I'm a little afraid of coasters, which do I start with DD or Hulk?

I'll ride some coasters, but not all, I plan on riding ROTM, and at Diseny I love Rock N Roller coaster, space moutain and Thunder Mountain. So with that in mind do you think I can ride Hulk or DD? I know that both of them are more intense than the above mentioned coasters, but I think I want to try them this year. Which coaster is the tamest of the two for me to start with? That way if I hate the one suggested, I definitely won't get on the other one! :rotfl:

I'm with you. I'm heading to US/IoA in August and trying to make the same decision. I 'think' I'm going to go with Hulk...DD allows the feet to dangle free (do I have that right experts??). I just can't stand the idea of my feet hanging down there. So, figure Hulk may be a better option. But, that could change. Not sure but I think my eyes are going to be slammed shut the whole time in any case.:lmao:

If you are going to both parks, I would actually recommend starting with Revenge of The Mummy...just to get the feel of a high speed coaster. If not...starting with the Hulk would be fine to start with since it's a sit down coaster and DD is an inverted coaster.

We were just there last week and my kids love coasters. They both think DD is more intense than Hulk.

If you like Rock N Roller coaster I don't think you will have a problem riding either. But just to ease into it I would start with Mummy and then Hulk and then Dragons.

Thanks and yes, I'm definitely going to start with the mummy (and yea, we are going to both parks---I'm staying five nights on site!!!!). I'm glad I posted this question, because I kind of thought DD would be the tamest of the two, after I do Mummy and still feel brave enough I'll try the Hulk, then I'll see if I feel brave enough to do DD!

It's been nine years since we've been to US, last time my hubby rode both of them, and he thought he remembered DD being a smoother ride? :confused3

Another vote for Mummy, then Hulk, and finally Dragons.

Gosh, that's a good question. For me it has changed. When I was in middle school, right after IOA first opened, I rode the Hulk and DD. I had a blast on the Hulk, and after DD I got soooo sick and said I would never ride it again. And now, almost 10 years later, I ride Hulk and decide it's too rough, I'm never riding it again, and then my sister talks me in riding DD. I LOVED it!!! It's so smooth and not super jerky like Hulk. Now my sister can't pay me to get on Hulk, but I ride DD over and over and over.

So before, I would say ride Hulk first, and now, I would say ride DD first. Haha! :rotfl:

I agree. I've conquered the first two, I WILL conquer DD on the next trip. Universal has such awesome rides.

Also, we stayed on property for 5 nights also a few months ago. I loved it. It was so relaxing. There isn't a feeling of "Oh, I've got to get everything done", we just took it at a leisurely pace.

I have always felt DD was alot tamer than the HULK.

I would personally say the ice coaster on DD first

At least with Hulk there is no lift hill.Getting shot out of a cannon is awesome!!:thumbsup2
When HR3 comes out I'm gonna do alot of inner searching to get on that. The lift hill 90degrees staiaght up,humm!!

Straight up lift is not a problem unless you fall out and then the only bad part is when you land:rotfl2:

For posting this.

I am planning a one day - US/IoA trip with DS/17...Just Mom & Son...and I've been thinking how cool would it be if MOM tried DD or Hulk (which the family has done without me from year to year) on this trip with just DS!

I've ridden Rockin Roller Coaster - it's my fav Roller Coaster!

I've ridden Mummy - LOVE Mummy....

BUT the difference is that they are in the DARK! SO you can't see where you are going! (Although if I pull this off - My eyes will be closed anyway):thumbsup2

One time while family is riding Hulk....I am filming the "regulations" of riding Hulk and reading them. "PLease remove Prosthetic limbs prior to riding this ride".

That can be a bit intimidating....

I'll keep reading this...and hope to know which one I should try. Leaning toward Hulk as of now.

Do ya'll promise me I won't get killed riding Hulk?

I do think I'll feel more protected the way they are buckled in @ Hulk....

THanks!:yay:

Ditto! We just returned from the parks and after several rides, the wife and I both thought that DD was a smoother ride than the HULK. We both agree however, that the Mummy is the best ride in both parks. My 8 yr old daughter was able to ride it for the first time this year and we couldn't get her off of it. She was a little nervous at first, but after about 10 rides in a row, she was reciting the words. :lmao: I still chuckle when I think about it. "Not even the Meiji can save you now......." :rotfl2:

The roughness I guess doesn't bother me....

With which ride are you buckled / armoured / strapped / glued in the MOST....

Both rides are going to be tough for me...I'm afraid of heights.... :headache:

I can do all WDW coasters and Mummy, Spiderman, etc...

So which one between DD vs. Hulk do you think I'll feel most securely buckled in on...(or I'll have less chance of falling out- which is my fear)?

Also is One shorter than the other? :scared:

That might help me get through it...

Both coasters were designed by B & M (Bolliger & Mabillard) so they have the same type of restraint system...over the shoulder harness and a seat belt buckle. B & M coasters are known for being smooth. Both coasters are about the same length but Hulk is a little bit longer.

What you might want to think about, too, is how you feel about Hulk's magnetic start. You really do feel like you've been shot out of a cannon at the beginning of the ride and it doesn't let up after that.

DD has a gravity start, so the acceleration is a bit more gradual. I know I like gravity coasters better, so I preferred DD (both sides, maybe Ice a bit more) to the Hulk, although both were awesome. But given the differences, I'd do DD Fire, then Ice, then the Hulk if you're at all nervous about riding.

Definitely start with the Mummy, though. A great coaster but very manageable.

Okay - Based on all this - I'm thinking I'm riding the HULK for this vacation.....
