This trip has been booked, cancelled, booked again at Port Orleans, moved dates, changed to a Preferred site at the Fort and now -- finally -- booked in a Premium site. Whew!

Nothing felt right about this trip till I got the Premium site yesterday. Now everything feels like it will all fall into place.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, there's absolutely no other place I want to stay when I'm at Disney than the Fort. You can keep the Deluxe Resorts and all the others. I'm coming home to Fort Wilderness!

pixiedust: Here you go! Sounds like you deserved it. Now start planning the rest of the trip.

, it had better be!

I understand completely! Sometimes the temptation is to great at another Disney resort especially if they lower the room rate or offer free dining! LOL! My husband insist the yr we stayed at POP /w upgrade for the tableservice, dining was not free and I have no idea what he had to pay in tips! LOL!

I changed 2013 reservations from the Fort to Art of Animation Suite for my grandchildren. My grandson & granddaughter loved the cars.

THIS YEAR I have stayed the course, no wondering around the other resorts! Its all been paid for! Its Done! Grandchildren are excited and they will be bringing toys, bikes, etc., My husbands going to bring his steak from home to grill! My son in-law is going to bring his Fishing Pole! LOL!

So that's it! LOL!

Yes, I'll be glad when this is all paid for. This is the first time we're doing a package. I think full payment is due in August? Whenever, it's just nice to know that it will be paid ahead of time with CHANGE PENALTIES lol!

napria, is it my imagination or were you planning to go to Guntersville State Park in Alabama last fall? Did that trip happen? How was it?

I haven't been up there since the tornadoes.

Nope, not your imagination. We never did make it. I can't remember why. In a month we're headed to AnchorDown RV resort in Dandridge TN so my husband can fish and I can read books and watch him fish. Looks like a gorgeous RV resort. Many of the sites have fireplaces and they all seem to have a view of the lake.

Glad it's all working out for you! I get so excited reading these posts, can't wait for my first trip "home." :flower:

Lake Guntersville SP is absolutely gorgeous, one of the prettiest places I've ever stayed. I don't have an RV, but the tent sites and cabins were just amazing. We have family there and also got out on the lake, so much fun. That part of AL is a well-kept secret.

Yes, Anchor Down is a 'very, very' nice campground - sites cost almost as much as FW too!! We stayed there one night coming back from south LA last October - have never seen a more beautiful campground setting. Each site is professionally landscaped, and like you said, lots of them have huge fireplaces! It's terraced and you are looking down at the lake, plus see the Smokies in the distance - just 20min. from Gatlinburg. It's very new. You will enjoy!

I'm on a never ending quest to find a campground that I like almost as much as the Fort. The pictures of AnchorDown look amazing and it's got nearly all 5 star reviews on rvparks.com (my go to site for campground reviews.)

In July we have a family reunion trip to Myrtle Beach. While Myrtle Beach isn't our cup of tea, I think I found another nice campground less than 20 miles away in Longs, SC that we're going to try.
