I'm an unhappy Wal-Mart customer

I took my car into the Wal-Mart auto service center today and it was not a pleasant experience. I came in at 7:30 am to get all 4 tires on my car changed. The Wal-Mart employee said it would take an hour, but it took about two hours. The car sat in the bay for over an hour without anyone working on it. The new tires were on the car and the lugnuts were in, but no hubcaps were on the wheels. It sat like that for an hour! I saw car after car go up and down for oil changes, even cars that arrived after me! Hey, I was here first! Fix my car first!

I tried to ask the Wal-Mart employee what was happening with my car. She said to me, "How can I help you sir?" I started to talk and she turned her head to talk to someone else. How rude! I was not very happy! My car was finally done after two hours of waiting and the Wal-Mart employee did not even give a "Thank you" or "Have a nice day" after checking me out.

I usually take my car into Midas for repairs. They cost a little more, but they treat me like a VIP. They know my name and my car. The employees keep me updated about the repair. They don't try to rip me off. Everyone is nice to me there. I've taken my car into Wal-Mart for some oil changes and it was a horrendous experience. I haven't done oil changes there in years. I see Wal-Mart auto service has no changed any.

I learned my lesson -- Wal-Mart bad, Midas good! I will be loyal to Midas from now on. I don't think I'll be shopping at Wal-Mart in the future.

Customer service is very lacking all over. I took my car to the dealer for the rubber around the sliding doors on my minivan to be replaced. The door won't close sometimes :(
I left it at 8:45am, at 3:00 pm I call to see the progress and they didn't even look at it yet. But the mgr. did try to bs me about this and that and parts had to be ordered, bottom line...it has to stay overnight. He told me they wouldn't even order the rubber unless they physically had the vehicle, so we were talking another 24 hours. I said forget it I'll pick it up later. He called me back an hour later and said I pushed the rubber up so it will work until you can bring it back to have them replaced. He is going to order them so that when I bring it back, the rubber will be there already. UGH!

you need to call 1-800-walmart and tell them about the bad service. You should not have put up with that. They should have told you something.

That is so darn irritating!...I would call to and complain or I would have called the store manager and talked with him/her.

I've noticed a lack of customer service ALL over our town here...

This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine.

here and he would boot the person out on his or her butt.....no one needs to have a rude employee anywhere........so I would definitely report it

I went to Walmart the other night to buy a couple of DVDs I'd been wanting. Now we don't live in a big city, it is a town of about 25K population. The DVDs were behind a locked plexiglass door...there was an employee in electronics...he did NOT have a key to the case and had to page someone to open it. After 5 minutes he paged again, then again. After 15 minutes somebody shows up with a key. If there had been ANY OTHER STORE in town that carries DVD, I would have left - but our Blockbuster and Hastings have very limited selections for sale, and almost everything has to be ordered. I think I'll just start planning ahead and order from Amazon. As far as car service, I knew someone that went to WalMart for an oil change - they put the WRONG filter on the car - so the oil ran out before he got very far, they re-did the oil change and filter - but it took 3 hours for them to get the right filter from another store!

Pumba is right, a store is only as good as their manager - the problem is in many WalMart towns they are the only game in town.

I guess it depends on the Walmart. Last year I had to go to the Wal-mart in St Augustine. As we entered, my friend and I were discussing what tires I wanted to replace, just the one that blew or both front tires in sign language. The clerk greeted us in sign and the entire transaction went very smoothly. We both felt very comfortable. Although I am oral, my friend is not and having the clerk recognize that we preferred to use sign was wonderful.

We have a brand new walmart in a nearby suburb--the first in the Toledo area. It just opened at the end of March. One of my students got her oil changed on her 2000 car and it died by the side of the road a week later--they put the wrong oil filter on and the oil drained out of it! They need a whole new engine and are suing Walmart.

It's definitely not just Wal-Mart. :( I've had the worst luck with dealers, they take forever to do anything and they never seem to have the right parts in stock. I like Jiffy Lube for oil changes because you drive the car in and the mechanics do the work right then.

I walked out of our Wal Mart today. I found my 9 items and got up front. No express lanes open at all! Only 3 lanes were open and all of them had lines with carts FULL of groceries. I went over to that little stand that has a supervisor and said "Would you put this stuff back for me? There seems to be no way for me to pay for it". Then I walked out and drove to a Target.
