After reading all of the negative posts regarding DVC resort wear and upkeep, I can honestly say that I've always been very pleased with each DVC resort. Since joining in 2007, I've stayed at OKW, SSR, BCV, BWV, and VWL. I'm not doubting that other people's claims are legitimate, I have evidently just been lucky to have never experienced any problems.:thumbsup2

I agree. Since we first became members in 2006, we've stayed at OKW, SSR, BCV, HHI and VBR. We too have never had any of these problems that people post about resort wear and upkeep.

Same here, I've never had a problem yet (knock on wood...).

Hope everyone's luck continues!! We have been members since 2005 and have stayed at SSR,

Opps wasn"t finished! LOL! We have stayed at SSR, AKL, BWV,VWL,VBR,HHI and could have said the same thing until our May trip!

We've only been members for 2 years with trips to AKV, SSR and BWV and so far so good. My DH and I have been visiting Disney for 30 years, staying onsite for 20 years and we (and our 3 teenage daughters) have each been delighted with all three of the resorts and villas that we have tried so far. We have 1 night in August booked at BLT in a 1 bedroom MK view villa after our first DCL cruise and I am sure that it will exceed expectations also. Hopefully it won't exceed to the point that I will be unable to resist adding on! :wizard:

Reading all of these success stories makes me even more excited about my upcoming trip this Sunday. We will be returning to OKW for the 2nd time since joining DVC. Our 1st visit at OKW was a one bedroom unit and we were amazed with the size of the shower, hot tub, laundry room, outdoor balcony, living room, and kitchen. I'm sure the two-bedroom unit will be plenty of space even though there will be 8 of us traveling together. ;)

I don't think that you are lucky. I think that problems are the exception rather than the norm. Thus those who have experienced problems are the unlucky ones.

I feel the norm for the DVC experience is a very positive one. The negatives are more the exception and taken care of immediately when brought to the attention of the resort management.

I am knocking on wood while crossing my fingers on the statement above (just in case!)....:lmao:

We have been members for three years and have not had any problems that stand out enough to recall.

Below are some of the highlights that have delighted us

  • We had no problem getting a whole week at BCV at the 7 month mark
  • We had a wait list for VWL come through after 4 weeks only for the first week of December
  • We had a trip where were reserved both a 2BR and Studio at VWL; The request was to be by the elevator (DM has a hard time walking) and the rooms be close to each other. The rooms were only one room apart! :)
  • We requested to be by the Springs at SSR and they were able to accomidate us

If we wanted to dwell...

  • Yes, we did have to pay cash for two nights on one trip because we booked 3 months out
  • Yes, we tried to book a last minute trip (2 months out) and there was nothing available
  • Yes, I am sure there have been times where the bus system was slow or something else was closed at a resort

We just always try to look at the positive and things that make us happy...and going to WDW and not staying in a typical hotel room does that for us so all is good!:flower3:

I would agree with that assessment. In our 12+ years of ownership, we have only had a couple of problem visits. I do think though, that the housekeeping is taking a downturn over what we had 12 years ago.

Me neither. Internet message boards - especially this one - tend to disproportionately show thee negative sides of things.

I've only got four more days until we arrive at OKW! Can't wait to be at this wonderful resort again.

I joined a long time before 2007 and never had any problems until about two years ago. That is when things seemed to start going downhill as far as housekeeping. We have not had any issues with furniture, and I really like the hard beds at OKW. I like my bed firm. My issues have been with lousy housekeeping.

That has been our situation. The housekeeping issues were addressed when I mentioned them. That's why I think it's important that anyone who does have issues make a complaint and ask for it to be rectified. Only then will DVC deal with the problem.

However, I'm used to checking into a hotel and getting a clean room the first time. I don't expected rusted utensils, open boxes of food in the cupboard, or burnt cheese hanging from the oven rack. I've had cleaner rooms at the Econo Lodge, and it saddens me to see our beloved OKW being neglected this way. We'll be back at OKW next month and I'm hoping for a spotless room the first time. :goodvibes
