I'm wondering if anyone has done the GG Illusions Dinner & Show at Epcot. I can't really find to much info. about it and would love to here some opinions on it. Especially since it uses to 2 table serv. I'm wondering if it's worth it. Is the food good....? What about the seating for the show....? Thanks!

I am new to Disney - please explain. Is this kind of like a Fantasmic package?:confused3

I'm thinking it may be a grand gathering special meal that includes special seating for IllumiNations....Epcot's night-time firworks show. Because it would be a grand gathering most of us wouldn't know about it. But you would have to have the qualifying number of people in your party to book it.

I am wondering about the Grand Gatherings Illuminations international buffet also. The cast member told me about it when I booked our package, but have not found much about it either.
MelanieC and cop502, A Grand Gathering is for parties of 8 or more. There are three special meal "deals" you can do with this setup. The Illuminations package is a international dinner buffet followed by priority viewing of Illuminations and a international desert buffet. I thought it sounded cool too, but wanted to make sure it was worth two credits.
All info is appreciated.

If you are booked as a grand gathering they usually send you an information package about all the special opportunities you can book but you do need 8 people. If they haven't sent it to you yet you should call and request it.

That's a good idea, since I never rec. one. Thank you!!!!!

If anyone has done this dinner package I would still love to here your reviews.

We looked into the grand gathering dinner and reserved seating fro illuminations when we had our family reunion in December of 2008.

I could not find anyone who had anything good to say about it. Everyone said the food was really bad and barely warm. When we looked into it, it was served buffet style so maybe it is better now.
It takes place at Odyssey, a facility sort of between Test Track and Mexico.

This is what I can find about it now:

]"International Dinner and IllumiNations Dessert Reception
Meet your friends and family at the Odyssey in Epcot for a celebration of international friendship. Your well-travelled and fun-loving hostess, Auntie Roz, welcomes you to amazing tastes from around the world. Help yourself to delectable international cuisine served family-style, where everyone from Grandma to Junior is sure to find a favourite dish.

As you feast, Auntie Roz and some of your favourite Disney Characters sing, dance and tell stories — sometimes they even need your help! And Auntie Roz loves birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions, so if you've got something to celebrate just give her the word and she'll give you plenty of recognition, including a special song.

After your international eating adventure, end your evening on a sweet note with a scrumptious dessert buffet and a private, reserved viewing of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. Theme park admission is required.

Price:
Adults and Juniors - US$64.99, Children (ages 3-9) - US$33.99 (available 180 days prior)

Our family did the Illuminations Dinner and Dessert Grand Gathering Party in August 2007. We were very disappointed with the dinner and entertainment. If you have small children they will love this, but older teens and adults in our party were very bored with the entertainment of Roz and the Genie DJ. The meal is buffet and felt that it had been sitting out too long, was cold and tasted like it had been made and reheated several times. The entertainment just wasn't up to Disney standards in our opinion. They normally do everything so well, but this was more like children had put on a dinner show for adults.

After dinner you are moved outside to a private area by the Odyssey Building right down by the lagoon. Fantastic desserts and the viewing area is the best!!! It's standing room only though...no tables or chairs to be able to sit to really enjoy your desserts while watching Illuminations.

I'm glad we tried this at least once, but will never do so again. Felt it was too expensive for what you get.

Thanks for the info. I decided to cancel are res. It doesn't sound worth it. The good news is now I get to choose 2 more rest. to go to.
