I'm Back! What worked, what didnt, what I wished I had

Thank you for your tip about the ben gay gel. I am anxious to try it! My feet hurt a lot so I may try it before our next trip to WDW (which is 184 days but who is counting? HA!). I use baby powder and we go every year in February. Enjoy!

As a 2X woman with some foot issues (size 7WW), I found that SAS sandals were awesome! I did buy Crocs and they were pretty good, although I got a "hot spot" (not quite a blister) from the strap rubbing in back of my heel. The SAS sandals are not cheap ($85), but I bought them a month before we left to allow time to break them in and wore them almost every day. They are also not "cute"...kind of ortho-looking, but, hey...it's all about the comfort! The style I bought have three straps going over the front/top of the foot, each has an adjustable buckle. They are tan/taupe nubuck leather and match everything. We went to WDW in May and I have been wearing these shoes all summer...cool and comfy!

As to the "chub-rub" issue (I love that term!!!), I find that the lightweight stretch-denim style shorts that fit closer on the thighs do not bunch and ride up like looser-leg shorts. I also used the Monistat anti-chafe cream. Those shorts I bought at Wal-Mart for around $12 per pair. Also, if you like to wear loose, flowing skirts or sundresses and don't like the thigh-rubbing, try wearing a cheap pair of bike shorts underneath instead of underwear.

Stay cool, friends!

I wore the same shoes EVERYDAY I was there a week ago and I didn't get one single blister! I wore my Crocs Flip-Flops and they are sooooo comfortable. My Crocs clogs are good but the flip-flops are GREAT. I have a flat foot and they suppot me wonderfully..not one hurtin' foot the whole week! Those and my neck "cook wraps" allowed me to enjoy the incredible Florida heat and sun!

Thanks for the other tips, BTW! You have a "panty-liner" sista here!! :rotfl2:

Thank you so much for posting your tips. They are wonderful!!! I just am not sure what to do with the golf balls!!!
I'm going back to reread your tips and this time take notes!!!

I believe the golf balls are for rolling under the soles of your feet when you get back to the room...to massage the aches away. Anyone?????

Absolutely love the tips...but, what do we do with the golf balls? :confused3

LoL =)

I place it in my palm then rub it in circles on the bottom of my foot. OR.. Put the golf ball on the floor and your foot on top. Move the golf ball around with your foot. They are the perfect size for a deep foot massage!

We are going in Sept. and my mom suffers from foot ailments. We've been shopping for shoes for her for 6 months. She tried Crocs, they didn't work for her. We finally tried the Land & Sea Athletic Shoe from Landsend.com. They are stretchable mesh on top and athletic shoe on the bottom. They are perfect for her. She tried them at the mall all day and her feet felt great. I purchased the athletic flip flop and I love them. My dad also bought the Land & Sea shoe after seeing moms. Hope this helps.
Oh, my, the pantyliner comment made me :rotfl2: :rotfl:

My Dh thinks that I am crazy thinking of all these little details! Let's see who is crazy when he asks to borrow my golf ball after a long day walking in the parks! I need to find a few more pairs of shoes for myself. I don't worry about DD and DS, they will have the stroller. Thanks for all the tips!

I don't understand why so many people call the water "nasty". At the counters, the water comes out of the same machine as the coke, so it's the same water. Does the coke taste "nasty", too? :confused3

I was never bothered by the taste of the water either.

I'm sure if I threw a bunch of sugar, carbinated water, fructose, and honey in my bottled water I would forget about the bad taste.

Water from the soft-drink dispensers is all filtered, but the water-fountains do not all have filters, so the taste can be very different.

Abie -

Thanks so much for the tips! I went out today and got a pack of practice golf balls (very sturdy plastic w/holes - like tiny whiffle balls!) and a tube of Ben Gay gel.

I have such bad plantar fasciitis in both my feet (even had surgery on one of them - didn't help!) and with it being so hot here near Chicago lately, I've been having fans blow on me a LOT. The fans have given me a stiff neck - in my feet!

I got back to the office with the golf balls and immediately plucked 2 out and was rolling them around the floor under my desk - it worked! It got the kinks out of my feet! Then I used the Ben Gay for good measure. My feet feel great right now - and it's been 5 hours!

I left a couple at work, there will be a couple next to my bed, the couch, and in my purse at all times! So, if anyone sees a woman at Disney kick off her Crocs and start rubbing a golf ball on the ground - come over and say hi!

Thanks for the tips and and the giggles and the out and out belly laughs. I have a pair of Airwalks ( payless brand crocs ) and 1 of them squeeks when i walk. Should i or shouldn't i wear these to WDW this september? Also, ironically they make my feet black on the bottom? Is this just cheap speaking? I was only planning on wearing them to AK so my sneaks don't get wet on Kali RIver Rapids.

Also for you skirt wearing girls with the chub rub try those slip pants. i use'm in the summer when it is too hot to wear pantyhose. Works great and get two jobs taken care of at once. Alot of them have adjustable lengths.

:rotfl2: still

We used bodyglide to reduce chafing-it helped a lot-and I also used unscented antiperspirant on my thighs, which helped my shorts stay put and prevented chafing. I'm a New Balance gal, too! Soooo comfy!

I didn't think the water was too bad. A few fountains in the Magic Kingdom were a bit icky, but the ones in the other 3 parks were fine. We drank at every water fountain we passed, so 3 icky ones don't seem too bad!

That is what we do. We stick all kinds of powdered stuff in to kill the taste. I only buy the sugar free stuff but, it helps. We leave tomorrow so, I just asked DH for a golf ball. He thinks I am crazy!!! I have to go to Walmart today for other things before we leave so, I will get some Ben Gay Vanishing Scent Gel. I may get some gel inserts, too. Anyone tried them with kids? My DD's have big feet....womens 6 and womens 9. :rotfl: Enjoyed lol on this post, thanks everyone. Oh, I do use the deo for my legs inside to avoid chaffing. It has worked. I learned it here from a fellow posted who told me what kind even worked best. She was right!!!!
Thanks.
