Illuminations pre-show/sponsorship change?

I was at Epcot recently, and noticed that one of the pre-show announcements for Illuminations had changed.

It was one of the "Illuminations will begin in 5 minutes" type announcements, but it was "Because GE brings good things to life, Epcot will be presenting Illuminations in 5 minutes" or something like that.

I know GE used to sponsor Illuminations, but I hadn't heard a GE tag on one of the messages in a long time. Has GE re-instated their sponsorship of Illuminations, or did I just hear an accidental playing of an old recording?

I was there recently and didn't hear that. Maybe they got one of the old tapes in the mix.

I will have to listen the next time I go. I will be there on the 4th.

It is true that GE sponsorship of Illuminations ended sometime around 2000. Here is a script for the old announcements, circa 2000, which include GE just as you mentioned. I sincerely doubt GE will resume sponsorship, as they now own the Universal Studios theme parks. (Though stranger things have happened, such as Disney filming Pirates of the Caribbean at Universal Studios Hollywood.) But how this kind of mix-up could occur is highly interesting...
