Hello everyone maybe someone can help me out with something. I was at shoppers yesterday and saw gift cards for disney in the range of $25 to $500. How does this work if your canadian. Say I buy a $100 disney gift card from shoppers do they do the exchange in US at the parks or towards tickets.
Thank You

There is a whole thread on this in the Canadian forum. The exchange rate will be what it is at the time you use it in the parks (as opposed to the rate the day you buy the card).

Check the fine print on the back. Some of the cards have limitations on where you can use them. I know I had trouble using one at WDW a number of years ago, don't know if the terms have changed or not.

Quick answer to your question, YES these gift cards will work anywhere the gift cards you buy in the states will work, parks, resorts, pay for your reservation, cruise, online shopping at the Disney Store. The exchange rate you get will be from the closing rate the day before you use it (meaning it fluctuates) This is new policy and has been confirmed for use both in parks AND for paying for both packages and room only reservations. If you want to buy tickets you should really look at bying them before you leave so you can get the current discount (you can use these GC over the phone or online to do this)

So you get the actual exchange rate at end of previous day, and there is no 2% cut like my credit card charges me? This could save me a few bucks, not much but everything adds up.

That is correct. Some other people find better value in using other types of credit cards that provide other rewards which can create some savings, BUT yes, using a Disney Gift card means you are only paying the exchange rate ONCE, and it's when you use the card to PAY for something.

I checked Shoppers website and didnt see any Disney gift cards. I may have to pop into a store to check it out.

They are in most big retailers now. Walmart, Superstore, Safeway, etc. I've seen $25 and $50 in all of these places, and have picked up 9-10 of them in the past few weeks, slowly adding them up for our next trip.
