I'm going to be a Birth Partner!

One of my closest friends is due to give birth at the end of November and she has asked me to be there with her. What an honour it would be to be present at the birth of a child. I am sooooo excited. She has waited a long time for this baby and has been through a lot. Her DH has a serious hospital/procedure/blood phobia and they both doubt that he will cope with the labour room. They are both happy for me to be there. It will be nice to be at a birth where I am not the one screaming.

Wow Joolz that is such an honour ! You are going to be so excited when her due date approaches. You might want to invest in a pair of boxing gloves so she won't cut your circulation off when she squeezes your hand!

I've already checked out her fingernails and thought 'those will need trimming'.

There is always the chance that her DH will cope better than they think, in which case I will bow out gracefully. Having said that, he had to leave the room and sit down once when she had a blood test.
