I'm Going To Start Eating At Home!

Boy, this past week has not been good. I've been out and about at the parks, hotels and DTD a bunch this past week. It seems like everywhere I stop to eat, a child gets sick. Maybe it's me!

Nothing like a nice dinner at Boma and having a child lose his dinner on the table next to you. The same thing happened at The Brown Derby at MGM. Yesterday, my sister and I were at Subway and a little guy lost it. Today, DD and I were in The Earl Of Sandwhich at DTD and a little girl about two tables from us got sick.

I felt so sorry for the kids, but it is really hard to enjoy eating when something like this happens. Parents, and I know I will probably get flamed for this, be aware of how your little ones are feeling. Too much heat, fun and junk food can take a big toll on them and on ME!!!!

Everytime I've eaten at 1900 Park Fare, a child inevitably throws up from the Strawberry Soup, in the restaurant, in the hallway, in the restroom...

I feel your pain!

I agree! (Unfortunately) I haven't been at WDW in the last month, but at a company picnic yesterday, a little girl threw up - twice. You feel so bad for them (and yet, are totally grossed out at the same time). Her parents thought she was fine after the first episode, fed her a hamburger, and then just shocked that she then lost it all over the Balloon Man! Poor guys deserves some hazard pay - yuck!

Awww poor kids. I had a sensitive stomach when I was younger. Id throw up at least 3x a day. I was like 8 and on tagaments. haha I can sympathize with the kids and "spectators". Eventually I could tell when I felt like that and avoided the public so I didn't gross people out. Oh well, hopefully your lil issues w/wee pukies will end soon!

It's bad enough our own kids but someone elses...blech.

Poor little kids. I never got sick like that but I used to get nauseous when I was overly excited and then eating on top of it. My ds was at a birthday party when he was about 7 and ate junk, it was hot and they were running around...tossed and then went on to play..

While my little girl hasn't thrown up at WDW, bad smells or one taste of bad food can set her off. It's hard. We try to be careful not to take her places that might smell "funny" or places that has food that she doesn't call gross. It may sound like catering to a "picky child" but she will throw up and that's just more drama than I am willing to go through or put the people around me through at WDW. I save the trying of new foods for my house, where I am prepared for any "issues"

My ds isn't/wasn't quite that sensitive. However, I can relate, he'd try and 'tough out' something he didn't like and all of a sudden it would come back up. A couple of times it was in a restaurant...he'd do it right on the plate. We were driving home from vacation and stopped for lunch. He ordered raviolis but was thinking it was fried ravioli that we'd had as an appetizer. He was trying to eat the ravioli since he ordered it and it wasn't a pretty sight. He now loves ravioli...go figure.

My youngest has thrown up at some of the finest places in WDW.

The first year in the lobby of the Garden Grill where the place was packed with guests waiting to be seated. I can't imagine that they wanted to go in after that.

The second year, all over his place at Cinderella's Royal Table.

I think the third year we escaped.

Heat, milk and buffets/all you can eats just didn't set well with the little guy.

Cross your fingers for us this time. Feralpeg beware! We're due to arrive on Sunday and will be at the Crystal Palace Monday.

I understand your situation. I spent 12 years working in a restaurant so I know a little about kids getting sick. But I also learned that it takes a long time for any kind of food poison to set in. More than likely it could be due to the heat. That can cause severe stomach cramps. It could be that they had been eating all day and it could have disagreed with them. A lot of parents don't realize the consequences about heat stroke or prolonged exposure to the sun especially for a child. I know this don't help you with your lunch and dinner issues but is something to think about.

if feel for ya on that one - but can say that i learned my lesson the hard way. heat and lots of food don't mix. (especially dairy products)

when it is sooooo hot out and when excitement levels are high, my son gets a queezie stomach. we now have learned to do the following:

avoid large meals (the dreaded buffets - we only do them at the very end of the day and after we have gotten out of the heat for a while) light meals or snacks were better thru the day.

keep pretzels or crackers on you to much on if you start feeling yuckie.

sip water or gator aid throughout the day - keep it with you. don't buy one mongo drink when you are very parched and chug it. all that liquid at once on his stomach would get him feeling poor.

if the kids/toddlers are small - try to resist the notion that you have to fill their little bellies with milk all the time. for us - dairy and heat just to not mix. the doc even told us to cut back on it if he was going to be very active in excessive heat.

hope some of this info helps someone out there. either to keep from horking or from having to see someone else do it.

Hey, here's a bright side: Since it is better to eat at home, look at all the money you will save. That means more souvenirs at WDW! Wheee!

LOL I just witnessed a moment like these at Pop Century Friday night. It was about midnight and I had walked down to the lobby to have my Boarding Passes printed out. A family ahead of me was just checking in with 2 little girls. The youngest was crying and the dad had her sitting on the counter while they were talking to the Front Desk CM. I noticed the Mom pull out a gallon size Ziploc baggy. When I looked back, the little girl was filling it up. LOL The parent's kept on with the check in process, while the flustered CM ran and got them a towel. A few minutes later, the Mom stuffed the baggy in her purse and they were off to find their room. Thank you DisneyAggie! My DS did not want to have glitter put in his hair but we were able to get him to pose with the big scissors (after the actual haircut). We were lucky to get in that day--we made three previous attempts (on three separate trips), but the barber shop was always packed!

My DS doesnt throw up, he gags If he smells something that doesnt appeal to him he gags. He has the weakest stomach when it comes to things like that, just like his dad and grandma. But now that he is getting older he knows how to handle it. I was hoping he would outgrow it, but since dad and grandma never did, I think he will have to live with it.

Luckily I didn't witness any puking while I was eating in WDW last week. However, my bf and I took his 6 and 8 year old with us and just like last year when we got in the Jeep for the 10 hour drive home the puke fest started Last year it was just one of them but this year both of them started 30 minutes after we got in the car. And of course, once they got home they were fine. I would attribute it to car sickness but they were both fine on the drive to WDW on this trip and last years trip. Maybe I am paranoid but I almost think they do that to me on purpose. We dealt with them having bad sinus infections and chest colds all week and I am really not trying to sound mean but my next trip to WDW will be sans kids. I guess I am just spoiled that way and I know that I could get sick just as easily but it is just too much to deal with sick kids while at WDW and still try to enjoy myself

When my bros(twins) were little until about age 9 they would throw up if they over ate or just burped or gagged wrong. Luckily, they always did it in the parking lots of the retaurants or back at the hotel!!! It didn't take much for them to start in...we still joke about it today...but when I look back at my diary entries as a kid, I was not a happy camper with barfing brothers and irritated parents!
