Il Mulino (L-moo-lee-no)

many thanks for the excellent and detailed review

The excellent review from Webray is by far the best review I've seen of Il Mulino. It does sound like the Saltimbocca was exactly the opposite from what Camcolt got when she ate there. Maybe they realized that THIN veal is how the dish is usually prepared.
Tough to figure Il Mulino--I had planned to go there myself in May, but was unable to make it. Not suprised that they aren't accepting any discounts..
Webray--how were the kids-clothes-crowd factors the nite you went??

Really enjoyed reading your review ~ we are eating here in November, can't wait now.

The menu looks wonderful. Do you have to book? Was it busy?

Thanks

Our dessert wine was Vigna des Papas.

We made a reservation the morning of when we arrived at the Dolphin. The restaurant is quite large, but as the night went on it got busier as people left the parks.

I would make a reservation to be on the safe side, as always, but if you don't have one try the day of.

I've been on the fence about my Blue Zoo ADR, now you've really got me thinking!

Blue Zoo is also quite good. We have been there many times. I guess it would depend on what type of food you are in the mood for that evening.

Webray, I have been waiting for a review form someone I "know" their tastes & usual dining places. Thank you. I did have drinks & appetizers there in May. We enjoyed everything we had, but didn't go gaga over anything except the Testrossa cocktail. For the pricetag, I was thinking it might be skippable. But, perhaps we'll give it another go.

Thanks Leota...

Yes, I am with you. Paying the higher price tag for Italian food always bothers us a little bit also. But this time..the food/service definately warranted it in our opinion. And I can say..hubby and I are definately hard on new restaurants when we critique them. We will definately say if things are bad.

As far as mixed drinks..it is always hard to try new ones..especially when they don't meet your expectations.

The DIS Unplugged podcast did a restaurant review for Il Mulino on the 6-12 show.

Kevin and John went there and had quite an interesting experience! :lmao:

I don't think I will be going there anytime soon!:rotfl2:

Well, I would hope they would give it a second try, as our server did say the chef is still tweeking the menu to make sure everything is perfect! I do know that Kevin and Johns tastes food wise are very very different from ours.

Blue Zoo has been getting pretty bad reviews and lots of folks said the place is empty(not a good sign). That's why we're on the fence with it.:guilty:

We had an early reservation...at 5pm..right when the opened. We were the first to arrive. A couple with a youngster..maybe 18months old arrived shortly after. They tried to sit them right beside us, lol, and being we were the only to partys in the restaurant the wife asked if they could have a window seat..no problem..they moved them across the dining room. Their baby was good. Plenty of partys came in with children after that, kids seem to be ages 6-12 at that point. One about six months wanted nothing to do with being there, that was right before we left..daddy got him to sleep.

We had dressed up..resort casual ( I wore a sun dress, hubby wore his caribbean wear). Many people were in nice shorts/shirts or resort casual. Not to over the top, just relaxed and laid back dressing. Which was great, as the weather was hot hot hot and extremely humid that day.

The restaurant was filling up by the time we left..which had to be 7:30 - 8pm. As I said earlier..you are not rushed here. Plenty of time between courses to just digest and enjoy.

The only thing we did notice..they have that whole..fill up a section, pile people on top of people thing going like many restaurants..lol, and most everyone did the same thing..can we go over there please..lol.

Other than that..even though this restaurant would seem to be very noisy when full because it is so large..it felt totally intimate the whole evening. Even hubby commented on that..and he never notices stuff like that.

So, hope you get to try it on your next trip uncle..as we seem to have similar tastes in our dining experiences. I can't wait to hear what you think.

Wow, bad reviews at Blue Zoo..really. We were just there a few months ago and it was as fantastic as ever.
