I'm confused!

We're planning a 6 or 7 night trip to the Contemporary for August '08.

I spoke to the AAA travel agent. He said the CR doesn't accomodate 5 and is all full, so I have no confidence in him.

I spoke to another non-AAA agent. She can get us basically the same package I can get online, with or w/o the dining plan... I'm still thinking about that. But since she's not AAA, I would miss out on the discount.

Sooooo.... do I:

a) Take the package and keep watching the codes. If a code appears for next August, can I call and apply it, or do I call her and ask her to apply it?

b) Make the room-only reservations myself and get the AAA discount? Are there benefits to the package that I would be missing that way?

c) Call the AAA guy, show him what I've found, and tell him to book it? Is there any benefit to having him book it?

Oh, and by the way, is there any chance that there will be free dining in mid-August?

You guys know what you're doing... can someone help me out?

I was on the phone with a CM yesterday and asked if there were any AAA rates for our dates in May 2008. She said the AAA rates don't normally come out until 2 months ahead of time and to check later. Not sure of the package benefits - they give you a few items but for us packages aren't worth it because 2 of us have annual passes so we buy the others' tickets separately.

I usually just book through the Disney website. I watch for the discounts on the Dis boards, and we have done the free dining the last two years. I can't speak for how much of a discount you can get through AAA, but to me it just seems easier to go directly through the Disney Travel Company. This way, if a discount (like free dining) does come up, you can just call and have them apply it. There seem to be too many horror stories of folks trying to get AAA to apply discounts that they don't seem to be able to access. I had a problem with our upcoming ressie that the Disney Travel Co fixed in a heartbeat.

Congrats on CR!!! It's the best!

Your best bet is to find another AAA agent you don't have to use the one with your Local AAA. You DO save with the AAA package as long as they still have rooms available for when you want to stay that have the AAA rate. [like other specials they only alot so many rooms at that rate] with the package they discount the room portion. you get room tickets and if you want a dining package. also specifiy on the tickets whether you want the extra water parks, park hopper option and whether you want non expiration option. the quote will be for park hopper with the water parks, disneyquest etc. included.
You also get the AAA Diamond parking pass which is a good thing to have.
As for what is available at the resort of choice for your dates your first agent may have been right. they may not have had anything to accomodate your needs for those dates when you called, that could change, or not.
anyway you should save the room discount at least on the AAA package as long as it is available.
