If you're eating dinner at any of the World Showcase restaurants and IllumiNations starts, is it ok to go outside and watch and then come back and finish eating? Should we settle the check in explain in advance what we plan to do so they don't clear our table?

We have an 8:10 ADR for Chefs de France. I'd love to time it so we can finish dinner and come back after IllumiNations for dessert but I know it may not work.

I've never heard of anyone doing this. I guess it's worth an ask when you get to the restaurant, but I think chances are pretty slim. So if this is your only night to see Illuminations, I wouldn't chance it.

I really wouldn't count on doing this. Illuminations is about 15 minutes long and you may not even find a spot right outside the restaurant to see it. Plus, the restaurant typically closes when Illuminations starts. You could certainly ask, but I wouldn't count on it. Why not move the reservation a little early and just finish your meal before the show?

The only restaurant that I know of that does this is The Rose and Crown. If you are seated inside for Illuminations they will escort you to their private viewing area outside and then you can return to finish your meal / desert.

Thanks everyone! I agree, it probably isn't really an acceptable thing to do. I thought I'd heard of people doing this at the Crystal Palace for Wishes or HEA but maybe it's not quite the same thing.

I think I'm going to cancel this ADR anyway because I just realized it's not covered under Tables in Wonderland for dinner. Maybe I can get and ADR at the Rose and Crown instead!

As PP said Spice Road is amazing, the food & ambiance really make it a nice experience especially on a clear night when you can sit outside w/out roasting. The view isn't perfect but it is a good one-especially if you've already seen Illuminations before.

After seeing the comments before yours, I was just going to say..wait Ive done it!... but yes, I ws at Rose and Crown. I didnt realize they are the only ones. (nor did I realize we were in their private viewing area? We chose the locations on our own).
