I'm a little embarrassed to ask this....

When we were at the parks, we were surprised to find that if you ask for ice water, they give you good size cups. Why don't you just buy an insulated sports bottle with a strap to carry around and at the parks you can fill it up with the ice water and at the hotel you can fill it up in the food court with ice and water. IT seems much easier than lugging around a case of water.

I am also contemplating the water issue. Im not sure if I want the hassle of a full case of water in the luggage. But we do drink alot and it will save money. Here's what I'm thinkin of doin.....Instead of a full case (24) just bring a 12 pack of water. Then like others have said fill them with the ice water at the parks; but buy up a bunch of the water bottle packs of tea, and koolaide before you go. You gan get them practically anywhere. That way you gid rid of nasty tastin water.lol

I thought the case of water would be great to-

UNTIL I was refused curbside check in because my bag was to heavy. THen had to go wait in another line to check in at SOuthwest ticket counter. THen being told my bag was over weight limit and I would be charged 50+ dollars OR I could buy a large duffle bag from them for $30.00 to put some stuff it. Well I ended up buying the duffle bag and unpacking my stuff in front of about 50 people wondering why this crazy lady was packing water bottles in with her clothes :)

Now I have this wonderful black duffle bag to always remind me of my money saving idea.

Lovely black bag = about 10 bottles of water in the parks!

it pays to research, I bet a lot of people are thankful for this thread! :cool1:

I drink alot also. I i have the ability to ship ups right from my place of employment. I was wondering do u call disney to get the address of the hotel and let them know your sending something down? I'm just a little confused on how this works. Do they charge u at the hotel for a handlin fee? Sorry for some many queston, i'm just trying to figure what will work best. :cool1:

We thought about bringing water too. I can't stand the taste of the water there and do drink a lot of water during the day. As hot as it is in July I will need my water. It won't weight too much if you put it in a bag by itself. I also thought about splitting it up and putting a few bottles in each bag I take - including my carry-on's. That way the weight is not all in one place. I figure we will be taking at least 4 - 5 bags so that is around 10 bottles that wouldn't cause any problems. I will be on the dining plan and get a snack(water) everyday with it too. I wouldn't ship it down there because what if it gets lost or something and then you have paid for the water and the extra shipping and still have to buy water there. Also, it is free to take on the plane with you (if you don't go over the weight 40lbs for carry on and 50lbs for check in bags).
If you do buy water there in the shops or at the grocery store on property near the golf course how much is it per bottle? Same as in the parks? I haven't seen the flavors to add to bottled water except that stuff with the fake sugar and I think it taste bad too. Any other suggestions would be a big help to help us water lovers figure out what to do (other than spending $$ in the parks).

Just did this at the beginning of June!
Packed 4 suitcases...1 for each of us and divided the case up within the 4 suitcases wrapped in Target/Walmart bags in case of leakage. It worked great and only 1 leaked of the 24 and not even that bad. We downed those and then tons from the parks...
Our suitcases were lighter going than coming home...imagine that!
But....DRINK all you can..it is HOT! HOT! HOT! and we are from Texas and are used to it...but the humidity will kill you... :sad2:

I think that is what I think I will do! :cool1: Whoohoo Another comand dicision has been made... on to filling out luggage tags.... :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :moped: :wave2: :bounce: :mickeybar

I also had a hard time finding the Brita Bottles. But I found a bunch in a SHopper in Norwich, Ontario. Maybe you can go to one in MOntreal and ask them to contact the Shoppers in Norwich (just south of Woodstock, On). They are about $12 Cdn. I bought one last summer for our WDW trip to All Star Movies and I bought one this year for our WDW trip to POP in July! (I couldn't find where I put last's year ) .

Other wise I'd buy the mini water bottles - we bought them for a trip to Mexico a few years back. We bought the 12 pack at Walmart. They are small - like little juice bottles! But easier to pack!
Good luck! :earsgirl:

The 12-packs of little bottles were on offer at Goodings when I was there - Crossroads is really close

For the amount of aggravation you will have lugging the water around the airport, just take a cab to the new Walmart Supercenter on SR 535. Located on the corner of 535 and Polynesian Isles Blvd, the cab fare will be cheap!
You can make a grocery trip and get all the water, soda and snacks you want!
The great thing about this is when you come out of Wal Mart, there are cabs that wait in the parking lot for running people back to their resorts!!

We put a case of water in our "souvenir" duffle bag and had no problems when we flew SW in January. When we checked in, she did ask why the bag was so heavy. We told her it was a case of water and she tagged the bagged and sent it through. We didn't have to pay any penalty or anything. The case was the perfect amount for the two of us for a week. We just stuck the duffle bag on the top of the rolling suicase and had no trouble getting through the airport from baggage claim to the buses.

I LOVE WATER. So I took 24 bottles of Dasani with me in checked luggage. 24 bottles on sale cost me $4.99, but at WDW they're $2 a pop or so! I drink like a fish :fish: , there was no grocery stop, so this was the way to go for me.

They were at room-temperature and did not break/leak in luggage but Inever overstuff my bags to begin with. My only hint is to pack your water (if bottles) along the back and bottom of your suitcase so it doesn't get top heavy and tip over when you rollit along or stand it up.

Most people don't because:
1) It'll break in the luggage. So don't overpack the suitcase it is in or bring it in carryon.
2) They're getting a grocery stop/WeGoShop delivery/UPS delivery anyway. But does not happen with everyone.
3) It's another heavy thing to bring. It is unlikely to send you over the weight limit if you are packing lightly (overall). If you are already a heavy packer, then--yes this is probably not a good idea.
4) It will bust under the lack of cabin pressure. I don't believe this to be true. Most "pressure" breaks (crushed Coke cans, burst open conditioner bottles, etc.) are from poor packing, the pressure of all the other items stuffed into the same case.

My thoughts? Since you've been thinking it over, give it a try. Either way let us know how it all turns out!

Thank you all for your comments.

Since it will be the 4 of us, I decided to split the water in all of the suitcases and the carryons. about 4/suitcase. I will put them in ziploks that way if there are leaks........

My DH hates this idea, he says that while on vacation, we should go all the way. But you see, I wanna GO BACK to WDW so if I can save, maybe I can convince him that we need to plan another trip as sonn as we get back !!!!

Well I told him what I was gonna do, and he still disagrees. I better not see him drinking any of that water!!!!

So I took 24 bottles of Dasani

I hope this doesn't upset anyone, but Coca Cola had to stop selling Dasani here when it was proved they were just filling the bottles from the Sidcup water supply - its a lot extra to pay for water that comes out the tap anyway :rotfl2:  :rotfl:

I agree with DH, you are nuts. Buy the water in Orlando. :rolleyes1

I done that last trip, we checked in a case of Evian Water, 1.5 litres that had 12 it was really heavy. But we put it in a bag, and ask them if it was ok. Our luggae got lost and we got our luggage a day later. And all was well, just put the case of water in a strong bag with good handles, not really a big deal. I mean you olny carry till you check in, and then when you go pick it up, I mean you don't really lug it around for long. And if you think its heavy get one of those carts for luggae :earsboy:

In the event you do decide to carry a case of anything on, make sure it fits under the seat in front of you. I brought a case of beverages on board and was told I could not store it in the overhead bins, because if the stuff leaked they didnt want it soaking other baggage. I was force to put it under my seat.

It would also be very heavy, and there is a restriction on weight in overhead lockers :wave2: :teacher:

Like a few other people posted, it might be easier to order from an online shop and have it delivered to your resort. If it is a specific brand of water that you like, have it shipped from your local shipping store to be delivered to you at your resort when you arrive, just clearly lable it with your arrival date and your name ( on the ressie)
