I'm giving up teaching to become a plumber!!!

I had a backed up sink yesterday and had tried everything to get the clog cleared. We had a short snake but that apparently wasn't where the problem was.

So I called RotoRooter and they came out to give me an estimate. The guy looks under the cabinet at the pipes for about 30 seconds and turns around and says i can clean it out and get it running again and it will cost $192.20. But if I have to go on the roof it will be $10 more. (okay...I'm a moron...why would you need to go on the roof for somethin that is in the middle of my house and goes down Now I will say that if he had to go on the roof $10 wouldn't be bad because we had former tropical storm Alberto over top of us and had torrential rain coming down along with a few good gusts of wind so the poor guy would be a mess up there.

So after I pick my jaw up off the floor I tell him to do it (I figured by the time I got someone else out there it would be midnight and I would have to pay even more.)

I returned to my baseboard sawing (miter box and back saw on the floor in the dinning room!) and he goes to his truck and returns with this black thing that had a handle on it. Ten minutes later he says all done!! What you are done and I haven't heard any banging, cursing, or even seen any butt crack...what's wrong with this picture????

So I decided that if he can get almost $200 for 10 minutes worth of work then I'm outta teaching and going into plumbing!! heck I think I have a pretty nice crack to show off!!

as a former plumber,,, i gave it up. hated the job.



for 192 bucks,, he unscrewed two pipes, ran a rotary snake through the drain line, ?( which attaches to a vent pipe through the roof that sometimes clogs and causes back ups thus i may have to get on the roof,) odds are the clog was at the base of hte line where it turns to the main, yes its a simply solutoion with proper tools and knowledge, now,, keep in mind draino is corrosive and harmful,, drains are full of bacteria. it could be anything from rotten food, hair, diamond ring, so you never know whhat you are going to get into, 192 is a good price.

I don't think he even unscrewed the pipes! (I don't know because I was in the other room sawing) I was thinking all I needed to do was get myself a longer snake I would be golden!! Maybe that's not such a great idea!!
