Illuminations Cruise from DTD?

We are making our first trip to Florida in March, and have only one day to spend at Disney. I thought another way to get a feel for the "magic" might be to book an lluminations Cruise. We will arrive at MCO at about 3:30 p.m, and had planned on checking in to hotel, touring DTD, and having dinner at RFC. This might also be a good time to do the cruise, assuming I could get a reservation or share with someone. Where would we have to depart from for a Pontoon Cruise, and how difficult would it be to get there from DTD. We are not staying onsite, but will have a rental car. Keep in mind that we have absolutely NO idea where anything is!!

Very Simple!
From Downtown Disney, make a right coming out of the parking lot, you will be traveling west, Planet Hollywood will be on your right, you will be headed towards Disney/MGM Studios. You will pass DVC Old Key West, The Disney Caribbean Beach Resort and Reedy Creek Firehouse, at the next light make a right (Exxon Station on right side) go past Disney Boardwalk Resort, go under the Epcot Water Bridge, next resort on your left will be Disney Beach Club and DVC Beach Club Villas and then the very next resort will be Disney Yacht Club. Turn left and at the guard shack inform the guard that you have an IllumiNations Cruise scheduled. Park, walk thru the lobby and head towards the lighthouse (straight ahead), but instead of walking down the pier, yield to the right and head for The Bayside Marina, its a small building just to the right, you will see the pontoon boats and Breathless in the water between the lighthouse and the marina. Check in with any of the Pontoon Drivers (Red Shirts). You should arrive around 8pm to check in and will depart sometime between 8:15 and 8:30

The drive is roughly about 3 miles.

Mike, thanks for the detailed directions! I will print them out and keep them in my file. My Dh will be very impressed with my planning skills if I arrange this, he has no idea about Illuminations, or cruises, so this would be a great way to start the holiday.
