I killed a duck yesterday. I came back from the golf club, it was after midnight (so it was dark) and raining (no great visibility). At one point, I wasn't driving very fast but a duck decided to cross the road just in front of my car. I couldn't avoid the duck because there was a car on the other lane, and I tried to stop, but I only had about two yards or so. Result: no possibility to avoid the duck, and I killed her.

I feel so bad, I couldn't sleep all night. I will never be able anymore to eat Foie Gras from duck. Or look Donald in the eyes :(

:( :( :( :(

It's only a murder if your intentionally set out to kill the duck. In this case it's duckslaughter.

Aww, don't beat yourself up over it. Sometimes there really is no way to avoid an animal. It's sad but it certainly sounds like you did everything you could to steer clear of it.

:grouphug: :grouphug: to you.

Oh! I so know how you feel. I hit a raccoon this winter. Not only did I feel horrible, but I broke pieces on my car, then I was mad.

Hang in there.

I hate when something like that happens, unless its ugly

Thank you all

Oh, if only the duck had been wearing something fluorescent, maybe then I would have seen it a little earlier.

And why wasn't it sleeping?? Aren't ducks supposed to sleep after midnight? :(

:grouphug:
I felt the same way after I accidentallly ran over a squirrel :guilty:

Last year I almost killed myself to avoid a rabbit. It seems they are attracted by the lights of the car or so

ARGH!!!!!

(((hugs))) to all of you who have been in the same situation.

(yeah, in DIScreet mode you don't see the smilies, and I still don't know them all by heart; so no cut smilie here)

I'm sorry about the duck. That's sad and I would feel badly too. Just tell yourself there is nothing you could have done about it. Sometimes things like that just happen.

I still have nightmares about hitting a squirrel a few years ago. :sad2:

What I just tought about: I hope the duck didn't have little duckies, who are now orphans

why didn't I just drive into the car next to me instead of into the duck :(
