I'm feeling so sad ...

It still doesn't help to call anyone anything regardless of what "side" you're on.

I agree. And to take it a step further, I don't see a point in the assigning "sides" in the first place. Expressing disappointment, sadness, or any other negative emotion doesn't mean someone loves Disney any less than someone who disagrees with their viewpoint. We all love Disney here.

Thanks for the suggestion. We need a suite hotel, not just a room with two beds. What towns should I be looking at?? I think the one I liked was in Alexandria actually, with a Metro across the street. That's the plan - metro into the mall every day.

Appreciate the help!!!

and LarryZ - that's the only time we can go because of school (sounds familiar lol). Do you mean the timing stinks because of the heat? I think the air conditioned museums should be okay, so the only time we'll be outside is to and from the hotel/museum and metro in between.
I will PM you :)

Not if USO keeps express pass exclusive to it's deluxe hotel guests as a perk for staying onsite and continues to limit the number sold in park daily.

I would doubt that with ever increasing attendance and that number expected to continue to increase, Universal will be able to keep its express pass exclusive to its deluxe hotel guests. I think they will need a different, more all encompassing solution. Limiting the number of passes is a failing strategy long term. In my opinion.

You know, I might be disappointed by something every trip but I still love the magic overall. I am nervous about the new system but that isn't going to stop us!

Get those tickets out of the drawer and go enjoy WDW! "Change is inevitable, growth is not."

I was just pointing out the incorrect statement. You may not like their direction, but they did add rides.

Everyone needs to keep one thing in mind - Disney is not doing any of these things for YOU or ME. They do not care about YOU or ME. They are not supposed to care about YOU or ME. They care about their future customers and future business model. They risk losing current customers with every change and they know that - but they are looking forward, not backwards. If You or I continue to vacation at WDW, all the better for them (and us, if we are happy). If not, they really don't care. They have their eyes on a bigger prize. I am totally okay with that. I am not quite narcissistic enough to think that my happiness should be anyone's priority other than mine.

My statement was not incorrect.
They did not add a lot of "bums in seats", 31K a day is not a lot of gain.

As they keep adding hotel rooms, I think they are going to need some sort of a system where all onsite hotel guests get a chance to bypass at least some of the lines without paying for Express Passes a la carte ($$$$). Then there is still offsite to consider. I also think that not having the HP rides on some sort of EP system is a huge negative. It will be interesting to see what they do, if anything.

If I take the OP's first post at face value, I don't think it has anything to do with FP+. She CANCELED two trips because of something she heard about 2nd hand and had never experienced herself. She has tickets sitting in the drawer and is worried about how future ticket pricing might change things. This is not normal behavior, people. In my non-professional opinion, there is something much deeper happening with her and it has nothing to do with Disney World or the changes that have been made. I believe these things are the excuses she is using for whatever reason. OP - If you are still reading this thread, please consider whether you need to get some professional assistance.
LOL People need professional assistance if they don't want to visit Disney? How ridiculous. :rotfl:

I have always loved all the hate people give people for "not trying" something first. That they can only complain if they have tried it. Why ? You are telling me you try everything before saying you don't like it ? You try every food ? You try every sport ? You try every adventure experience ? Do you go out and buy a new car before deciding you don't like it ? I mean, test driving doesn't really give you the full experience after all. Have you ever visited the jungles of the Congo ? No ? Sure there are warlords and you might die, but if you haven't tried it you can't complain right ? Can't say its not a good idea or you don't want to spend your money on it until you have ... spent your money on it and tried it. I mean, think of the rush of dodging bullets and disease and stuff !

Seriously, rational people can look at the description of something and decide they don't like it, or wont like it, and not pursue it any further. You all do it every day in your life, but you bash people here who have done the same because, of course, Disney can do no wrong. No matter how much they jack up the prices, or how much more pre planning they require, or how increased the negative side to not pre planning is, or how long the SB lines get ... \

This reminds me of cruises. I have never been on a cruise and I will never go on a cruise. I know, without going on one, that I will not like it. I prefer my hotels on land. Do I really have to try a cruise before I say this? Some cruise fans may say that I am dismissing the idea without trying it, but I know myself well enough to know I am not going to like it, therefore I am not going to waste my time or money on it.

Cruises suck.

But your analogy doesn't quite hold, because what the Op was saying is she wants to love a cruise, and she's loved cruises in the past, but because she heard someone say that the cruise line she favors has started g stopping at Breakwater Bay instead of Castaway Cay, she's devastated and doesn't want to go. All of which is fine. But then she states the reasons, and people try to suggest her opinion (based on what she's heard) that Breakwater Bay is full of stinging jellyfish all the time is not exactly accurate, and if she loves cruises so much, maybe it's worth giving the new ports a try.

I said early in this she shouldn't go to Disney, but if you're going state your reasons, and state questionable things as fact, then people who feel the other way are going to argue the points. No one is trying to convince her, but a lot of people don't agree that Disney makes them sad for the reasons the OP stated, and lest her viewpoint be the only one stated, they offer opposing points of view.

But I'm with you. Cruises suck.

Of course. But if you then try to convince others that they should not try either, or try to explain your decision to not try by using justifications that may not hold water, then your reasoning as to deciding not to like something can be questioned.

The OPs point wasn't to say she was sad, it was to say these new policies suck, and that's what makes her sad. At first people tried to explain her reasoning -- based only on conjecture, some of it inaccurate -- might be flawed and it might be worth a second look. Because in the end, no one gives one crap whether she goes to Disney ever again. But some do want to combat some of the negative things said. Nothing wrong with that.

It all depends on how you spend your park time.

We won't wait in a line longer than 20 minutes, and never had to until the change to FP+. For us, it is an absolute, indisputable fact that we can't do as many attractions in a day as we did before. If the OP toured like us, she already knows they can't get the same amount done in the same time frame.

And yes, we've been to WDW several times using the FP+ system.

Fellow Disers this thread has had a long run and it's been getting personal I have had 11 reports on it.I'm going to move it or close it soon, most likely move it.Moderator Danny

OP not going to read all the in between pages but I feel for you.
We cancelled our trip last year d/t FP+. So while many likely scolded you in the thread - I understand how you feel. I hope you have a great vacation with whatever you decide to do.

Exactly -- hot and humid, and there never seems to be a cooling breeze. It's why Congress leaves town that month...

sadly as with everything prices go up. I still go because I just love it that much. The one trip I went that I didn't enjoy as much had nothing to do with Disney. It was December of 2012. To save money I stayed offsite. First site I saw was across the street from a jail and the second actually had decent ratings, was very cheap (I found out why). At night I saw a drug deal happen outside where I park, the parking lots were not brightly lit. And I am from Newtown, CT (they had the elementary school shootings here) and I was on my trip when this happened. Add on the fact I have kidney disease and the edema in my lungs made it impossible to walk more than 50 feet without resting and the three factors led to a not as enjoyable trip. I didn't go down at all in 2013. But I made up for it in 2014 by going twice and am going again next month. Friends of mine moved to Oviedo, about 35 minutes north of Disney so I stay with them. They have a pool (screened) so I am set there.

Hmmm, I applaud the OP's decision to not go to Disney any more. Leaves a few FP+'s and ADR's for me! :) Whatever floats your boat. As much as I get annoyed by all the changes, I still love Disney enough to put up with them and go anyway. I'm even starting to get used to FP+. And I'm faithfully getting up every morning this week to book my 180 day ADR's since I'll be staying off property next trip. Works for me!
