I'm going! celebration thread

I just got an e-mail about my bonus from work and with no vacation planned this year, I've got a wide open calendar. I'm thinking early May, how is that for you? :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Just think of the endless possibilities for swapping lenses! You could try the 70-200, I could try the 17-55 and the fisheye again. It would be magnificent! ;)

We will be at WDW in early May, maybe I should buy a Nikon just to try your lenses! ;)

Group Disney trip...... :cheer2:

DW and I just decide to take advantage of the $750 gift card promotion so we will be heading down over her birthday during late May

You noticed she only asked one of us about going! I guess we know where we stand. Does she think we won't share?:confused3

Bob, I think you getting a Nikon would be a great improvement for you!!!!!!

Not to hijack the thread, but I was *so* close to going with Nikon! The guy who got me started in serious photography used a Nikkormat and I almost bought one before going with Minolta.

Back to Ann's thread, it appears there could be more than a few Disboarders at WDW in early May!
Epcot Flower Show meetup (and subsequent photo contest)! ;)

Well now .... this is something to think about isnt it???? I have two weeks available at the timeshare this year. The unit I own sleeps up to ten and they are located about 5 minutes from Disney. I've never been down in May and it would probably be a nice time to go before the sweltering heat of summer hits.

Oh the possiblities for swapping and sharing lenses would be totally endless. :lmao: Looks like there are some others here that would want to get in on this little adventure too .... who knows what kind of stuff we could end up having at our disposal :rotfl2:

John ... I think she asked me because she knows I have a timeshare in the vicinity that is a waste on just one person :rolleyes1

My birthday is May 18th, can we go then? Huh? Can we? Oh wait, I wasn't yet invited. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1 Well, can we? :)

I got hassled one time for my 70-200.... I had them call a manager. My lens was allowed and we got some free fast passes for being hassled.

I'm going to for the 1st time In Feb 21-24! Strictly a girls get a way, no kids and no hassle over taking 20 shots of a park bench from all angles :lmao:

I went to Flickr.com and search disneyland. I've made quite a list of shots to try to 'copy'. I have a little notebook by area/ride w/ ideas to toss in the camera bag.

Roger/ GoofyontheHiSeas...let me know if you;ll be there! I love your shots! We will be striving to replicate your food shots :thumbsup2

Thank you. Have a great time :thumbsup2 Unfortunately I am working that weekend and will not be able to make it. Here are another couple of thousand pictures of Disneyland. Only the 2009 pictures are with a DSLR though. Disneyland Pictures

Thanks! We 'spoke' via PM's once and you've sent me your smugmug stuff. I have spent much time taking notes :surfweb: on settings etc. I'm still learning all this stuff and striving to get out on manual!

Sorry to miss you..maybe next time :goodvibes

I am totally hooked on DL. We've been the last three years and they keep updating, bringing back old attractions, and adding new ones. You might miss Haunted Mansion and It's a Small World because of the holiday overlay though. You should see Remember Dreams Come True (Disney's best firework show ever) but it only shows on the weekends.
Better at DL:
Pirates - Sorry but it is so much better at DL. The beginning sequence with the lightning bugs, the old man in the bayou playing, and the ambience of Blue Bayou make it so wonderful. Two drops and extended scenes make it great.
Space - Blown away the first time we rode it
Tiki - Walt's baby and it shows

Disneyland in general is loaded with details. MAinstreet actually still has the penny arcade machines, the magic shop where Steve Martin first worked, the apartment above the firehouse where Walt's Apartment was etc..

Photography shots:
Fantasyland has some unique building shapes and Mountains behind Toad and Peter Pan. Fanstasyland is amazing at DL by the way!!
New Orleans Square
Toontown is pretty cool. Much better than WDW's version.
You need to go to Disneyland Hotel. Alot of old photos and celebrity shots.
Indiana Jones Que is quite immersive.
I like Downtown Disney at DL. It is smaller yet still has most everything that WDW has.
Personally after six times at WDW I prefer not walking a mile between attractions and hours between parks. Don't get me wrong I love Epcot. But that's really all that I miss. California is wonderful. We have now hit LA, San Diego (Hotel Del Coronado the original Grand Floridian), Monterey, San Francisco, and Yosemite National Park. Oh how I miss it all.

Have a ball!!!

Yeah I leave tomorrow and they are experiencing 6 months of rain in three days!!

The worst is supposed to pass though today, there is still another storm coming, but much much smaller.

One nice thing for you, is when it is raining the locals tend to stay home, so the crowds are a lot less.

I've actually been rained on more in 10 total days in WDW, then I have in 44 years of going to DL.

Well at least you missed the tornado warning yesterday at Disneyland. ;) They closed the park early yesterday and today because of the rain. I saw some pictures of Main Street from yesterday and the water was up to the sidewalks. As Greg mentioned we have another storm due here in the morning and then just lingering showers.

Heading to WDW in just 7 days!

We are going down for an extended weekend. We're very excited. Brooke, our daughter, has no idea! We haven't told her anything. She won't find out until we pick her up from school.

Just bought a Disney Bear. We'll have that on the seat of the car waiting for her. She loves the Disney Bear book where Mickey and Disney Bear explore the Magic Kingdom. So as soon as she sees the bear, she'll know what's happening!

This will be my first trip with the D700. Looking forward to shooting with it!

We leave in 7 days!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I am hoping I'll be able to say the same thing for my next trip. Looking forward to seeing your photos of your excited and surprised daughter. :)

I've been trying to figure out how and when to tell her so I make sure I get her expression.

Just finished our day in the Magic Kingdom! And the D700 never cam out of the locker!

It poured all day!

But we had a great time! Did tons of attractions with no lines!
