I'm a very very mad DVC'er

Just a great big thanks to all of you for your support.

You're right, it's not the discount, we have already purchased our tickets for this year, it's the principle.

I just thought it would have been as easy for Disney to accept my husband's military ID card as proof the same way as they would to any US serviceman/woman at the ticket gate !!!

I'm just glad that Stevie came home safe and sound, as likewise did most of our brave coalition troops.

We are most certainly looking forward to our vacation now more than ever.

Rosemary, I noticed your post that you may be changing the dates for your trip. Let me know your new dates and hopefully we can still manage to meet up for a "cold one" and a bite to eat. Our vacations usually get cancelled/re-organised due to Stevie's military commitments, I dread to think of the nightmare it will be when Rachel's social life interrupts my holiday plans !!! :)

On a sad note, we have cancelled our 3 day bahamas cruise on DCL this year, we were so looking forward to it - but on a very happy note, we cancelled it to take Stevie's sister and my 2 nephews to a 2 bedroom villa at BWV and WVL for a 2 week vacation instead. It will be soooo fantastic to be able to share the magic of Disney and DVC with members of our family. It is so much more expensive for us in the UK to visit Disney because of the price of trans-atlantic flights and being able to offer an invitation to my sister-in-law of the beautiful accommodation at DVC "on us" was well worth cancelling all that luxury on DCL and borrowing A LOT of points for :D

Thanks again to all our DVC friends for their support.

Best wishes to you all and Stevie says thanks for support in his absence at sunnier and sandier climates.

My guess is that Disney doesn't want the hassle of trying to ascertain exactly who is a British or Aussie soldier. It would take a little work on their part, but I think it would be well worth it. And, I said so as much in an e-mail to them. Thanks for the link Stephen.

I don't think it would take any work at all, they just need to see a military id. I woule like to think that this is an issue that Disney inadvertently overlooked and will be more than happy to correct when they realize the error of their ways....I would like to think that.

I disagree Dawn. My ID card (Dep) doesn't look like my husbands (active duty), which doesn't look like my father-in-law's (retired). Cast members are used to looking at our ID cards and can easily recognize them.

I believe the coalition forces who fought over there with troops were the Aussies, the Poles, and the Brits. Disney would have to get hold of copies of all the ID cards (Dep & active duty) that those services use, and distribute them to all of their ticket booths. I believe they are allowing dependent spouses to purchase the tickets as well.

As I previously stated, it would take some effort, but I think they should do it.

Wasn't this posted on another board?

Anyway, if you want Disney to possibly reconsider, please write to them and tell them how you feel. Only THEY have the power to change things.

I do agree, though that it would be nice to include the Coalition Forces, as well as those who served as reservists who may not be active when they have the opportunity to visit WDW or DL.

Thanks for being there when we need you, and please never forget how much we, as a country appreciate that help!

The Sea World site gives a description of what they require as proof. The military person has to bring something from their base, not just an ID card.
