I'm doing it! I'm mystery shopping tomorrow!

even though you cannot make a living it can help out greatly, i have done months where i made almost 1000.00 this is what i use to specifically pay off vacations, buy tickets, everything, i do it part time, it depends on who you shop for i have done bk for one company for 6 bucks and did it for another company that paid 11.50 it really depends on who you work for,

Yes! I've noticed quite a difference in pay between companies. I definately look forward to the extra $$ to help out with the "extras" I like! Also, if you can work it with some of the shops where you may need something and there is a reimbursement, that's quite a plus too!

Today I'll do a fast food that pays $10 plus lunch (2 meals) - we don't usually eat that much fast food, but for free, why not? The kids will be happy. :mickeybar

This week I'll do 3 more shops that are only paying $5 and $6 but after you do a certain number with this company your pay increases. There's also a fine dining one in my area, and if I can find a babysitter you'd bet I'll be there!

Have fun everyone and I hope you enjoy it! I'm off today to buy a calendar for this stuff because last night I awoke horrified thinking my fast food was supposed to be yesterday! Whew, thank goodness it is for today! :cool1:

Thanks! I have signed up for several different associations. So far shopncheck has had the most available in my area and I've worked it for 2 a day from them (but not every day). For some others I have to take an online test for the particular stores. Seems like fun so far!

Any tips for memorizing all the times and details associated with a fast food shop? I'm sure I'll be fine but I do one tomorrow and there are A LOT of details to remember without taking notes!

You will need a stop watch with lap timings. Or you can use a digital recorder. I use a digital recorder on my shops. Memorizing the details comes with doing so many. You kinda of automatically know what you need to do. Just don't forget that RECEIPT!!!

Just remember, certain companies do NOT let you take kids or anyone with you on FF Shops, and other shops. Make sure your follow your guidelines for what to order also. Anything extra will kill the timings, and you won't get paid or reimbursed.

Yes, thanks for all the info. I did go alone and then just let the kids eat what I was told to purchase when I got home.

The digital recorder idea is great! I will definately put that to practice. do you just record the whole coversation or speak into it when you are out of sight of the employees? Today I just did my best to remember the time - for the FF they want it right to the second so it was a bit difficult but I do have good short term memory. Hopefully the company will think I did as good as I think I did - who knows!

It needs to be to the second. If they think it isn't, they can go back to the store video tapes. If they feel you fudged your data, you will be deactivated, and they won't let you shop for them anymore. The schedulers also share info on shoppers, good and bad. You can't do your "best" to remember the times. YOu need to have them to the second. That is what you are being paid for. At the beginning I used a stop watch. Now I take the recorder in with me, hidden of course. I tape the whole thing, and make comments when I can. I did a fine dining dinner the other nite and had lots of timings and details. I need everything to be perfect. If it isn't, I won't get my $130.00 I laid out for dinner!!!

On most shops you are supposed to taste the meal, and be in the dining room for at least 15 minutes. You really have to follow the guidelines to the letter.

Good luck and happy shopping!

I feel I got the times to the second. I did my best to remember and I did. During the drive thru I jotted down a few notes between stops on the times but I had remembered them anyway. Trust me, I'm a stickler for details so we should be fine. I'm waiting for a few of my reports to be graded so I'll have a better idea how I did.

So, your digital recorded records time and seconds? What kind do you have?

I want to hear more about the digital recorder too!

I finally found a company that does things in my area. I have 2 shops this weekend. I'm excited! :)

I filled out an application for mystery shopping first I got a check for$2,989. They wanted me to put it in bank and then send them $2,500 western union and evaluate western unions to see how long the process took. Next day another check they sent with the same thing. I dropped the checks at the tellers at the bank and reported FRAUD then the next day they sent two money orders from the postal office for$998. The western union thing again I took the phoney money orders to the postal office to track these people down. Do not even deposit or you will have to pay. Check the checks with the tellers first and money orders where they came from. Let's Bust these thieves.

I've been doing mystery shopping for over a year already and is an excellent way to get some extra bucks for the trip. I have done up to $300.00 a month doing mystery shopping.

Good Luck!!
Who and how I apply they were fraud what to do to get a true company to mystery shop?

I've been doing it for 12 years now!

I used to take on all kinds of shops, and I've done all kinds of scenarios, some that required quite some acting! But I've slowed down on it lately.

I only do restaurants and movies now...not really making money but having lots of fun. My husband is so spoiled by the freebies that he never wants to pay for anything anymore. If I want to go out he always asks "Is it a job?" and he's so disappointed if its not, lol.

Gotta admit, I'm a little curious why Lynxalot dug up a seven year old thread, even to warn about a scam - instead of using a much more current thread. Mystery shopping comes up here frequently - at least once a month.

Ooops. I read all the posts and never once noticed a date! ha ha if that was a job I'd fail on the attention to detail part, lol.

I did it for years with several companies and it's a fun way to get a free meal but it's certainly not like a part-time job! The little bit of actual cash you get hardly pays for your gas plus if you add up the time to file the reports, it's not even minimum wage. So do it if you just want a little fun, but don't do it if you need part-time income.
