I just learned that Fantasmic will not be showing when we go to DLR this May,for a trip we have literally been planning for YEARS!!! Fantasmic is my absolutely FAVE thing at WDW and I haven't seen the DLR version since 1995. DH has never, ever seen it and we were SO looking forward to comparing the two versions. I was quite literally in tears when I realized we would not be able to see it. Someone please, please, please tell me it ain't so! :sad2:

It is so. Rivers of America has been drained and that is where F plays off the Tom Sawyer island. maybe you will be lucky and it will come back early.

Yes :( Unfortunately Rivers of America, which is where they show Fantasmic! is being refurbed until May, and right now Fantasmic! isn't scheduled to be shown again until May 27th :(

Work is supposed to be going on with the Rivers of America until May. So if things get ahead of schedule you might still have a chance.

On the bright side you may be one of the first people to see the brand new show World of Color depending on when you are there in May. :thumbsup2

Real bummer. We have been talking on this forum about the ROA draining and Fantasmic closure for the last 3-4 months. I wish you could have got on this forum earlier! :sad1:

Well, I would have been just as bummed no matter when I found out about it. Our trip dates are locked in, and have been for about 2 years now, due to a conference I'm attending in LA. We'll be there May 17-21. It's not easy for us to get to CA. We've been trying to get to DLR since 2007. Of course I understand about the need for refurbs, and I'll deal, but I'm feeling sorry for myself, I guess! I knew DIS'ers would be sympathetic. at least.

Thanks for all the sympathetic ears who are listening to me moan here.

CrazyDuck is right though, you should be among the first to see World of Color!

Well, I was at DLR on a Saturday in mid-May in 2009 and it was one of the best days I have ever had at DLR. Weather was perfect and crowds were the lowest I have seen in many years. As another poster said, the World of Color show will debut supposedly in late April or early May. It will draw some crazy crowds but the rumors say Disney is trying to surpass Fantasmic with WoC - and they may have succeeded. Be sure to keep on this forum to figure out the details. Supposedly Disney is going with the unprecedented step of giving out FASTPASS type tickets for this show called SHOWPASS.

Thanks, HydroGuy. You are helpful as ever!! The talk of World of Color is definitely doing a bit to cheer me up. Thanks, everyone! Clearly i need to get back to spending more time on the DIS, which I've been very much neglecting since my DD was born. Trip planning makes me happy!:yay:
