We went to New Haven, CT yesterday and I asked DH to please stop by IKEA. We had a great time. Love the Swedish meatballs DH had salmon. I even bought some home along with lingonberry preserves. We bought a few other items. Wish there were more stores like it maybe from other countries. Eat their food and buy their products. Anyone else feel the same way? :)

Last summer, we decided to count how many furniture items we'd bought from IKEA over the years (dressers, tables, beds, lamps, etc). We stopped counting when we got to 35. :rotfl:

My kids love their meatballs...and DS13 loves their lingonberry preserves. :cool1:

Yes, I would love to have other stores from other countries too. We drive 2 hours to Pittsburgh Ikea a couple times a year. It is an event all in itself. :cool1:

They just (last year) opened up a new one about 30 miles from me. It is a fun place, but there is so much there. It was so crowded when it 1st opened, but I think it has leveled out some.

Nice to have one around. I want my mom to get a new couch from there.

i love ikea:thumbsup2 we spend a lot of time there

We love shopping there, but have never eaten there. I'm always too tired just from walking around the store.

My family loves IKEA! My DD is obsessed with the Mac & cheese from the food court. :thumbsup2

Funny, last time we were at IKEA we were just going to brows around. We ended up with a new dining set to put in the new porch that we built. We filled our entire car (An SUV). And even drove home with the table "strapped" to the roof. (It was barely staying put). Boy did people ever get out of our way on the highway! My tip if you even need to get someplace in a hurry: Place a table on your roof and you will see the cars flying away!

My DD and I went to the Minneapolis IKEA a few months ago during our shopping junket to mall of America. Two big thumbs up!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

DH and I love IKEA, they are going to be opening one up here in Orlando, and some of my friends and I are going to wait in line and try to get some free stuff! We cant wait!

Oh man I love, love Ikea. It's got such great stuff - particularly when you're decorating on a budget.

Funny story, I've had my eye on an Ikea coffee table for a few months but it wasn't $$ priority (It was $125). Today I was browsing Craigslist and found the same table for $35! I called the guy and made arrangements to purchase it. WHen the guy found out I was a massage therapist he offered to do a trade. So I get the table tomorrow for no money!! Whooo Hoo That's about the only way it gets better then Ikea ;)

What great prices they have at IKEA! But, we'll be sticking to IKEA.com...

So, we went to IKEA, looking for dishes, a futon, and a bunk bed. It went well- we found a great bunk bed for only $99 and a cheap futon, I forget the price.

We were disappointed in the employees (almost typed CM's, LOL) at IKEA. My mother uses a wheelchair for long distances, so she really had to at IKEA. We walked up to the greeter, who was giving every shopper his big, long spiel. Eventually, we decided to talk to a cashier. She said, "I'm just a cashier... I guess you should just try to interrupt him." As we walked back to the greeter, we saw someone trying to return a wheelchair. He interrupted Mr. Can't Stop Talking about IKEA. So the greeter turned around quickly and said "just a second." :headache: FINALLY he stops and loans us a wheelchair. Just when we're ready:

Mr. Can't Stop Talking about IKEA: "Have you been to IKEA before?"
My dad: "No, we haven't."
Mr. Can't Stop Talking about IKEA: "Oh, well bla bla sale bla bla red tags bla bla furniture..."
Me: "Oh, we've been here many times before. Many many times.

I say this as I push my mother in the wheelchair away as fast as possible. We get onto the escape elevator in one piece. :lmao: :rotfl2:

The only reason I go to Ikea is for food. I sneak in the back door near the registers and grab a big bag of meatballs, a couple packs of cream sauce mix, lingonberry jam, ginger cookies and an apple cake. They only serve the cake upstairs, but they'll sell you a whole one. It's so good.

We recently had part of the freeway collapse near the Bay Bridge, which is right near an Ikea. The store's cafe fed the construction workers free every day while the fixed it. :thumbsup2

I go to the New Haven Ikea too. It's the only place I buy furniture. I don't go on the weekends though. I go in the middle of the week at night, very quiet! I wish I could figure out how to make my rooms look like theirs though, when I get the stuff home it doesn't look as cool as it does there.

I make Dh take me to IKEA its in Philly.... I love it. I just asked him if we can go soon. I really like the linen dept . They have 100% cotton sheets at a great price.

I live within five minutes of what will be the Orlando Ikea. I think my property value went up.

I'll be redoing my kitchen cabinets when I have the cash. I'm doing them through Ikea!

Ikea is great! Generally I go during the week though because the weekend is packed. Even though ours has been open for awhile.

Glad to see so many like IKEA and that they're opening a store in Orlando. :thumbsup2

I feel the same way. I wish I had a knack for decorating. Some of it has to do with the lighting, I guess. :)

I am in love with that store. Wish they had a wedding registry, I would not go anywhere else!!

I love IKEA! I am looking around my apartment as I post, and most of the big furniture is from there, mixed in with some 150 year old antiques I inherited from my grandmother. Uh, yep...I planned it that way...on purpose...really I did...not. :thumbsup2

My DD5 is also obsessed, and we do what a previous poster mentioned, sneak in the back door just to buy food! Yum, yum, yum! Love those meatballs. It doesn't hurt that our local IKEA here in New Jersey is only 3 bus stops away! We have actually been known to go there just for a cheapo ice cream cone.
