Just wondering if this was possible....if Illuminations is done at 9.30 and I can get out the Int Gateway and walk (how long would this take) to MGM (I'm assuming I'd need to be in by 10pm shutting, and then see the 10.30 Fantasmic....is this realistic or just silly?! :thumbsup2

if Illuminations is at 9:30 and you watch the entire show, I dont think you could do it (not impossible, but improbable).

However, what time of year are you going because in MOST cases, Illuminations is at 9:00 NOT 9:30, which would make the process easy to accomplish.

IllumiNations (starting at 9pm) is over by 9:17pm.

(View it somewhere near the Itn'l Gateway).

The walk (brisk pace) to the Studios will take 15-25 minutes.

Go thru security bag-check, and enter the gate of the Studios (5-10 min.)

and walk ALL THE WAY BACK into the Fantasmic! theater (6-10 minutes).

And find a seat (couple of minutes).

So you COULD make it, if you're up to it.

Sorry I mis-understood his timing question.

Ok, as Robo said, if the show starts at 9:00, which it will, it will be over by 9:15 which will make the process a simple one to complete.

It certainly can be done. DH & I did it April 2004. We watched Illuminations from the bridge near International Gateway. As soon as the show ended (about 9:15) we walked quickly toward Boardwalk, cut over to the DMGMS walkway, and got to Fantasmic 5 minutes before showtime. A couple people on the way tried to tell us it was faster to take the boat, well, we made it before the boat. We walked quickly, but didn't need to run.

It was one of the neatest things we've done. We weren't sure it we would make it, but we wanted to try. It is only possible on nights that Fantasmic is shown twice. We walked from the Studios to EPCOT earlier in the day to time ourselves and make sure we had the route right. (took a bus from our resort to the Studio's early one afternoon, hung our there a little while, then walked to EPCOT earlier enough that we could go have dinner somewhere and rest up if we needed to.) Also, I don't recommend it with children. It was just DH & myself when we did it.

I recommend trying it!

This is much EASIER in the "off season" when it gets dark earlier and MGM closes earlier.

But in THIS case you see the shows in "reverse order".

Watch Fantasmic! at 7pm (over at 7:30), exit MGM and go to Epcot (you have time to wait for and ride the boat) and then enter the Int'l. Gateway to see IllumiNations starting at 9pm.

Thanks snyderla - that's exactly what I had in mind....be at MGM walk over and then check out the Boardwalk - watch Illuminations and head back. It'll just be me and Mom doing it so hopefully we'll be ok. I've checked and the day I plan to do this is when the two shows are on (is on 10 June). :thumbsup2
