I'm Done!!! Too Many Changes We Don't Like

Lol to be fair granny, this stopped being a discussion long ago.. its just a broken record at this point. Keeps repeating and repeating and repeating and repeating *BUMP* *screeeetch*

Especially the posters who keep saying they don't want to read about any of this, lol! I'm becoming one of them. The horse. It's dead.

LOL, they'll just be another one tomorrow or the day after. Why bother?

For everyone saying how mean people are on this thread and all the fighting. People should head over to the Unfair :( thread. Now some of those posts got mean.

Just saying lol.

Okay both the threads are getting out of hand. Quick someone start a new one.. You know about FP+ to keep it interesting :rotfl2: :goodvibes:

And to add to your point, they've been targeting their marketing that way-
We've all seen how incredibly successful they're aggressive overseas marketing plan has been.

And the vast majority of these guests are in the once or twice in a lifetime demographic.

At least FP+ will do away with having to be in line behind a tour guide inserting 150 KTTW's (as long as we have a smart device).

Except for the UK folks, they seem to come to fla pretty regularly for holiday. Of course they come for a couple of weeks and don't just spend it all in Disney.

Not well when all of the Queues are 2 hours long.
Allowing for lunch and dinner that let's you go on 4 attractions in a day.

Admission tickets are to expensive for that!

I realize that there are less crowded times, but my last trip the parks were Packed, most Fast Passes were gone within a half an hour of the park opening and as I result, I managed to get on very few rides.
I can honestly say that I wanted my money back after my day in Hollywood Studios.
I still made the most of it. I still had a good time with my DBF, but I did not get nearly the value of my ticket out of my experiences in that Park.

Silly girl the parks aren't for riding rides they exist for the ambiance ;)

I have a coworker who is thinking about taking his wife and two young sons (8y/o and 11y/o) to Orlando. Knowing I go down there 4-6 times a year, he asked me to help plan their trip. He then told me he had won a four night stay at a timeshare and was going to add a few nights to it. I explained all the onsite perks to him, transportation options, FP- and FP+, how to make ADRs, character meals, etc. We also talked about staying offsite, eating offsite prices vs onsite prices, other things to do in Orlando, etc. In fact we spent all night talking about his options. I didn't want to influence him one way or the other, just wanted to give him facts. He said it sounded like to him that DS and maybe even AK could be half day parks. When we got to talking about maybe it would be better for them to stay onsite, since it was their first trip and how important ADRs and FP+ would be to them, he finally put both hands in the air and said forget it, a WDW vacation was too complicated and time consuming to plan.

Wow. So you ruined WDW for someone who's never even been. Nice. WDW is *not* that complicated. Yes you *can* do all that stuff... but it is in no way required to go and have an incredible awesome magical time. I know! I may be a planner-type... but the other bunch of ppl I travel with are all not. They enjoy walking around, reminiscing, taking pics of the haunted mansion, actually ENJOYING the stuff along the wait in the graveyard to get into it, and if they don't get into a particular must-see restaurant cuz they didn't make an ADR they pick ANOTHER ONE that is open. It's not a big deal. Really. Just cuz it is to you, you should be sorry for indicating WDW *required* the work you *choose* to put into it.

Geez. It's a park. The BEST ONE IN THE WORLD. 99% of people out there can just buy tickets and go have fun.

Well.....my name is Mad Hattered. :confused3;)

I didn't mean to ruffle your feathers. I guess it was this part of your reply that prompted my response:

"As they say, there are lies, d*** lies, and then there are statistics. I can make multiple arguments for these numbers on every side of the argument."

The point being, since Disney won't release that data to the general public there is no possible way know the real answer. So you can't make multiple arguments to support why HS studios had nearly 8 million less gate clicks than MK.

Edit - In 2012 the WDW parks saw an average of 2.23% growth whereas Universal saw 3.25% and that was 2 years after Potter came to town the first time. If that trend continues then it is VERY conceivable that once Diagon Alley opens in 2014 that they could surpass one of the lesser-visited parks. in the near future.(IMO)
There's also the interesting theory that the lesser Disney parks only see as much attendance as they do because of multi-day passes. Of course, no one will ever know the truth about that and probably never should.

Actually I did the exact opposite. I did not want to influence him one way or the other, so simply gave him facts he asked for. I had brought some pictures from some of my trips, so he asked about character meals, tours, and such. I told him I'd recommend only a couple of character meals for their first trip, since they take alot of time away from the parks. I told him there was no way to do it all in one trip and to not even try, as WDW would always be there. Despite him having the free nights in an offsite condo, I recommended that he stay onsite since it was their first trip, so they could use DME and Disney transportation and explained how FP+ could help them avoid some of the long lines at the headliners. I tried to make it as simple as I could for them. He just didn't want to make plans ahead of time as far as ADRs and FP+. He then wanted to know if they went to Universal and Sea World if it would be the same.

Don't you just love how people "get" the magic? I never realized optimism became apologetic... :confused3

This Dis is like high school. The "cool" kids are the ones who bash Disney at every turn. Every issue is blown out of proportion. I picture those people as wearing leather jackets and smoking.;)

The "nerds" are the people that try and stay optimistic, and also those who follow the rules. They get that Disney is first and foremost a business and are selling us a product. One that we can buy or not buy. Those are the people that in my mind have cuffed jeans and nerd glasses.:p

Why do people always feel a need to put people into groups? The way I see it, this is a discussion about Disney, by people with an interest in Disney.

Just back. We had fast pass plus. Yes, there was times we did not use it. But I was always able to adjust to another park if I did not use them. Or change times. More complicated. I was still able to pull fast pass at toy story with. My ap.

Eh it still doesn't hurt anyone. :). I know it sounds trite but people really have no reason to read it if they aren't interested. Don't mean that in a snotty way just that if everyone walks away it will die and if not then people can argue, fuss, consider or discuss. I read it because I've had a migraine for days and it keeps my head just busy enough not to hurt as bad and not to barf. Lol, tmi I'm sure.

How foolish of me.
So I pay to get into the parks to look around, and the rides are just a side item they are nice enough to let me use once in awhile.

It all makes so much more sense!

:rotfl:

I still love Disney. I maintain I still had an over-all great vacation.
I just really felt cheated a few times.

I do have faith they will work out the kinks and it will even out.

It is just that Right Now it feels like unless you are paying the extra to stay in a Disney resort you experience is limited to just a few attractions per day.

So those who aren't thrilled with every move Disney makes are rule breakers who don't understand Disney is a business? I think I'm going to need a map to follow that logic.

IMO critical voices are exactly what the WDW resort needs right now, not fanatics gleefully cheering the run over the cliff. Viewpoints and arguments aren't helped by demonizing opposing voices -- something I hope America as a whole recognizes soon.

Even the "cool" kids who bash are good people on the inside. ;)

Yes, WDW *is* that complicated and is becoming more so, thanks to FP+.

I spend three times as much time planning WDW vacations than I do any other vacations. I don't even plan that much. I can't imagine how many hours are wasted by uber-planners.
