I'm giving blogging a go. Post #4 - A little bit posh

You've sold me on this one-have to share with some best friends who treat themselves to Fiji every 2-3 years (the only holiday they ever take) - I know they would love it too! A joint week one year could be just the thing.

That sounds like a great plan. It would be a wonderful place to go with friends. We had tried to convince some friends to spend a week with us at Disneyland followed by a week at Navini later this year. Unfortunately they decided they couldn't afford it, so we did a rethink and decided to go to WDW instead. The plan is still definitely on the cards however.

You pay per bure, not per person, at Navini, so the 6 person Villa would work out quite economical for 2 couples. Off the top of my head, I think it would cost each couple roughly AU$250 p/n. Given that that covers all your daily tours and activities, plus exclusive beachfront accommodation, I think Navini is actually quite good value for money. :thumbsup2

I've just caught up with your blog - love your photos! The trip around NZ makes me want to go back there - such a gorgeous country :)

Thanks Andona :-)

Your words capture perfectly my own thoughts and attitude to travel! So very well said. Can't place this comment on the blog directly as realised I first need to create an id on one of the listed sites.

OMG - could your photos be any better? WOW! you certainly have an eye for capturing the magic moment. :thumbsup2

Oh and BTW; Mr Crabbie Pattie - 'snerk'

Thanks Aussie Wendy and Sugarglider for reading and coming back to comment. I'm having fun rehashing old memories and it's always nice to know who's reading along.

this is also why we travel. loving the updates!!!

we also get the whole 'why wouldn't you put the money towards a better use, ie car, mortgage, nicer furniture, bigger appliances etc.' and we always reply with 'because we prefer to travel and experience the world for ourselves'

love your posts :)

Cheers Alicia.

The ironic thing is that the two people who give me the most judgmental looks are two of the unhappiest people I know. I fantasize about winning lotto one day and taking them both on a holiday to show them what they've been missing out on.

I love those photos of the lakes and mountains! I've only ever been to Auckland and its beautiful there, but would love to go to the south one day :goodvibes:

And I agree with your latest post, if I were to be given a large amount of money to spend,I would use it on a holiday.Things come and go,grow old and smelly, but memories from holidays last forever (I just hope I don't get Alzheimer's :scared: ).

Your Pictures are Wonderful :thumbsup2 .... I'm Curious :offtopic: what type of camera do you use? :)

Thanks for the compliment. I've been so rushed off my feet at work lately, I haven't had any time to add to anything to my blog. But it's nice to hear that it's still being read.

I love my camera. It's a Panasonic FZ100 (predecessor to the current FZ200). I've often thought of upgrading to a DSLR, but am actually pretty content having a point and shoot that is easy to use and takes great photos in automatic mode. It's the third Panasonic FZ camera I've owned (I like to upgrade every 2-3 years) and I can't quite bring myself to try a different brand.

However, in saying that, a few of the pics of the Fiji blog were taken with my Sony TX10 - a small waterproof camera I bought for swimming and snorkeling.

Every person but one who I know has been to Fiji has loved it (the one who didn't is excused - they were there during a cyclone and hated the whole experience). It's a place I'd love to go to one day if money permits.

I really wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did. But it's now pretty much my favourite place to go.

Although, I do know a lot of people who go to Fiji and spend a whole week in one of the 5 star resorts at Denarau and I'm at a loss to see the appeal of that. Sure the resorts look lovely, but the beach there is reclaimed swamp land and nothing like the Fiji of blue water, white sand and colourful fish that I have fallen in love with. Each to their own I guess.
