Illuminations and Dining

In my information gathering for our upcoming trip Mar 28 - Apr 1, I read that a great place to catch Illuminations is from the Rose and Crown Pub. I've made PS there for 7:20. They couldn't promise an outside table but I plan on holding out til I get one.

Any experience out there concerning Illuminations, dining, and where to?

the vast majority of tables are outside... but you can wait for another table if you are allocated an inside table (although you go to the back of the queue!)

You will need to have a leisurely dinner.. but they have never rushed us.. and even asked us if we wanted a slow dinner.

If you have young kids with you, dont forget to ask if Mickey needs any help starting the fireworks that night..

Its a great view of the fireworks.. (although any view sitting down in excellent, after youve walked around world showcase all day!) - food is ok.. nothing amazing and not very english imho, but its good..

you will have a good evening. We were there last in September and I got eaten alive by mosquitos - although that has never happened before, I will liberally spray mosi spray before our next meal there!

Just an FYI that if you are there on a busy night, if you give up the table that's been assigned to you, then you lose your ps entirely. This is one of our favorite restaurants and I've seen many different things happens here, some of it not very pretty. The patio seating is limited and outside tables with an unobstructed view of Illuminations are even fewer. Honestly, it's the luck of the draw. Eat here if you like the food, but if you're looking for a guaranteed view, then I suggest going to your favorite restaurant and staking out a spot around the lake.

Did the Rose and Crown twice.The first time we had an outside table and the view was nice.The second time we had a inside table and when the show was about to start the CM took us outside to a spot where the view was better then are first time.

we must have been really lucky in the past.. we have eaten at the rose and crown for illuminations probably 10x maybe more.. and always had a great view of the fireworks.

Mind you we always tell them its our anniversary or birthday (well it usually is around the time that we go... in May its my bday, in sept its our anniversary and Oct, dhs anniversary!)

SammieG, just curious because I saw that you live in England, are you English? Wondering if coming from their neck of the woods gives you an advantage? We've been pretty lucky also, but as I mentioned, I've seen some sights there. Actually saw a group being walked past an empty outside table to be seated inside, they stopped and took the outside table. The hostess came over, but they refused to move. That one wasn't pretty.

Your 7:20 PS time should be good for you to see Illuminations. We've not ever had a server rush us through a meal at that time ~~ they all know why we're there
My best advise to you is to Be Nice to the CMs when checking in at the podium. Mention that you'd really like to have an outside table and don't mind waiting. The CMs are the ones who decide just which table you will get, so it really does pay to be pleasant to them!!

I agree with CPer's Mom... we are all for the schmoozing factor..

I dont think that the fact we are english makes any difference at all - they are used the british people there (in fact when we go we are usually surrounded by brits!) _

We are always over nice.. try to make conversation.. ask them about their placement etc.. but we probably have just been lucky. Personally, I wouldnt accept an outside table.. we would prefer to go eat elsewhere and watch from the lagoon side..
