I am considering trying to book an Illuminations cruise for DH and my anniversary during our trip. I had two questions.

1. Is it really that smoky? I've seen several posts that said it was hard to enjoy the show because of all the smoke.

2. Do you pay for the cruise in advance or just use a credit/debit card to hold your reservation? Not a big deal, just wondering.

Our boat driver said that whether you are caught in smoke will depend on whether there is wind and which way the wind is blowing. On the night we saw it, there was a little wind and it was blowing away from where the boats were. According to our boat driver, if there is no wind, the smoke sometimes just sits there on top of the water and can drift back towards the boats.

You pay for the cruise when you check-in at the marina.

We have done illuminations 6 times and have never had smoke...I did watch illumintions once from the Rose and Crown patio and was overcome by smoke...so it does happen but at all different viewing areas..

We also experienced the same. It was raining that day maybe that was part of the problem. :earsgirl:
