Cancellations do happen and you were very lucky to snag one of them. I'm glad you found the DIS, it's a really great place to plan a trip. I would have replied sooner but I was in WDW the day you posted and didn't get back home until a day or two ago.

... when Candlelight Processional shows postpone Illuminations until 9:30?

Do the boats then depart at 9:00? I would feel strange booking an "8:00 Specialty Cruise" wondering whether it would really wait until 9:00.

When you call for the reservation be sure and tell them you want the 8pm cruise in order to view illuminations. They are used to this and the 8pm specialty cruise is the last one of the day.

Like Nativetxn said, it happens all the time and they adjust accordingly.

Last year we took the cruise in December. We shared with another Dis'er who booked the cruise. When they booked the cruise, they were told to call 3-4 weeks prior to the cruise to check what time it actually would leave. And it left a little before 9 if I remember right.

Thanks, nativetxn, that's what I was trying to do BUT was unsuccessful- I even posted on the main theme park attractions board in error, trying for the OCT board!! Thanks for doing this board. DD, DH and I did an Illuminations cruise on valentine's day 2002- a surprise for them- and we all loved it! Definitely magic! And we wouldn't have been able to do this wihtout all your help organizing. PS- I have a nativetxn friend here in Maine, too- her- license plane reads NTVTXN and her DH's is LNGHORN!

Do not give up on this. Keep calling and trying for a reservation even when you are in WDW. Cancellations do happen and they are not infrequent. In fact, sometimes a boat will sit idle because someone cancelled and no one got the reservation. So keep trying.

Has anyone cancelled their cruise and transferred it to someone else before? I have 2 reserved but only need one, someone has contacted me all ready about taking day we are cancelling, but I am not sure how to go about it.

I know DISers "traded" a reservation once by setting up a 3-way conference call. Cancelling the reservation and making the new one during the same call.

Others have set a time for the reservation to be cancelled and the person who wanted the cancellation called a few minutes after the cancellation to snag the ressie.

If you cancelled in the afternoon this method would work well. Most people call for reservations right at 7, so if you cancelled first thing in the morning anyone could get it.

Anyone have a boat reserved on 11/17, 11/18, or 11/21? I will be in WDW for my honeymoon, and I was so hoping to surprise my new wife with the Illuminations cruise. I keep calling WDW, and I posted in the November board. I guess now I have to hope for a little pixie dust.

I am more than willing to pay my share, and it will be two adults in their 30's.

I think you will have better luck finding someone with a cruise to share if you post your request to our Illuminations Cruise Central for November. You will find that thread right <b>HERE</b>. You might also consider trying to call to book your own cruise boat. Cancellations happen frequently and sometimes a boat will sit idle because a cruise was cancelled. Don't give up. Good luck with this.

OK Im getting a little concerned. Heres my dilema: we are booked for an Illuminations cruise for 8:30 Dec 2. but I just saw where Illuminations begins now at 9:30. The cruise only lasts an hour so how is that going to work. Did I miss something or what? Somebody in the know pleeezze help!!

Congratulations on getting your cruise! Many people tried for that week and didn't get one. I'd volunteer to help you fill your boat , except that's the night we're going to MVMCP.

Just wanted to say thanks again for all the great advice here. I was able to book a cruise for Jan 2, our last night at WDW for my family and my brother's family. (Sorry no room for other DISers--we fill the boat). It will help create a special memory for the end of our family Christmas holiday. And the boards just keep giving me the advice I need to keep my title as "Disney Queen."
