Illuminations Cruise payment ?

How is everyone keeping expensive payments secret? I mean, I want to surprise my partner with a dinner at V&A, and I know she'll absolutely flip if she sees the full cost, but there's really no way to keep secrets without having private accounts. Even if I went to buy a gift card, there's still a charge for the amount and she'd ask what I bought at the disney store for $600 or whatever. Do most people have private credit cards they don't let their partners see?

LOL I think this is comical... Richard Nixon is asking how to keep secrets from people!!! Haven't you learned anything?!?!?!

Lol sorry, had to do it.

I have been purchasing Disney gift cards for our upcoming trip and plan to use them to pay for our Illuminations Cruise (a 40th birthday surprise for my husband). I have been purchasing the cards at Giant Eagle and Target. There is nothing on the bank statement that looks the least bit suspicious!

The official policy is that food and beverages should be ordered through Yacht Club in-room dining ... but we have done several "special" cruises, and being big wine drinkers, we have often brought a special bottle or two. It's not like in-room dining has a 40 year old Bordeaux or a bottle of Dom Perignon from the year you were married sitting around. It's never been a problem, and often the captain has even offered to serve the wine or champagne we brought.

I will add that we have always ordered some extra snacks, like a shrimp cocktail or cheese plate, to go with it.

I pay the bills so my husband never knows. :-) However, being that I pay the bills, if he tries to surprise me with something on a credit card, I always know. :-)

I paid cash at the window while I had my family stay off to the side taking some photos by the water. They were none the wiser about the cost.

Very easy to pay discreetly at the window.

As for food and beverages, I had ordered some food through the Yacht Club, but I wouldn't bother doing that again. We did each get an adult beverage at the Yacht Club bar in a "to-go" cup and brought those on board without a problem. Also, I am fairly certain that if I had brought along some of our own food/other drinks, our captain would not have said a word (even though the official "policy" is that you can't).
