Just wondering what everybody thinks. I would think they are all fabulous in one way or another. My friend is going in June 06 and asked me this question. She wants to stay at the best. After reading these boards for a month now the resorts all seem to have good things. It is just a matter of taste and of course money. Commments?

Thanks
A.

IMHO, I don't think that there's a "worst" resort on disney property. There are all great!!
Basically it comes down to money. You'll be getting more of the "extra's" that come with staying in a higher priced hotel. Larger rooms, better views, nicer beds, more luxurious or opulent decor, bigger pools, etc. But even the value resorts are heads above any average hotel anywhere in the country.

Totally int he eyes of the beholder. I have never been to a horrid Disney Resort, however I ahve been to many I like better than one or another. The only resorts I have not "tried" yet are GF, CR, Poly, YC, BWI, and ASMo. That said it ranges from value to deluxe, but I believe go where your budget and touring style take you and I doubt you (she) will be disappointed.

When we were at Pop several weeks ago, I asked my dd, almost 12, to list her favorite resorts that she had stayed at. BWV was the top, with the Polynesian being the lowest!!! So, as you can see there is something for everyone. While I liked the Polynesian, my dh says he couldn't care less about staying there again! I have no interest in GF but dh really wants to stay there. And dd and I loved Pop. So, we don't have a 'worst' resort, just a least favorite!!

I honestly don't think that there is a "worst" resort in Disney. And what is the best resorts depends on what's best for the family. I may say the best would be Polynesian and WL... but your best resort might be AKL or POFQ...

If you want to know my best favorite resorts... it's Polynesian, WL and POFQ!

The worst resort varies. It would be either a resort, or section of a resort, right before it's scheduled for renovation. It could also be a resort that booked more guests than it's staffed for.

I have stayed at most resorts and I have to agree with above, wiht one exception. I dislike the Poly. and I do not think I will ever change my mind. unless they redo the whole thing...different

It's like asking which Krispy Kreme donut is the worst? Well, for someone who doesn't like nuts it might be simple...I tailor the BEST resort to that person's needs and personality...

Have young kids all under age 9...then monorail is tops

Have kids over age 9...then Stormalong Bay/Epcot resorts might be more appealing.

Not particular about your room and just want to maximize park time..the POP resorts are best

Like strolling along landscaped trails..then POR/POFQ might be a better choice...

it really depends on the person.

They're all GREAT!

Worst is not a word frequently used when describing Disney. However, from what I have heard Carribbean Beach has had some "not so great" feedback. However, that is purely an assumption.

We love: OKW, BWV, BC, WL, AKL!

There are downsides to all the resorts. If you concentrate on those, you can which is the worst for you.

The Pops and All-Stars have smaller rooms and not as much sound proofing as other resorts
Port Orleans is now a very large resort and has to share its buses with a very large population
None of the "big three" deluxe resorts has its own buses
The home away from home resorts all have rooms that are a long way from the front desk and/or the park buses
Coronado has same as above and lots of businessmen for conventions
AKL is overrun with all kinds of animals! ;)

I didn't like the Disney Institute when it was openend a few years ago. It had no theme!!

IMO I think Pop Century is the worst. This is where all the cheerleaders and high school kids stay when they have a school event. Talk about never being able to go to sleep. The rooms are ugly, the scenery is tacky, and the beds are incredibly uncomfortable. and i don't even want to mention the food.. yikes...

I've stayed at the WL and AKL 4 or 5 times each, the BC and GF once each, and my observation is that all of the lower resorts are nice but lack the "Disney touch" that you get at the better properties.

Our one stay at the Coronado Springs resort (trying something different)resulted in us checking out after a day and checking in to the WL, because we weren't willing to give up that much service at the cost difference. If money is not a concern, the premium hotels are worth the cost.

Now a good bit of experience has shown me that buying an Annual Pass for even a single member of your party will allow you to get AP rates for the premium rooms, often making them very cost competitive with the Intermediate Resorts (+/- $20/day).

So for me, the worst properties are ALL of the large scale dorm style hotels. The only thing worse than them is staying off property, which I consider a cardinal sin.

I can't imagine a "worst". I've only stayed at 3 of them, 2 of which were value resorts, and they were all wonderful.

Disney does hotels right. :sunny:

Best and Worst are relative values determined by the individual. "One man's meat is another man's poison." All you have to do is read the boards and you will see the people who will stay only at the Polynesian, for example, or those who swear by the POP. Determine what is important to you (i.e. location, restaurants, pools, amenities, etc.), what theme appeals to you and what your wallet can handle.

My personal "Best", by the way is BWV (I am trying BWI in December and hope that becomes my new personal Best). I don't really have a "Worst", I really just have a "no desire to stay there" feeling about some of the resorts, but imagine I would like them if I did stay there.

I agree that there isn't a "worst" resort, but I think each of us has probably had a "worst" resort experience -- even if it's only in relative terms.

I would say that my worst resort experience was CBR. We were there in August (our first mistake). Found it to be overrun with South American tour groups. We also found that the food court was always dirty -- with 10's of tables in need of bussing and wiping. This always floors :earseek: me since I try to bus my own table as best I can. I'm guessing the poor CBR staff just couldn't keep up with the under-chaperoned masses. :confused3

Regardless, my "worst" experience is still WAY better than many, many of my usual hotel (Best Western, Holiday Inn, etc.) experiences.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I love POR. :cloud9: :cloud9:

First let me say I'm new to the DIS forums so if I make any glaring errors please forgive me. Worst resorts, let me see. For my taste I don't like the "pop" resorts too much. they tend to be a bit loud and crowded for me. I usually get to WDW every other year and since it is a major vacation for my family & me I like to splurge a little. We stayed at Pop music one year and it just seemed that every out of control child was there that week. (of course my children were probably just as out of control, so it was probably a wash. LOL). Has any one every taken a survey of which resorts they think are the best. I'm going back in April 06 and would love to hear other views.

They are all great. Disney offers so many wonderful places to stay.
Deluxes, mods DVC and values. All wonderful choices. I enjoy the All Stars the most.

I am 55 years old and travel several times a year. I often stay at 4 star hotels.
So the deluxe resorts do not have anything special for me.
All Star is like being in the heart of the Magic and that is where I want to be.

I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney.
My last 4 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we take dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we are staying at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?
Wherever you chose to stay have a great time at Disney!

For me the worst was Carribean Beach. We arrived to a dirty room with wallpaper peeling off everywhere. The furniture looked like a 100 years old. The first room was so bad I ended up at the front desk at 11pm trying to change rooms. They changed us the 2nd night but wow it wasn't much better. I know they have renovated since then.

I also stayed at the All Star Movies and while it was small it was actually much cleaner. It was fairly new at the time though.
