Im noticing that my urges to go to Disneyworld are somewhere around once every 3 months. The problem is I can't seem to find anyone else who can afford to go or wants to go that often. How bad is it to go alone? I think I would get lonely. Whats one to do?

if you get lonely - just go to a meet or two.

always fun to meet people who love Disney as much as you do.

When are you planning to go ? I am going solo in Feb if can't find anyoneto go with me!!

HI Rosie:wave2: Nice to see somewhere other than the Focker thread. Don't foget I should be there around the same time with Mom.

Just go for it! I'm going tomorrow for my first solo trip (to Disney at least). Even if you do go with someone you aren't guranteed a good time. In fact they may make it worse. So why not go by yourself and do what you want to do?

DJ Disney Kid,

I'll be there December 4-15, and I've organized lots of small-group get-togethers for meals and other activities. I'll be meeting up with several people from DisBoards. If you can go during that time and would like to join us for anything, you can take a look at my schedule on other threads, or if you don't see it, send me a PM and I can send you a copy. If you would like to join me and the group for any of the meals where I still have space in the dining reservations, just let me know, so that I can save you a spot.

There are lots of us in the same situation, so you don't have to be alone at WDW if you don't want to be. It may be hard to find someone from home who is willing and able to go to WDW, but it's a lot easier to find solo travelers who are already planning to go to WDW, and meet up with them there.

I'll be there Dec 8th-16th and am having some meals with either Daisy or Colette's group, plus we'll all be together at alot of the same meals as one big group.

I'm also there solo Sept 29th-Oct 7th. I was able to get free dining via the Bounce Back Program. For the Sept-Oct trip I'll be dining at Le Cellier, 'Ohana, Tony's, Mama Melrose, Wolfgang Puck's, Whispering Canyon, Coral Reef, and Chef de France. My ADRs are for one, but there are always two chairs at those tables, so adding another person wouldn't be a problem. The night I'm going to Tony's, I'm also going to MNSSHP solo.

Anyway, if you're down there during either of those times and want to hang out with others for a few hours feel free to do so.

The good thing about going solo is that you can enjoy others company when you want to for a few hours, then still go off and do your own thing. My first solo trip I did the KTTK tour, Backstage Safari tour, and the Segway tour and had a ball. This past May I spent a couple of days just looking for Hidden Mickey's and plan to do so again for part of my Sept/Oct trip. Just go and do whatever you want, eat where you want, and maybe plan a few meals with a few fellow DIS'ers.

This is so encouraging to find that many venture to Disney solo :dumbo:
I am more of a fan than most I know and always wonder how I will keep up my fix alone. Luckily I am just a drive away, but there is $$ to consider. I think I'd be there monthly, if possible. But I think it's a great idea how you all plan your trips and then meet up - what fun!! :dance3:

My first solo trip to WDW was about two years ago. Prior to that I had gone many, many times with my family, but I was down in Orlando on business. You can't be that close to Mickey and not go visit!

It weirded me out only for a couple of minutes and then I LOVED IT. I found that I met so many people that I wouldn't have talked to had I been with my fam. A German family ate hot dogs with me after we chatted waiting in line for Tower of Terror. And I met the cutest English family with whom I'm still in contact with after sitting for an hour waiting for SpectroMagic on the curb with them.

Last year I was in LA for business and went to Disneyland by myself. That was equally as fun! I met a man there who had worked the parades in Disneyland and had met Walt Disney on a number of occasions. He had a lot of great stories about the history of Main Street (which is where he primarily worked). To think... I would have never had the chance to listen to him if I had not been by myself!

You'll find that even though it's weird not to have someone to share everything with, you will have tons of instant friends. There is also a fun freedom in doing whatever you want, whenever you want. You also roll through lines because a lot of them have special lines for single riders.

So relax and have a wonderful time!!! :cheer2:
