DEREK WAS AWESOME. I had no idea where our seats were, just that they were in the last section. We were in the 2nd row from the field, diagonal from shortstop. We befriended the row in front of us (family) and row behind (23 year old teachers gone wild) and when Derek came out we went one-two-three DAAAAAAARIIIIIIIIIK. He looked over and gave us a little wave then we all screamed and he laughed. We did it every inning and finally he was like giving us this low handed calm down! Just the fact that he acknowledges you, I think DJ is so classy! I swear he kept looking over at us during the whole game, my DH said he was keeping an eye on the psycho fans so we don't rush the field. The other team was warming up by us before the game and the players were signing autographs, the pitcher said it would be so sweet to pitch against Jeter. Well he did and Jeter got on base. Derek had three phenomenal plays. He played 7 innings, I understand he will play 9 tonight and Sunday if no rain out. I still have a headache from screaming so much. Everyone in my family forgot their camera, I was so upset. We have two really nice 35 mm with telephoto lens, but I did buy a disposable. Now I will have to wait until August to see him in Baltimore but I'm pretty sure we will never be that close again -- 150 feet away.
