I'm finally to the point where we are about ready to go and yet I'm afraid I'm losing it.

I found these boards back in April I believe, and I have been on here faithfully taking in the ins and outs, and dos and donts. I have saved a bunch of money thanks to all of you. ::yes:: and found things to do I probably wouldnt have never known about (Illuminations Cruise booked on 1st try) However, now that it is time to go, I am afraid I will forget everything I learned.

The part I'm really concerned about is the transportation and knowing which is the quickest way to get somewhere or where the shortcuts are. We aren't going commando by any means, but I'm all for more time enjoying the parks and less travel time.

Tell me it will come back to me...we've never been so I want to make it SPECIAL!

Can you go back to the threads where your helpfull advice was, and print the pages, or copy down some info ?

Hang in there!! We leave in 9 hours and I didn't sleep hardly at all last night. I'm so afraid I'm going to forget to pack something, I think I packed everything but the kitchen sink. You will remember what you learned. Just keep you plan in mind but don't be afraid to alter it on the spot when you see something you like. I suggest that you go over each park map before you go to that park and refresh you memory on what it is you want to do and you will be fine.

Have fun. We are staying at the ASMo resort and we can not wait to arrive!!!

It will be VERY special!!! Just remember that it doesn't matter how much you get in or what you do as long as you are having a good time and everyone is happy. You can't do it all, and more important than how to get places is that you know when to take that break and have fun "playing", relaxing and refreshing. Things will NEVER go as planned, you did all you can do to make it special, now just have a great time and roll with the punches.

In the past when I've taken new people I've gotten so nervous that I actually got cranky, bossy, and down right miserable to live with just telling people where to go, what to do, and how to do it. Now I make a plan, do allot of homework, but let the vacation fall as it will within my plan. If I miss stuff I planned, OH WELL, as long as everyone is having a good time what does it matter??? I have a much better time too!!!

What ever it is it will be perfect. Try not to worry. You will have a great time...:p

Listen to me very carefully. If you can, find a paper bag and breath into it. O.K. do you feel better. Now find a nice cool rag and put it on your head. O.K. do you feel better. Here, let me help you to a nice comfy chair and a cool glass of water. O.K. do you feel better. There you go. Feeling Better.

Now in all seriousness. Relax and remember it's a vacation and just enjoy the magic around you. I get overwehlmed also and I have to keep reminding myself the same thing.

Relax and enjoy, you are going to the happiest place in the world.

Have a great trip.

Your post reminds me of planning our first WDW trip. It is so important not to think you can to fit all of it into your trip because really...and I mean REALLY, it cannot be done. If that is your goal (unless you are going for a month or two)...you will be terribly disappointed.

Instead of stressing over how long it will take to get from A to B...try to enjoy the ride and take in the sights around you. These boards, planning guides, tips and tricks are great...BUT the entire point is to enjoy the experience. A family WDW trip shouldn't be a marathon, it should be fun.

Our ONLY rule is: If one family member is becoming miserable, it is time to take a break and relax. That may mean sitting down and enjoying an ice cream snack, splitting up the group to enjoy separate interests or it may mean going back to the room and taking a nap/swim in the pool. Definitely have a basic game plan of where you want to go and what you really want to see, but be prepared and expect to alter it as needed.

The most special WDW trip is one where everyone is smiling and having a great time. That doesn't require an itinerary, a game plan or a map. It requires realizing your limits and being happy with what you do get to experience, not disappointed with what you don't.

I hope you have a GREAT trip!

Poohandwendy....

Thanks so much for this statement. I will take it to heart!!! I (like the OP) have been stressing out big time about this trip. I am so concerned about making it perfect that I am forgetting to make it fun. Recently my son (15) twisted his foot and caused a hairline fracture. The Dr says it may need a walking cast but he should be able to do anything he could before. My first thoughts were there goes the trip. We wont be able to have fun because it wont be perfect. Your statement gives me alot of hope. We will go and make the best of the things we can experience!

Thank you,

John
