Well, because of the time of year (winter) we were unable to get our travel trailer sold, and therefore we missed out on the F&F deal.

Now, I hear that Disney is going to RAISE the price per point in March!

Then, at the last minute, my girfriend and I thought it would be a good idea (and fun) to go to WDW for a Presidents Day "just us girls" weekend, to check out the DVC resorts, take the tour, and personally visit each resort, so I would know exactly what it was I was buying into. We checked the airfare yesterday to fly to Orlando from Spokane - it's $600 OR MORE! No way would we pay that ridiculous amount, so we're not going.

I'm feeling very discourage about DVC now. I'm not sure if it'll ever happen for me and DH. :sad2:

I guess we'll just have to be DVC renters. Oh well...that's really not so bad! :cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2:

I am also looking to fly from Spokane to WDW and the cheepest we could find was $300 per person on Delta. We were originally going to do Disneyland this year but changed our mind when we found out it would cost more to DL than WDW $350 was the lowest. I am renting points this year. I was also thinking of buying into DVC but with airfare so high I dont know if it would be cost effective. Its not like us people in the Northwest can drive. And now we also missed out on the F&F. We might just buy resale if we decide to do it because we really want BCV or BWV as our home resort anyway. Good luck!

So far my discouragement has been with room availability. My DW and I tend to travel by the seat of our pants. For example, yesterday my DW said that our friends are planning a quick trip to WDW in March. Of course when I call my DVC resort there is nothing available.......not even the closet...or in any of the other DVC resorts. This frustrates me and I already own. Then the kicker is I could call Disney and book a room a BWV with out a problem and pay cash. So I take it that DVC owners, as I am now, have to be good planners and get very lucky with flights. We are from the Northeast and Southwest flies out of our local airport.......not to get you upset....but they have Ding flights to Orlando, the last one was $88 round trip. Of course with no place to stay we didn't book the flight.

I have been watching the dings and have seen nothing from Spokane to Orlando. I have seen Spokane to Seatle and Seatle to Orlando. You might be able to book something like that but I think it would make for a very long trip.

Southwest offers a few (very few) DING fares from time to time to Orlando from Seattle, Portland, and Boise, but they don't offer them from Spokane.

As a matter of fact, you can't even book a flight on Southwest from Spokane to Seattle. The only way to fly on Southwest from Spokane to Orlando is to book 2 seperate flights: like from Spokane to Boise and then Boise to Orlando.

The best deals I've found to fly to Orlando from Spokane have been with Delta, and they have the best flight schedules too. :)

Anyway, at this point I'm not sure what direction to take regarding DVC:

Should be buy now before Disney raises the price per point? :confused3

Should we only consider a resale? :confused3

Should we wait until Disney announces the next, new DVC property? :confused3

Should we even buy at all considering the horrible airfaires? :confused3

Get my pilots license? LOL :teeth:

Hi Brownie, I'm sure you knew this but I think you can use your points for some of the moderate resorts such as Port Orleans or Coronado and Carribean Beach. You can also use them for some of the deluxe resorts as well such as AK lodge. You do appear to use more points by doing this but it may lend itself well to a DVC member that's making last minute plans. Has anyone else ever done this???

March is Spring Break time for alot of the southern schools. We go in March and find that it is pretty busy and book 11 months out . Same with airfare. I think it starts around 10 or so each year. :goodvibes
