We'll be visiting WDW for a few days late June/Early July 2012.
Would like to treat family (6 adults, 2 children) to dinner and be able to see some of fireworks afterward, if possible, without purchasing a park ticket, as it will be our first day there (June 29) and we're getting in later in the day.
Was hoping we could see Illuminations from Boardwalk area? Or how about anyplace in the DTD area?
I know about Narcoossee's, the Poly, and California Grill, but Wishes starts too late for children to be eating dinner...
Any ideas/suggestions?
Thanks!
Gretchen

You can see them from the BWI, but only the fireworks high in the sky, you don't get the full show (i.e. the presentation on the lake, and countries).

Thanks, catheren. That might be enough actually, since the youngest was afraid of the fw last year. Had to leave MK right after Wishes started & fight our way out thru the crowd! And that was after staking out a prime spot near the castle....
Happy New Year!

Hi Gretchen,

We've done this a few times in the past, and the best spot we've discovered so far outside the park (other than our BC balcony facing Epcot) is the bridge between BC and BWI:

OP I'm assuming by your post that you probably have seen Illuminations and know that its not a fireworks show but a multimedia show that has a few fireworks.

They don't pipe in the music and there are long stretches with nothing to see outside the park, particularly the second act when the globe comes out.

I'm just warning you that your group may be wondering what all the fuss is about if they have never seen the show. :)

Also you say you don't want to buy a ticket and I know you are getting in late but some times people post here asking this same question and don't realize its only $8 per day to add a day to a 4 day or longer ticket.

Didn't take the time to read all the posts, but we have watched them from the bridge between Boardwalk and Beach Club - not perfect, or like being there - but great when you don't have a ticket for that day :thumbsup2
