Illuminations Christmas finale is spectacular!

Does anyone know how long they will be doing this? We arrive on the 27th but my inlaws won't be there until New Years night. I hope they get to see it too!

I was at Epcot last year for New Year's Eve (the 31st), so might be able to shed some light. Like last year, there will be two performances of Illuminations on NYE. If this year is like last, the earlier one at 7:30 did have the special Peace on Earth Christmas finale added on to it. The one at 11:50 did not, but had its own special finale for NYE where each country that has celebrated the New Year already is "honored" with fireworks behind their respective country before our New Year that ends with a huge bang in and around WS lagoon. Epcot is my personal favorite place for NYE. However, we've spent the last 3 NYE's there, so we're trying MGM this year again. :)

Hey Amy and Dan! We will be watching it on the 29th too! Here's hopeing the crowds don't kill us!

I watched it 3 times on my vacation last week, brought tears to my eyes the first time I saw it. I'm afraid it will be a let down when I see illumniations again in the original version. Walter Cronkite narrating it was a nice touch.

because nothing says "Let there be peace on earth" like shooting off a bunch of explosives :)

Honestly, I have never been as blown away by a fireworks display as I was watching this ending. We had to see it three times this week.
They need to keep it after the holidays. Illuminations is getting a little worn out.

we were watching the fireworks at Epcot and I made a dash for the restroom when I thought it had finished and I now have some inkling of what it must be like to be in a bombing raid. I thought that the building was going to collapse becouse of the noise.

We went back on Wednesday for another look and managed to grab a good viewing area for the last bit as everyone rushed of when they thought it had finished due to the rain. It was truely fantastic.
