So, I've realized that all I can talk about with people are my kids, which gets old fast (for them, not me :teeth: ). In fact, even my CEO made a comment to me that my kids are probably too much part of my work life (have more than 15 pictures of them in my office).

I know a lot about pop culture from books and Tv, but my circle at work doesn't follow that.

So, what do you do for a hobby or for fun? How did you go about developing that talent/like/etc?

Sounds to me like the people at your work are boring, not you. My coworkers and students know my love for all things muppet, disney and pop culture. I don't think it's very nice for your CEO to say your kids are too much of your work life. THey are your life. You should say,"Sorry there was no room at the pottery class so I had kids instead." Or, "I'll take up fly fishing tomorrow." The only thing I can say is that you could listen to what your coworkers talk about and maybe you'll find someone has some interest, say Disney, that you can talk about.

I do triathlons. I didn't start out to do triathlons but two babies in two years and I was tired of my baby weight. I started walking and then running a little. I added the bike and the swimming later. I am old and fat and slow but I am having the time of my life and I lost 25 lbs this summer.

So you have 15 pictures of your kids? Good for you. My boys are the center of the universe and no offense to anyone else, but they are more adorable than any other boys in the world :)

Most of the people at work only know about work. They've been there for 20+ years, so they know little else. I just can't immerse myself in work like that. I do my job, surround myself with pictures of my little ones. I guess it can be disconcerting, but it's the way I like it. What my CEO actually said was, "We get it...you're a good Mom. Enough with the pictures." This from one of the best companies for working Moms - Not! Just goes to prove what type of awards that advertising money can get you.

Regardless of work people, I'd still like to find something that is "mine". Something that I can escape to for awhile (beside the Dis - no offense :teeth: ) And, if I make some friend in the process, all the better.

come on, this is easy, join a club of somthing that interest you

You don't sound boring. My mom has lots of pictures of me up in her office. (dunno how many, I'll count tomorrow) and she sees alot of little kids and they like to talk about them. Like the ones of us a WDW, they think its just amazing. so, your not boring. :)

nothing wrong with talking about your kids. Maybe you should start telling the stories of the Dis. ;)

I'm a scrapbooker and I go to local scrapbook meetings.
check out some local libraries or churches for group meetings.
