Staying at BWV for the first time on our upcoming Christmas trip. As we do not have annual passes, I was wondering if there was a spot to view illuminations without actually entering Epcot?

We have a garden/pool view studio for one night. Got really lucky as I was looking to add one day at the beginning of our BLT visit. Actually had a choice of BCV or BWV studio and opted for BWV because I always wanted to check out "The Boardwalk". Never saw illuminations either and thought just maybe we could do that from that location.

Outside the park you will only see the high fireworks, none of the lower lasers or fireworks will be visible. If you walk to the bridge and watch from there, or if you have a Boardwalk view room you will see the higher fireworks.

You should call MS and request Village Green for your room. Those rooms have a partial BW view. You would be able to see the high fireworks right from your balcony, especially if you get lucky enough to get a higher floor Village Green view.
The bridge to International Gateway at Epcot is also a possibility. An advantage there is that you will hear more of the music. At the time you are going there is a special fireworks ending tacked onto the end of Illuminations synced to the song "Let There Be Peace on Earth." That last few minutes is actually my favorite thing about Christmas time at WDW, more than Candlelight Processional, more than Osborne Lights, more than Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, more than all of the other decorations. The final blast actually makes my lungs vibrate and I love the message of that song. We always stay at BWV at that time of year and I try to walk over for Illuminations every night. I hope that you are able to experience at least a little of that ending.

Just my opinion, but I feel strongly that if you have never seen Illuminations you need to see it lagoon side inside Epcot. It is our favorite nighttime show and it is much more than just the high fireworks you can see from the Boardwalk. It is music, lasers, fire and fireworks. I hope you have this in your plans

Thank you all so much for your replies!! We will make sure to catch illuminations from inside the park on one of our other nights. Ironically it will not be the night we are staying at BWV.
