.
IMG_0306.jpg

IMG_0305.jpg

We got in line. This line is so so so boring. The only thing to look at were the lights.

IMG_0307.jpg

Since I’m a total nerd, I took a picture of them, because I liked the curves of the planes and I thought they’d be fun parabolic spaces to practice non-Euclidean geometry on…

That was like a whole new level of dork, wasn’t it

IMG_0308.jpg

Sorry. I just hate how boring this line is

102_0976.jpg

You can see from this picture how sunburned and red I am. DH apparently didn’t notice this, and I didn’t know. Just keep in mind how lobster-y I am.

102_0977.jpg

Soon we were in the boarding area.

IMG_0309.jpg

Hmmmm… Napa you say? They have wine there don’t they?

IMG_0310.jpg

Grrrr… I like beer instead!

IMG_0312.jpg

Soon, our flight attendant was giving us instructions.

IMG_0313.jpg

We front row seats! No shoe view – Yay!

We didn't get a chance to ride Soarin in January, and last (and only) time we rode it, the smells weren't working. That really adds to the magic. I so love this ride!

I forgot to take my shoes off before we took off, so I spent the whole ride scared to death my shoes would fall off. I was clinching my toes so tightly that my legs didn't work right when we landed.

After Soarin' we (okay, DH) decided to head over to DHS, and headed back to the international gateway.

IMG_0315.jpg

I made DH stop and get me a soda first. I was SO hot!

IMG_0317.jpg

It hit the spot for sure!

102_0979.jpg

Even though it was starting to cool off, I was so so so hot. I just couldn’t drink enough liquids. I couldn’t figure out why I was so hot.

We made our way through the international gateway and there was a boat waiting for us.

IMG_0321.jpg

I so wanted to try Sum of All Thrills last time we went to WDW, but we never got around to it. It seems pretty cool though!

I really enjoy Soarin'. It's such a cool experience from the top row. The first time I rode it, we were put in the bottom row and I just didn't really get the appeal. But after riding in the top, I definitely got it and came off the ride with a huge smile on my face!

I hope your sunburn doesn't get worse...that's the worst! I have really fair skin & tend to get burnt pretty easily. It stinks being in Disney and having to deal with that.

Glad to head that your DH enjoyed Sum of All Thrills. It's nice to know that something other than the train got him excited so far.

Sounds like you had a nice ride on Soarin', even with the shoe worries. That's great that you got to experience it with the smells working.

Your TR definitely is a reward! I love reading about trips in general, but it's way more fun when I'm reading about a trip that a friend took. I also know how easy it is to get caught up in reading on the DIS and then realizing it's 10pm and I still don't have my lessons finished! Haha, happened way too many times. I think I've been doing better with staying on top of the work this year except for the summer assignments that I did NOT want to assign (finished 2 classes of math packets, but I still have 2 ELA classes and each had to do 2 projects!).

Haha, yesterday I took a nap on the living room floor because I was that exhausted (I had After Care duty after school and then I came home and did work for about 2 hours). Howard called me, and I was just like, "Mmm ... 10 more minutes ..." Then he called me again after 15, and I didn't even hear it! Whoops! I put my ringer on the loudest volume too ... haha, I have the same sleeping habits as your DH.

Benefits of being a teacher! The nerd stuff would be GREAT for my job!!! When I tell my students that I was/am a nerd, some of they are like, "No, you're not; don't say that." And I have to explain to them that I'm PROUD of being a nerd!

Do they make Grumpy shirts for girls? If so, I definitely need to get one. Howard isn't the grumpy one; I am!

Mmm, what did DH think of the quiche? It looks perfect for a cool February day!!! Sent it to DFi to see although he probably shouldn't risk having cheese while on vacation since we're both lactose intolerant! I can handle that cheese though. But that mousse looks AMAZING! Haha, probably shouldn't risk having that either.

You know what I realized? Many of us DISers (myself included) say MouseGears. It's really MouseGear! I've been wrongly tacking on that s!!!

OoOoo, love the tea strainger Mickey head! Such a PERFECT souvenir for you if you say you have tea every day. I use tea bags, so it wouldn't make sense for me to use, but I really do love souvenirs that are useful and that can be used on a daily basis!

Great Single Rider line luck! Haha, reminds me of my trip in Feb 2008 when a family thought that the other single rider in the car and I were dating or something and asked if we wanted to sit together. Never mind the fact that he was like, a 35-40 year old Latino man, and I looked even younger than I do now!

Have you noticed both sides of Mission:Space having short lines? I'd never do orange because I know I'd get motion sickness. However, I'm interested in trying green especially if there'll be 4 of us this upcoming trip. I can't imagine getting FP for it and then going back to it. I think I'd have to do it once we got there. The shorter line would help with the nerves! Haha, I don't like trying new things.

Haha, going upside down 6 times?!? I'm dizzy just READING that!

I think that if Howard read TRs and he were reading yours, he'd get inspiration to take pics of me when I'm grumpy or tired ...

Sum of all Thrills was awesome - it's totally now on our "must do" list. I love the whole "math is fun" aspect of it too, being that I'm a math nerd. But it is super fun!

I agree, the top row on Soarin' is much better. We've been rather lucky getting the top row most of the time.

I burn first then get a tan, but I can usually prevent it with sunscreen. I was applying regularly, but I think I was sweating it off :scared1:

:rotfl: so true, though I this DH was much more excited about the train :rotfl:

I really like Soarin' but because we don't ride it often because of the lines, I forget about the whole - loose shoes might fall off. Nevermind that they announce it like 8 times:laughing:

Yeah, I totally get wrapped up in TRs too. Then all of the sudden DH will be asleep, and I'll still be reading. It is more fun reading about DISFriends' trips!

:lmao: too funny about your napping! DH does that all the time too!

I'm a proud nerd too. It's so funny, when your in middle and high school nerd is a dirty word. Once you hit college, true nerds start embracing their nerdyness and flaunting it!

I'm so the grumpy one in our relationship too! I haven't seen girl shirts, but I haven't actually looked for them, so I don't know for sure. Unlike nerdyness, I try not to advertise my grumpyness!

Wow you're right it is MouseGear. That just sounds weird now!

I use tea bags too, but people buy me loose tea all the time. Since I work in a stuffy office, it is fun to have something like that that is Disney, but not overtly so, so I don't feel weird having it at work!

:rotfl: you have the funniest "Disney People's" perception of you stories. Is the 40 year old the father of your 10 year old son? :rotfl:

Yes, both sides of MS are totally empty after 3 every time we go! The Green Side usually has an even shorter line than the Orange. I get motion sick very easily, and the only time I felt icky on Mission Space was when we went right after drinking 3 margaritas in Mexico. Not a good idea!

Yeah, Sum of all Thrills was totally fun, but I could only do it once in a row. My stomach couldn't take it!

Don't worry, I won't intentionally give Howard any ideas :rolleyes1

We took a nice peaceful ride around the lagoon, and ended up at DHS.

IMG_0318.jpg

IMG_0320.jpg

What? I’m awake… I swear!

IMG_0319.jpg

Soon, we were entering DHS and were at the Crossroads of the World.

IMG_0322.jpg

For those of you keeping track, it is 6:00 and we're on Park #3 - and we didn't start moving until 10.

102_0980.jpg

Our main goal was to ride Star Tours on last time before it goes down for referb, so naturally, our first stop was the Annimation Academy.

IMG_0326.jpg

(DH) I don’t want to wait (me) take a nap!

IMG_0331.jpg

You know, you can close your eyes, you don’t need to sleep with your eyes open?

IMG_0330.jpg

Soon, we got into the class…

IMG_0338.jpg

Huh? Where are we? What are we supposed to do?

IMG_0339.jpg

Our animator reminded me of a grade school teacher.

Very different than the dry sense of humor our last animator had!

She said she likes surprises, so she was going to have us guess who we were drawing. She asked if anyone didn't like surprises, and of course DH had to raise his hand. So she showed him who we were drawing and asked him if he wanted to stay. What a dork!

We got this far before someone guessed who we were drawing…. Do you know?

Uh-oh, I sense a bad sunburn problem coming on...

"parabolic spaces to practice non-Euclidean geometry on"
Wow. I'm impressed! I'm a nerd, too, but more of an English nerd than a math one. I couldn't even make it through my first semester of college calculus. :confused3

I've never done the Animation Academy, but it's totally on my list for next month.

Somehow I got way behind on your TR, but now I'm caught up. I missed bedtime by an hour, but I'm caught up! :)

I think I may be married to your DH. Machines? Trains? Oh yes! He's a mechanical engineer, so while my boys and I are thinking "that looks like fun!" he's thinking "I could totally take that apart." :rotfl:

Until I read a couple of TRs, I didn't know about the Sum of All Thrills at Epcot. (We tend to avoid crowded indoor things as much as we can.) If DH ever finds out about it, the only thing that's going to save us is going to be his inexperience with roller coasters. (Seriously, he was almost 30 before he rode one, and now his grand total is 3 -- Space, Big Thunder, and Primeval Whirl. 4 if you count Splash.)

Pooh!!

.....Since I’m a total nerd, I took a picture of them, because I liked the curves of the planes and I thought they’d be fun parabolic spaces to practice non-Euclidean geometry on…

Love your trip report, you are freakin hilarious:rotfl2:

3 parks in that amount of time.... that is pretty impressive!

I've never done animation academy. It seems like such fun though. I need to add that to my list of things to do on a future trip :)

The force is strong in this one ;) See into the future you do (what? Star Wars is on... :rolleyes1)

 Yes, I'm a total math nerd it's what my degree is in and I just do problems for fun now. Actually, one of my friends is an artist and she and I did a whole series where I would pick a polar (circular) equation and graph it and she'd paint it. It was kind of cool I don't do English too good though  :cutie:

Definitely do the Animation Academy! It is so fun. We discovered it in January, and it's on our must-do list now.

Somehow I got way behind on your TR, but now I'm caught up. I missed bedtime by an hour, but I'm caught up! :)

I miss my bedtime all the time because of dis. It's so addictive :surfweb:

I'm trying to update this TR every day, so I can finish it before we leave for our October trip. As my poor neglected PTR shows, I'm bad at multi-TRing!

:lmao: It sounds like our DHs may have been separated at birth. Mine was so excited one time on Soarin' because we were at the end of the row. He spent the whole ride looking up trying to figure out how the ride worked instead of the movie :rotfl: He'll also just stare at things like a hair clip and I'll finally say to him "you're trying to figure out how they made that aren't you" and he'll sheepishly say "yes" Silly Men!

I never knew about Sum of all Thrills either, until my sister and her dbf rode it in January. We usually avoid Innoventions too. They were cutting through and her dbf works for Raytheon so they checked it out. Then proceeded to ride it 3 more times :rotfl: What saved me on that ride was the time limit. He had to work fast to finish - otherwise we would have been there all day!

My DH is also a "late bloomer" when it comes to roller coasters. Actually, he is allegedly afraid of roller coasters, but when I got him on them at Disney - he LOVES them.

Pooh!!

.....Since I’m a total nerd, I took a picture of them, because I liked the curves of the planes and I thought they’d be fun parabolic spaces to practice non-Euclidean geometry on…

You win the prize. But I don't really have a prize for you. Since I'm watching Star Wars now... will you accept this Yoda? :yoda:

Non-Euclidan geometry is geometry on a non-flat plane. So like shapes on a sphere and stuff like that. Serious Dork-a-tude.

Thanks for reading along! However, this TR is supposed to be a very serious account of our trip - guess I'm failing at that :lmao:

3 parks in that amount of time.... that is pretty impressive!

I've never done animation academy. It seems like such fun though. I need to add that to my list of things to do on a future trip :)

Yeah, I couldn't believe it either. I suppose just going into the MK for the train helped

Do the Animation Academy! It is so fun. We just discovered it in January, and it is totally a must do for us!
