I'm bringing my diploma straight to the The Mouse! A June PTR-6/18 TR Link!!

That is SO COOL!!!!!!!!! Wish I knew about that program years ago, it sounds so much fun!!:cool1: Yay for your DS and yay for you for possibly going on another trip this year!!!:woohoo: Thanks for sharing!!!!

I wish I had known about it too! By the time I heard about it, it was too late because I was getting ready to be a student teacher and couldn't take time off from school to do it. It just fits so well with her major...and I get to enjoy the benefits too! There are lots of perks I heard, including free passes for family and hotel discounts so it's exciting for all of us! :woohoo:

AHHH!! That is sooo exciting! I think it would be so fun to work at Disney for a while. You'll have to let me know if she is still there when we go in December, and I can stop by where ever she is working and see her! Also, fingers crossed that you can make it out to see her a few times!!

I will definitely let you know, she is supposed to find out her exact dates soon. It's weird though, they don't tell her where she will be working until she gets there in August. I would be too anxious, I hate waiting to find out stuff like that!

I just got some very exciting news!!

Those of you who read the TR from my last trip have heard about my DS. I can't remember if I mentioned this, but she is a hospitality and tourism major in her second year of college and it has been her dream for a couple years now to do the Disney College Program.

Well, I didn't want to mention it, because I didn't want to jinx anything, but she applied last month and had her interview a couple of weeks ago. We've been waiting since then for her letter to come to see if she got in, and she just called to tell me that it came today and she got accepted!!!! :cheer2:

I am so happy for her! Having a family member as a CM is only going to feed my obsession  She has experience working in restaurants, so they hired her as quick service dining, which is not her first choice but she is just too happy to care! She'll be moving down there from Aug.-Dec.

This also means possibly some extra trips to Disney for me. :cloud9: My parents will be moving her in and they have decided to go down and visit for a long weekend in October/November, then spend a week in December when it's time to move her home. I'm definitely thinking of joining them at least for the long weekend in October, depending on when I can get time off and saving for the wedding, etc. We'll see but cross those fingers for me!

I know this is off topic but just wanted to share

Congrats to her!!!! :goodvibes I hope you get to go for a visit or two!

You should go for it and start the PTR now! If you are working on the planning it is the perfect time to do it! It helps pass the time until your trip and everyone gives you tips and feedback and stuff

Also - To: HoneyLSU - I definitely think you should start your PTR. I started mine a few weeks ago, and our trip isn't until December! Having this great group to talk through plans with and countdown with makes the time, well, not go faster, but it is certainly a lot more fun, and eases some of the craze of planning!!

Y'all have talked me into it! I think I just needed a little confirmation that it was, in fact, ok to start it this early! jewels1916 - I'm playing catch up on yours now too!

Lauren, that's so exciting about your sister! I wanted to do that, but my parents shot that idea down. That truly has to be the experience of a lifetime (and you're lucky you benefit from it too)!

Too fun! The perks of working there will be awesome too for your family- don't they get admission, hotel, and purchase discounts?

Tell your sister congrats! I wish I would've known about that program in undergrad; she's going to have such an amazing time!!!

Congrats to your sister, she must be so excited. The college program sounds wonderful. It's also a plus that you might fit in and extra trip this year! I know some CM's and they get some good discounts.

Congrats to your sister! And to you! :rotfl:

Thank you so much! We are all so excited!

Oh how exciting for her! :woohoo: You have to keep us updated on her, okay?!

I definitely will! I wish I knew where exactly she was going to be working, I think I'm more anxious than she is!

Congrats to her!!!! :goodvibes I hope you get to go for a visit or two!

Thanks! I talked to DM about it tonight and it sounds like we are most likely going to visit her and check out MNSSHP in October which I am SO excited about!

Oh it is totally ok to start! I've seen people start one like 2 years before their trip so you are definitely good to go on a PTR, I'm glad we convinced you and I'm looking forward to reading.

I am so lucky! My parents are thrilled, they are Disney nuts too so they are definitely behind her on this one! Thanks for being excited with me :cutie:

Yep there are lots of perks that we are so lucky to take advantage of! They get half off hotel, 40% off on merchandise, and a certain number of free passes for family i think. I haven't heard all the specifics, she has been in class all day so I didn't get to talk to her for long but I'm hoping to find out more about that soon!

Tell your sister congrats! I wish I would've known about that program in undergrad; she's going to have such an amazing time!!!

Thanks, I will! I wish I'd done it myself, although it so has nothing to do with my major.

Congrats to your sister, she must be so excited. The college program sounds wonderful. It's also a plus that you might fit in and extra trip this year! I know some CM's and they get some good discounts.

Thanks! She is so psyched I think she has called everyone she knows and it's all over her facebook account :lmao: And the extra trip and the discounts are definitely a plus! We are thinking of going when they are doing MNSSHP which I am SO excited for, I've always wanted to go to it!

 Well I definitely don't want to be the reason you get banned from MK! Wow I am now seriously intruiged! Do you know how far in advance you can book it? It sounds so great, I'm definitely looking into it.

First, congrats to your DS. This will be a very valuable work experience for her.

Give this number a call (407-WDW-TOUR) and they can answer your question about booking in advance. When I did it in 2005, it was Sept, low season. They were able to put us in the next day. If you are doing this in June, you might want to call in a 2 or 3 days ahead of time. It really is an eye opening experience you don't want to miss. Just don't do to much research on the internet. That will spoil the fun.

Thanks, I'll pass that on to her! I'm so proud of her :goodvibes

Thanks!! And thank you for the info. Wow, I thought it would be like 90 days in advance like every other reservation you make in Disney! I'm thinking of surprising DF with the tour as a birthday gift, so you have been a huge help! And you have my word that I won't research anything so that it is a total surprise when we do it :thumbsup2

Wow, I thought it would be like 90 days in advance like every other reservation you make in Disney!

Actually you can make it 90 days in advance. I made ours on Feb. 13 for May 17. They have three times they do it which are 8:30 am, 9 am and 9:30 am. They also told me they do it 7 days a week, it's about 5 hours long and lunch is included at the Columbia House. I was originally charged $130 for two people but then I realized that since I have a Disney Visa I get a discount which brought it to $104 for two people so it's important to ask if you can get any discounts. We're looking forward to doing this tour and the Magic Behind the Steam Trains Tour. Hope this info helps. Have a great trip!!

Thanks so much for all of the info! That price isn't bad at all for such a long tour. Lunch would be nice to, we can save a couple CS credits for another day :)

AWESOME! That is so great!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thanks!!!

Hi again everyone! Thanks for all the words of congratulations. DS got her dates today...Aug. 24-Jan. 8th, I am so excited for her that she gets to be in Disney that long :goodvibes While we will definitely miss her over the holidays, it will be an amazing experience for her!!

Ok, now back to your regularly scheduled PTR! We covered MK, next stop is:

Epcot! DF's favorite park. There is very little that we don't do here really, so the favorites and must-do's will be a long list!

Future World Musts:
-Soarin'-and we will be waiting for the front row!
-Test Track-see my last TR for photo evidence of our obsession with this ride :lmao:
-Universe of Energy-it was closed in January :sad2: :sad2:
-The Seas with Nemo and Friends-we both dig those clamshells...hee hee no pun intended ;)
-Spaceship Earth-at least twice because we only did it once this year and I was sad about that
-Innoventions-because every year we say we'll check this out and we never do!

World Showcase Musts:
-Maelstrom (I'm Norwegian, so gotta pay respect  )
-Rio Del Tiempo-So DF can visit Donald and find the Gran Fiesta Tour tshirt that he didn't get to pick up last trip!
-France-I love this video for the music and scenery, DF gets a nap and AC lol
-Canada-to see the waterfall, it was off last time :confused3
-Morocco-I wanna check out the new museum!
-American Adventure-because we didn't have time last trip

Stuff we will check out if we have time:
-Journey into the Imagination-cheesy ride but I do think Figment is adorable
-Living with the Land-we like it a lot, but not if there is a long wait
-Mission Space-the older I get, the dizzier it makes me!
-Club Cool-because DF is scared of Beverly after last time (again, see my last TR :rotfl: )
-The movie in Canada-we saw it last time, it was funny but not a must-do
-Turtle Talk with Crush-never done it, but I'm kinda intrigued even though it seems mostly for kids
-The rest of WS, mostly Italy and UK since I'm not huge on them but would like to spend more time there if possible

We are skipping:

Only one thing makes the definite skip list: Honey I Shrunk the Audience! I dunno, we are just not fans compared to the other 3D movies, which I love, and this one just seems dated!

I think that covers everything. As you can see, we like most everything at Epcot! We will probably end up spending most of our time there because we love the attractions, the atmosphere, and we also like eating and drinking our way around World Showcase...but more about that later in my update on how we'll spend our snack credits, which is something we have already planned for the entire trip :rotfl:

That's all for now, but stay tuned for DHS and AK plans! :cutie:

I totally agree row 1 of Soarin' is so great... I will forever wait for it from now on!

As for Crush... have you seen it before? It is pretty cool even for adults IMO.

Big Soarin' fan here. I would also suggest the China 360 degree theatre. It's pretty cool. The presentation has been updated. With some more modern life. I just wish they would incorporate some of the 08' Olympic events too. I guess that would be too quick. :)

I wish I have tried the Turtle Talk thing but missed it. I watched the documentary about that a while ago. It was fascinating.

Ahhhh, Soarin', thanks for taking me to my happy place this morning, Lauren! I love that ride...never done the front row though. The last trip was our first experience with it so I didn't know we could wait for front row!! Noted for our next trip though!!:thumbsup2 You've got a FULL day ahead of you in Epcot!!!:dance3: FUN!!
