I'm considering that add on

I just purchased a resale at OKW. I'm thinking of adding on some points at VWL before it sells out and before the point costs go up.

<font color="9900CC">When you have an add-on at another resort, do you try to match the use year?</font>

I ask this because my use year at OKW is August. I won't be able to take a vacation to WDW until after August. If I get an August use year add-on at VWL I'll want to do it before the price increase and so I could bank half the points but only half the points. I know I could use MB on the other half but at $5 a point for MB it doesn't seem the best deal. Of course I'm assuming here that I would get the 2000 year points. That may not be true if I request an August use year.

We were able to at the time add on 30 OKW & 50 VB points with the same use year as our original purchase. These were not added at the same time. It makes it much easier to set up a combination type reservation at the same 11 month timeframe.

Okay here is my story - when I wanted to do an add-on to BW my agent was gone - so I talked to a another person - she told me my year was gone, but I could do another year. I say no I only wanted a few points. When my agent got back she got me the points in my use year. So you can call your agent explain the problem and see what she/he tells you.

It may not be possible to get the points for August 2000 at this time, talk to your guide. Even if you can, you want be able to use MB because they normally require 6 months left to do so. It's much simpler having your use year the same so you may need to wait until later this year. Definitely talk to your guide, they may be able to get you what you want and the points banked, never hurts to ask.

DVC usually suggests keeping the same use year. There may be exceptions. (ie: If your use year is sold out.)

Tracking several Use Years and resorts can be challenging, but a simple spreadsheet (or pencil and paper) will manage the task. Good Luck!
