I'm grumpy because you're dopey... A TR - Final Thoughts 10/15

Love your pictures of OKW! It looks like that might be the resort to lure us away from POR!

How did I miss this? I'm so glad to have found another one of your TRs.

Old Key West looks nice. We took a bus there to take a boat to DTD in May, and I was curious about what the rooms looked like. That's funny about that high bed.

Looking forward to the next update!

Woo hoo, thank you for the OKW pictures! It does look beautiful! So excited to stay there. Can't wait to hear about your day. popcorn::

Haha... I figured you'd like the pictures :rotfl:

OKW looks beautiful!

I hear ya about the TVs. They must be planning on upgrading them all, right? And it's just taking them forever? It really is ridiculous.

I really liked OKW. I wasn't expecting much, I figured it would be like SSR - nice, but way too big. Maybe it was the location of our room, but I didn't feel like OKW was giant, even though I know it is.

The TVs totally don't make or break a vacation, I just think it's a bad show of face on Disney's part. I know some resorts have the new TVs (like BLT) so hopefully they'll eventually upgrade them.

Our family is like your DH, only we call it going on a "pop" run. It'll take us hours to come back from running up to the store to buy some pop (soda, coke, whatever they call it in your neck of the woods). Although we all do pretty good when it comes to catching a plane or arriving for dinner :lmao:

Looking forward to hearing how your day at AK went :goodvibes

Glad to know other people suffer from that vortex too. (and I'm in the small pocket of WI that calls it "soda" :cutie:) DH was 5 hrs late to our second date :sad2:

You're in luck - the first AK update should be up shortly!

Some people read books when they can't sleep...........................I read WDW trip reports. :rotfl2: I love them. I read the first entry and then decide from there. I can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip!

Pics of OKW are great. Looks like an awesome resort. :thumbsup2

I do that with TRs too - read TRs when I can't sleep and read the first entry to decide. Glad mine passed your "test" and you're on board :cutie:

I was skeptical of OKW when we booked, we booked late, and it was one of the only resorts available. But I would stay there again in a heartbeat. It was lovely.

i love reading your trip reports. i just joined the boards and i think i read all of your trip reports in about an hour. so im in on this one. also nice to see a fellow Wisconsinier. Wisconsinite? :confused3

First off Welcome, and congratulations to you for not being sick of my yammering yet! There's quite a little group of us Wisconsinites (I had to google it it make sure - but I think that's the right one ) on here. It's so fun to "meet" people from WI on DIS. Makes me feel not so alone in my obsession :lmao:

Love your pictures of OKW! It looks like that might be the resort to lure us away from POR!

:wave2: Hi and Welcome. I haven't stayed at POR yet, but we might be soon! We've toured POR FQ and really liked it. OKW might be a good variety for you. Our DVC advocate told us, since it was the first DVC resort the rooms were the biggest. We definitely could tell that. The extra space was nice. Plus you still have the boat to DTD and a dedicated bus. We both really liked it and will definitely be staying there again!

HELLOOO WISCONSIN :cool1:

Subbing in! Central WI here :wave2:

Carey

Hellooooooooooooooo.... I'd so rather be associated with That 70's show than Happy Days! :lmao:

Hello to another Wisconsinite! Glad to have you on board :goodvibes

The bus was crowded; we got the last two seats! We had little hope for the park being not crowded, but nearly everyone got off at Blizzard Beach.

Soon, we were through the gates and soaking the loveliness that is DAK

Soon, the Tree of Life was in sight. I seriously could just spend all day staring at it pointing out all the different animals.

What can I say, I’m easily amused?

I suppose now is as good of a time as any to explain the title of the TR, since I’m pretty sure it was the first time it happened this trip….DH was still sleepy, and therefore very dopey. I was hot and therefore crabby therefore….this conversation took place at least 3 dozen times this trip
Me: "What do you want to do?"
DH: "I don't know"
Me: "Do you want to go on (insert ride here)
DH: "I don't care"
Me: "Do you want to stay here"
DH: "I Don't know"
Me: "Fine let's go on (insert ride here)"
DH: "I don't want to"
Me: "Okay, what do you want to do?"
DH: "I don't know"
Me: "That's not helpful, you need to make a decision"
DH: "I'm relaxing"
Me: "Well, can you un-relax and at least turn on your brain a little?"
DH: "You're grumpy"
Me with full fledged exasperation in my voice "Because you're Dopey"
DH: "I'm not Dopey"
Me:"What do you want to do?"
DH:"I don't know"
At this point I would charge off in the direction of whichever ride or whatever I wanted to do, and he would follow asking "why are you mad?"

I'm sure people thought we were nuts or that we hated each other. Which is not the case. He just literally turned his brain totally off, it was so frustrating.

Where did I storm of to this time?

IMG_0046.jpg

Along the way, I stopped to let sleepy catch up, and take in the prettiness

This is my summer house (my real house is in Epcot’s China)

IMG_0051.jpg

Soon our destination came into view

One of the things in the Hidden Magic view, is how well Asia’s Corporate Sponsor is placed and hidden in plain sight.

IMG_0049.jpg

Suddenly, I want a Pepsi!

IMG_0052.jpg

There was something about this truck in the Hidden Magic Book – but I’m too lazy to go look up what it is about it to remember why I took a picture of it.

IMG_0055.jpg

Wow.. I bet you’re thinking… are they at Everest yet? No? Maybe you’re thinking “Mmmmm Tacos”

IMG_0056.jpg

Once we made it to Everest, the wait was only 20 minutes, but we were sweating already, so we decided to grab fast passes and head to the Kali river rapids.

I love your summer house! You should totally invite me over some weekend. I'll bring the beer. And the Pepsi.

Whoops - don't know how I missed your comment. Sorry. It should be know that this is what happens when you come late to one of my TRs :lmao: Okay, not really at all - I have no idea why I missed it. Sorry.

Thanks for reading along. The rooms at OKW were nice and large - they were just built for giants and high jumpers :rotfl:

Haha! You can come on over any time ~ especially if you bring the beer :cutie:

Enjoying your TR so far - LOVE the title!!! It sounds like a conversation DH and I would have. :lmao: We're staying at POR and AKL on our next trip in just 27 more days - WOO-HOO! Can't wait to hear more about your "quickie" adventures. :rotfl:

Hello there! Thanks for joining in! So jealous for your upcoming trip! Sounds like it will be fun we love AKL!

***********************************************

So, the football game is just sad.... so you get two updates today. The Eagles misfortune is your gain...

We headed to Kali River rapids, and the line was non-existent.

IMG_0057.jpg

IMG_0058.jpg

IMG_0059.jpg

The line was moving really fast, I kind of wish we could have gone slower. But the people behind us were rushing. So I just was clicking away with the camera.

IMG_0060.jpg

IMG_0060.jpg

Some came out good… but some just came out creepy

IMG_0062.jpg

IMG_0063.jpg

Finally we slowed down and DH said to me – did they change the line to Everest? I thought there was yeti stuff here before.

IMG_0064.jpg

Um…. We’re not at Everest…

Ohhh….

IMG_0065.jpg

In line, I asked DH to give me my poncho. He wears cargo shorts, and we try to travel without a bag, so he's in charge of holding everything. He asks me why I need the poncho. I explained that I didn't want to get soaked. He said "well isn't that the point, it's hot out" I said, yes, but I also don't think the world needs to know what color bra I'm wearing. He gave me the poncho and proceeded to make fun of me. Telling everyone I was a cheater.

For such a hot day, the line moved really fast. I hadn't been on this ride in years, because we always come during cold seasons when we really really don't want to get wet. It was quite fun actually. We got splashed pretty good, I had the hood down on my poncho, so I got wet too. Wet is okay, soaked isn't fun.

As we're leaving, DH says, "My underwear is soaking wet" I said, "see - who's the weirdo now?"

IMG_0068.jpg

After Kali, we had the afore mentioned conversation again, and then headed to the Jungle trek. It was so hot, the animals weren't active at all.

IMG_0071.jpg

IMG_0072.jpg

DH was mad jealous of this guy – he wanted to be napping too

IMG_0073.jpg

This is such a cool themed drinking fountain (okay since I have so many Wisconsin readers, I’ll be honest – it’s not a drinking fountain, it’s a bubbler. Okay I said it… I feel better now…)

IMG_0074.jpg

BUBBLER!!! yes! ive lived in several states and that would always get me the strangest looks!! bubbler is so much cooler to say than water fountain anyway :thumbsup2

BUBBLERS! YES! I may now drink soda instead of pop and say "bag" like the rest of the country (instead of like in "bagel," though this linguistic retraining has made me get very verbally confused when I actually say "bagel" - and yes, I realize that probably makes no sense to anyone not from WI).

BUT THEY WILL NEVER TAKE AWAY MY BUBBLERS!

I feel so much better now that you said that too! :lmao:When my kids were little and we were out of Wisconsin traveling. I would have them go and ask someone where the bubbler was! :lmao: They would get the strangest looks! (I know I'm a mean mom!) It didn't take long for them to figure out what I was up to! :rotfl:

Yay! I knew people would know what I was talking about. Drinking fountian is just too long and laborous for what it is. Bubbler is so much better :rotfl: I get weird looks when I say it too - but that could just be because I'm me...

Actually, I drink soda too, so I can't fault you for that.... and I followed your linguistic lesson perfectly - which probally should scare you a little  As long as you can still say "Ma-waa-key" correctly, it's all good :cutie:

Once we were at Jiko, talking to the bartender, and he asked where we were from, since we had a couple drinks in us, the drawl was unmistakable - usually I try to hide it at least a bit. We said "Ma-waaa-key wi-SC-nsin" he just looked at us and shook his head and said "yes you are" He was from West Bend, and said that people from all over Wisconisn would tell him they were from Milwaukee, but he could tell the people who really were, because they pronounced it "correctly" :rotfl:

Haha... my mom would do the same thing :rotfl: I wonder if there's anywhere else that calls them bubblers? We should start a bubbler revolution

My DBF always makes fun of me on Kali. I put on my wonderful poncho & he refuses. Of course, we always get hit really bad, and then he is stuck walking around with wet shoes and clothes. I never intend to brag about it to him after the fact, but I am always just as dry as can be :) Some day he'll learn to listen to me! haha

Bubblers and soda! :lmao: I was asked what a bubbler was once, it was funny as heck! I never thought I had an accent, until I heard it back on my sister's answering machine( she lives in Illinois :scared1:) I said "ya hey" and it was eye opening:rotfl:

It's so fun having all these Wisconsinites on this thread - you guys "understand" me! I used to claim I didn't have an accent, but now I embrace it. I'm from Ma-waaa-key, yah hey?

Then it was time to use our fast passes for Everest, so again, we had the conversation, and headed to Everest.

IMG_0075.jpg

IMG_0076.jpg

IMG_0077.jpg

I asked DH if we wanted the good camera for the ride. He asked why? I said, I thought you might want to bake a cake. He looked at me really perplexed. Poor man. I'm pretty sure he left his brain back in Milwaukee! So I explained that usually he likes to take pictures from Everest, so I thought he might like to have the camera.

He looked at me like I had just explained to him how to tie his shoes for the first time. Finally he took the camera, and woke up a little. When he saw the trains and realizes there was machinery.

IMG_0078.jpg

IMG_0080.jpg

OMG this is a rollercoaster?

IMG_0081.jpg

(These pictures since taken by DH will be told from DH’s thought perspective…or at least my take on his thought process) I’ve taken a picture of my wife to distract her. Now back to my true love.

IMG_0082.jpg

Hey good lookin’ do you come here often?

IMG_0083.jpg

Uh…oh… she’s on to me… maybe if I pretend to take a picture of her, she won’t notice you…

IMG_0084.jpg

Uh oh she’s on to me… I better warn her about Yetti…
Me: Yetti?

IMG_0085.jpg

Here we gooooooooooo….

IMG_0086.jpg

IMG_0087.jpg

Yetti!

IMG_0088.jpg

Machinery?

IMG_0090.jpg

(to quote old Stacey) There doesn’t appear to be any track up there…

IMG_0091.jpg

Me: Whaaaaaaaaaa?????????

IMG_0089.jpg

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

IMG_0092.jpg

Uh…oh…. Not again….

IMG_0094.jpg

we’re going down….

IMG_0096.jpg

We went into the shop and saw, what for us was the funniest ride picture we'd ever taken. We normally don't play it up for the camera, so this was just priceless!

IMG_0098.jpg

Then as we left Everest, DH’s brain went back to sleep… I’m not sure what it was about Everest… maybe the Spirit of the Yetti that inhabited me in June? But at least he was conscious and rocking for 1 ride!

Your conversation is like the buzzards on the original Jungle Book :lmao:

Whatcha wanna do

I dunno know. Whatcha wanna do

I dunno know but let's do SOMETHING

ANd do you recall the one who announces, "I've got it, this time I've really got it"

But none of them like his idea so they go back to asking each other what they wanna do.

Sorry, I guess I amuse myself too....

Enjoying your TR. Your DH took some good pic's of EE.

THe picture you took of him after riding KRR :rotfl2:

I just read your latest updates this morning, and this is the only comment I can write because I have to rush off to work! AGH, I hate not being able to be on DIS often because of work!
