I'm grumpy because you're dopey... A TR - Final Thoughts 10/15

I'm glad DH was amusing someone :rolleyes1 It's a Cannon Powershot SD1400 IS. We're not patient enough to try anything better than a point and shoot.

I :lovestruc that camera. I re-bought it after I lost it last trip!

YEA!!! I LOVE Canons - that's what all mine are. My PowerShot A1100IS is going to WDW!

Oh gosh.. I love the pic of your DH waiting on the bus. It definitely goes along with your conversations of the morning :)

I can't wait to see if he slept the night away....but with the thought of buying the D&B bag, I have a feeling that's a no! On a side note...I love those bags. My DBF bought me one of the white sketch wristlets for Christmas last year. I love it so much!

Well at least you're both negotiating on what you want to do now, right? He got to nap, you got to go to DTD to shop & then you hook up to both go out to dinner? SOund like progress to me :lmao:

I wonder what it will be- Narcoosee's or the bag. Based on your DH up to this point that day though, I'm betting on the bag. Is he going to be dopey for the rest of the trip?

We have a Kodak and a Nikon too - but we always fight over the Canon. Lucky camera - it gets to go to Disney!

 Later, DH was asking me how bad he was, to prove my point, I showed him that picture!

Way to go DBF - what a great Christmas gift. The sketch bags are so cute!

One more update until the big reveal :rotfl:

At that point it was starting to not be fun for me either - he was just so out of it and sleepy. It's weird feeling like you're making Disney a chore. So progress it was :rotfl:

Still giggling at your TR, bravo!

Thanks for reading and for using the word giggle. I love that word, so so much better than laugh!

I wonder what it will be- Narcoosee's or the bag. Based on your DH up to this point that day though, I'm betting on the bag. Is he going to be dopey for the rest of the trip?

I thought it was a fair compromise - either way I got something I wanted (yeah... I should probably re-look up the definition of compromise...:cutie:)

All I'll say, is between the two of us, we channeled all 7 dwarfs on this trip. (well okay, that might not be true, since I'm not sure either of us either donned glasses to channel doc - but you get the point...)

i have read your TRs and I love them all! You are hilarious :thumbsup2

:wave2: howdy. Thanks for popping in. Glad you're enjoying the TRs!

We made our way back to the room, and I decided to take a quick shower. I was just so hot! I got a text message from my mom, so I sat out on the balcony and called her and read a little. By the time I left maybe 25 minutes after we arrived, DH was snoring away. I didn’t have high hopes he’d be waking up any time soon.

I was kind of procrastinating leaving - I hate doing things on my own. I'm better in settings that I'm comfortable in, so I at least entertained the idea.... I just couldn't see checking out for the night just yet, so I finally sucked it up and pretended I was Jean Luc Picard again. I looked around and finally said "Make it so Number one" then stopped talking to myself before I opened the door, so people wouldn't think I was crazy.

I headed out to the boat dock.

I was so thirsty, so I got some juice.

IMG_0157.jpg

I had a little bit of a wait, so I soaked in more of the sights of OKW.

IMG_0156.jpg

IMG_0158.jpg

IMG_0160.jpg

IMG_0159.jpg

Eventually, the boat came and I was on my way.

IMG_0161.jpg

IMG_0162.jpg

IMG_0163.jpg

I'm not sure how I feel about the tree houses. They seem too rustic. My idea of communing with "the great outdoors" is driving down a country road with the windows rolled partly down.

IMG_0164.jpg

Finally, DTD came into sight.

IMG_0165.jpg

IMG_0166.jpg

I very much would like to try Bongos some day… if only because it’s building is a pineapple and you gotta have respect for that.

IMG_0167.jpg

Who knew DTD was this pretty? Not me!

IMG_0168.jpg

We stayed at SSR last year, but we were so far away from the boat launch, we never used it. It was my first DTD from my resort experience. And I've got to say - I loved it!

I am so in suspense about your nap v. dinner situation. If your DH's anything like mine...my money's on the bag! :rotfl:

I'm kind of like you....I'm not a big fan of going off on my own in situations like that, but how cool that you did. And at least you didn't have to worry about grumpiness :thumbsup2

I took one of the boat rides to DTD in May and loved it. It's always fun to find things that you haven't done yet!

I kind of agree with you about the Treehouse Villas. I don't know how much I'd like it there. :confused3 Glad you enjoyed the boat ride! It is pretty nice. :thumbsup2

The views of Downtown Disney from the boatd are great, aren't they? And I highly recommend Bongos. The archetecture (pineapple included) is wonderful and the food was fantastic.

:rotfl: Sorry to make you suffer, there's one more update before the "big reveal" :rotfl:

(but at that point, my money was on the bag too - it must be a DH thing...)

Yeah, I'd much rather be with someone, but I'm starting to feel comfortable enough at Disney, that wandering on my own isn't as big of a deal, but it still took a lot of self convincing. Not having to deal with Dopey was a big plus at this point. It gave me a chance to defuse a bit :cutie:

The boat ride was very nice - a nice little hidden gem!

Yeah, there's just something about the Treehouse villas (and the Cabins at the Wilderness for that matter) that just doesn't appeal to me. But I suppose that's why there are so many different options - something for everyone.

I can now see why some people just love staying at the DTD resorts. It was so peaceful and lovely.

It was weird to see Downtown Disney as "pretty" but from the vantage point of the boat - it really was! Good to know Bongos is good. I've only read one report where someone went there. It's on our list, but there's a Cuban place literally across the street from my office that I frequent for lunch, so Bongos always gets bumped early on the list because Cuban food is so "everyday" for me now. But someday...

We ended at the Pleasure Island dock, and we all filed out. There was a red-flagged boat there that could have taken me to the Market Place, but where's the fun in that? So I set out walking.

IMG_0169.jpg

IMG_0170.jpg

Holy people batman!

IMG_0172.jpg

I will destroy the crowds for you

IMG_0173.jpg

Hopefully the marketplace will be less insane.

IMG_0174.jpg

I was genuinely surprised at how many people were there. Maybe because it was a Saturday night? I don't know - but it was crowded.

First stop?

IMG_0185.jpg

I just browsed, I really didn't have anything I needed to buy.

I thought the "I love nerds" stuff was so cute! I would never wear it, so I wouldn't buy it, but it was adorable!

IMG_0178.jpg

IMG_0179.jpg

It surprised me they had Halloween stuff out already.

IMG_0180.jpg

I wandered around, and checked out the D&B bags - in case DH needed to buy one for me  but they didn't have the one I wanted!

The WOD crowds and sensory overload were starting to really get to me, so I headed to my next destination.

IMG_0181.jpg

I was determined to take full advantage of my DH-free night and soak in the yummy smelling bath stuff.

IMG_0186.jpg

Ahhhh.... if only I actually had a bath to use this stuff in....
Our house is showers only. :sad1:

IMG_0187.jpg

At this point DH would be twitching making me leave – maybe there is something to this solo thing.

IMG_0188.jpg

Well hello there cute soap - I just love being a girl!

IMG_0189.jpg

Then I realized it was almost 7, and I needed to start thinking about heading back. However, I hadn't completed my mission. Scratch that... I hadn't started my mission.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

IMG_0190.jpg

This store totally got me excited for our December trip!

IMG_0192.jpg

I liked this ornament

IMG_0193.jpg

I loved this one, but I figured DH would kill me if I spent $40 on an ornament! (You know after he woke up, regained his senses...so I had a while if I decided to go for it, but I decided not to risk it)

IMG_0194.jpg

I settled on this one. I thought it was extremely cute – and it being under $10 didn’t hurt.

IMG_0195.jpg

Ornament in hand, I wanted to stop into Art of Disney, but it was almost 7:30, (yeek! I think DH's Time suckage vortex was rubbing off on me - I had wanted to be back at the villa by 7:30) so I needed to head back. I wasn't too worried, because had a sneaking suspicion I'd be back anyway since I had serious doubts DH would wake up…. I decided to just take the bus since I was right there instead of trekking all the way back to Pleasure Island.

IMG_0196.jpg

Will Joanna make it back to OKW before 8? Will Chris ever wake up? Do our heroes recover from nap time and live to see another Disney Day? Who shot JR? Tune in next time to find this out and more....

:happytv: I think it was his sister-in-law!
:rotfl::lmao::rotfl:

Carey

The I Love Nerds stuff is too cute! I haven't seem it before!

I really enjoy Basin, but like you, I can't usually convince DBF to spend much time in there...must be a guy thing :)

:rotfl::rotfl: Spoiler Alert :rotfl::rotfl:

It was the first time I saw the I love nerds stuff too. It's so cute. If I was a tween, I'd be all over that. Actually, I'd secretly love it, but be waaaaaay too cool for it. :rotfl:

Yeah, Basin is waaay too girly for DH. They need to take a lesson from Arribas Bros. and have someone using a torch in the middle of the store :rotfl: Though I'm not sure how you would use a torch to make bath stuff...

I think "I will destroy the crowds for you" is the best caption yet.

As I walked back to the room, I was bracing for the argument I was sure I'd be having with DH as I woke him up.

I put my key in the door, took a deep breath, and walked in. I was prepared to jump on the bed and start pleading with DH to wake up.

Imagine my surprise when I walked in the room, and he poked is head out from the balcony and was already dressed and wide awake reading the Hidden Magic book!

Okay Ashton... where are you? I'm 100% sure I'm being Punk'd now!

I couldn't believe my eyes. Note to self - threatening DH with expensive accessories does the trick!

It was a Disney Miracle!

He looked at me and said – I thought you said you’d be back at 7:30. Look – don’t push it buddy! I was so happy!

We headed out to the bus stop to catch a MK bus.

It’s blurry, but I couldn’t believe that after a 3 hr. nap, he was still yawning!

IMG_0198.jpg

I tried to catch him again, but he was on to me…

IMG_0199.jpg

Self picture!
IMG_0201.jpg

I think he was still leery of being awake and trying not to yawn so I couldn’t take a picture.

IMG_0203.jpg

Have you ever wondered what happens if you forget to take off the zoom on your camera, then try to take a self picture?

I'm keeping an eye on you!

IMG_0206.jpg

Maybe I was the one that needed the nap!

Soon the bus was on it’s way

IMG_0204.jpg

I really hate using the MK as a hub to go other places. I just kills me to get so close, and then not go in. As we were pulling into the MK, we started to get nostalgic for the Contemporary and Polynesian. So we talked about doing a monorail tour and stopping at both resorts - we had about 45 minutes until our ADR.

Then my better sense got a hold of me, I just knew we'd get distracted and be late for our ADRs and I had it perfectly timed for the fireworks. So we decided just to take the boat over to the GF.

IMG_0207.jpg

We walked around the GF grounds a bit - it brought back memories of our wedding trip when we stayed there.

We popped into the gift shop and I saw a print of the Wedding Pavilion. I thought that would be perfect, plus we got 10% off with our APs - bonus! I knew there was a reason we just went to the GF!

IMG_0499.jpg

We then walked back to Narcoosee's and checked in a bit early. We received a pager, and walked outside.

Just as we did, the Electrical Water Pageant started. I totally forgot about it. We watched it and it brought back memories of the wedding trip as we could see if from our room at BLT.

IMG_0208.jpg

But, what we didn't realize is that we could only see 1/2 of it from BLT. So we were both shocked to see the 2nd half - with the fish, and the dinosaur and alligator and triton.

IMG_0209.jpg

We had no idea it was there! No wonder the music lasted so long.

IMG_0211.jpg

(Okay…. Okay… so maybe DH isn’t the only one who turns off his brain at Disney after all…)

At least we knew to expect the Patriotic Finish…

IMG_0212.jpg

IMG_0213.jpg

After the Electrical Water Pageant, we were seated, and we didn't have a proper window seat, but we were seated on the first level facing the window (or I was) very nice.

IMG_0218.jpg

Very soon, we were seated and had our glasses of wine. (Conundrum if you care…)

IMG_0214.jpg

We got the civeche for an appetizer. I wasn't a fan. It had some flavor that just wasn't my cup o'tea. But DH really liked it.

IMG_0216.jpg

As we were eating, Wishes started. We watched it a bit, but as DH said "I've seen this so many times, I think I still remember the order" since we watched it a ton in January.

Then our entrees came -
DH got the Tuna. He said it was okay - not his favorite. I tired it, but it was way too spicy for me.

IMG_0222.jpg

I got scallops. They were delicious, and there was a yummy corn risotto that they were served with. Yum. DH was jealous.

IMG_0221.jpg

We were talking to the waiter and found out he got married at the WP too! How cool is that?

DH ordered a specialty coffee. As you can see he woke up to make it to dinner, but he definitely wasn’t awake… (well either that or the coffee was really interesting….)

IMG_0223.jpg

I got a glass of port

IMG_0224.jpg

We decided to split dessert and got the crème brulee duo. The flavors were coconut and keylime.

IMG_0225.jpg

After dinner, we took a bus to downtown Disney.

The bus better come soon, so I can go to sleep!

IMG_0226.jpg

As you can see, my robot friend successfully destroyed all the crowds. Good robot.

IMG_0227.jpg

We got back to the room and fell asleep right away. We were so so so so tired and full.
