I was asked a few months ago by a friend if I'd be willing to go to DW with them for a convention in March and help watch their kids. They have a girl, Ellie, who will be 23 months, and a new baby, Sam, who will be three months, when they go. Well, I hadn't heard anything for awhile, so figured it was canceled. Well, she just called me and said they are going and want me to go. They will pay my airfare, room, park entrance, food, etc. I only have to be available different times in the day to watch the kids. I love their kids, so that's not a problem. They may not take Ellie, so I'd just be watching Sam while they are at dinners and lunches. I told them I'd love to have Ellie there. They were concerned about me with both kids alone, but I said we'd do fine. It's their choice, so we'll see. Even if I only get to one or two parks, it's more than I thought I'd get this year. Our next scheduled trip is May 2005 for our 25th anniversary because our daughter, Sarah, is using our DVC points for her honeymoon this May.

Just wanted to share my good news!!!

Congrats on the trip:earsboy: Sounds like a great tradeoff to babysit in exchange for the trip:Pinkbounc

That's so nice! A free trip for a couple of hours of babysitting a day seems like a pretty sweet deal.

Do you think you can handle that little one on your own? If not, I think I could be available! :wave2: ::yes::

I think I can handle him, but, if not, I'll be sure to give a call!!

Actually, he's nursed right now, so I am going over to their house a few times a week until we go to give him a bottle. We may not need it, but I think his mom will feel better if she knows he'll take a bottle from me.

I think I may take that new Epcot tour while I'm there. The one on the segway. Cady said they probably won't need me till noon, and that's in the a.m.

I am just so excited!

Lucky you! I practically beg people to take me with them to WDW as an au pair and no one will do it. I think it would be great fun to have borrowed grandchildren in such a magical place :)

That is so cool, I would love to go to Walt Disney World and be a nanny for a family(that would be alot of fun)! I have always wanted to be a nanny for someone( and just because of going on trips or anything , I just love working with kid's)- And if they did go on trips that would just be an added bonus!:)

Nativetxn, I so agree. Adopted grandchildren are great. That's how I feel about these two. Some day, Sarah will have some kids, but until then, I'll just adopt everyone elses.

Way cool! Have a great time!
