Okay. I thought I had gone low enough now I'm a THIEF!!

It's been a long day. Tired and little out of it.

I went to wal-mart to get some drinks, toliet paper, soap powder, dish liquid, etc. When I picked up my items, I went through the self check-out. Ran everything through, had to wait a few to get it approved (due to weight issues).. etc.

Then before paying.. I walked out!! No one stopped me!!

Now, Now not on purpose. I was so tired and after waiting, the lady approved it and I pushed the cart away. I walked away without even thinking. I walked slowly out, nodded to the greeter. totally in my own little zone, lost in thought. Then drove home, brought groceries in. While emptying my pockets, I noticed I still had the $20 in my pocket!! :earseek:
I then realized I had forgotten to pay. Yell to dh (he looked at me with his mouth open) and race back to Wal-mart. The last mile a police car was behind me making me a nervous wreck.
I run up to self register cashier. and say "I think I forgot to pay" She says "Yep. I wonder where you went." She found the receipt, rang it up and then went to her supervisor to show I paid for it and told me to keep my receipt to prove I paid it.

I knew I was beyond help but never knew I was a thief and all for $17 worth of stuff!!

OMG!! That is hilarious!

I have become a thief since I had kids - it seems they always seem to throw an extra goodie in our stroller while at the mall - I don't think I have ever gotten home with one to date and they just laugh when I return them - good thing my kids are such cutie pies!!!

Once, when standing in line at the grocery store, DD grabbed cash out of the tellers drawer in the next line. She was only about 2 1/2 and got two $5 bills! The teller wouldn't even have realized it, if I didn't say anything. We've called DD Oliver Twist ever since then.

I can understand how it happens. I remember being so rushed and tired that I went through McDonalds, paid for DS meal and drove off without it. I can work the other way.;)

Martha is waiting for you.....

Hey we all have our moments, you corrected your mistake. So really you're honest.

ive done that kind of stuff before. its usually early in the morning for me. i was never a morning person.

Two weeks ago I was at the grocery store and went all the way out to my car, opened the trunk, looked down and realized there were no groceries. I had to wheel the cart back into the store and when I got back in, there was MY cart sitting against the wall. I had grabbed the empty cart of the woman behind me in line and walked right past my own cart without seeing it. She asked really snottily if she could have her cart back. I was absolutely mortified. :o

yep was one of those. "What the .. was I thinking!!??!"

We have a drive up service for groceries in the store I shop/work at. It was cold and snowy so I asked for a driveup. this was after working all day on Christmas Eve. I had picked up 2 itrems for my SIL along with my groceries. Paid for everything, got my Driveup sticker, got my coat and went out to my car. We have to park way across the parking lot..so it took a bit. Got in the car, drove to SIL's house and went to grab her bag and realized the groceries were still at the store! Got back in my car, drove back to the store, there are my groceries waiting outside with the poor kid standing there waiting for me (about 20 minutes by now)When I pulled up a few of the lot guys came over to find out what took me so long to get them. They all got a very good laugh out of this for a few weeks...especially since I trained them all!

My DBF and I went to walmart awhile ago to buy stuff for his business. Got to the Register and the cashier's computer locked up after we scanned the Credit Card. We waited and waited, we NEEDED a receipt for the business books.

Walmart took our name and number and said that they would mail us the receipt. Went back 2 days later and the same cashier said that our stuff never rung up, the computer froze up while in process and never took.

I asked her what she wanted to do because I couldn't even remember what it was exactly that we bought. She said don't worry about it.

So I didn't and now when I go there, she always says hi, lol. I made a friend!

I went shoping at Bealls one evening with my mother. We bought a pair of shoes, and I held onto a hat I was going to get. It was a baseball cap, and I was holding it from the strap in the back, like a purse. She I'm often carrying a purse, I didn't even *think* about it when I walked out with it still in hand. Luckily we hadn't reached our car before we realized I didn't pay for it, so we went back in.

Thanks all. I'm not the only space case ;)

I walked out with a few small items in the cart without realizing I hadn't paid. DD was an infant and in one of those car seat/carriers so I'd attached it to the shopping cart seat. Before DD, when I shopped I usually put most of the smaller items in the seat so I continued to do that with DD - at first. A few times when I paid I forgot to check under her carrier and ended up noticing them only when I picked her carrier up to put in the car. Since I was still at the store, I put her carrier back on the cart and went inside. Most times I just left the unpaid item somewhere in the store close to the registers. These were often things I didn't really need anyway so I figured it was a sign to not buy them. ;)

I once was going to my neiborhood store called New England Pharmacy. Well me and my friend were going to use a copy machine there to copy some of his pages from a book he got at a library for a report. Well, it didn't really seem to work for us sadly. So we payed for the ruined copies and went to buy some stuff like snacks. I was looking at the snacks picing out what I wanted, holding a bag in my hand with a book to copy in it, and started to put the snacks I wanted in the bag!:earseek: I did this for a short while and then realized that I was stealing! So I quicly took everything out before the clerk noticed, they were standing at their register which points at the aisle I was in. I was like OMG! What am I doing! But they didn't notice luckily.

Shortly before my mother died I'd taken her to the mall in a wheelchair just for her to get out of the house. We had gone through one store and were out in the mall when I noticed she had some merchandise in her hand that we had not paid for.

I raced back to the store and put it back. Two minutes later we ran into her minister and his wife. I kept thinking that we could have run into them with store personnel out chasing us down for stealing stuff.
