Illuminations viewing spot question

Last year, we were at Epcot and found a spot for a snack for our DDs. It was sortof near the walkway from world showcase lagoon, to the old odyssey. It was back a little from the traffic, and there were benches there. It was great for our ice cream snack cuz no one was around. But now I'm wondering if maybe we could sit there for illuminations? Would we be able to see everything from there w/out actually being right up against the lagoon?

"Everything?" No.

Illuminations is best viewed when you have a clear view of the surface of the Lagoon. Much of the show takes place right at the surface and is designed to look "better" with the reflection of the water.

If you don't CARE if you can't see the water, that's OK. If there's a place to sit someplace, go ahead. Keep in mind that there will be many people standing between where you are sitting and the lagoon.
But you will still be able to hear the music and see some of the high-in-the-air fireworks.

I, myself, wouldn't choosed to sit "away" from the lagoon, but I love this show.
I want to SEE it ALL!

What about that general area, but up by the fence at the lagoon? Right at the entrance area to world showcase, sortof near Mexico? Is this a good place to view? Is it more crowded due to the fact that you're closest to the exit to get to the monorail, etc?

That's really TWO questions.

1. Its an EXCELLENT spot to view the show.

2. It is VERY crowded. You must get there and hold your spot early.
